Stocking up on freezable items such as milk, butter and rice is a win for you and your wallet.

1. Eggs

You can freeze eggs, but remove them from the shells first, and freeze each in an ice cube tray. Freeze just the whites, yolks or scramble them up.

Frozen eggs can keep up to a year, and when you’re ready to use them, just thaw them overnight in the refrigerator.

2. Milk

When your milk is approaching its sell-by date, stick it in the freezer for up to three months.

3. Avocado

Cut the avocado in half and put it into a freezer bag. Or mash it up before freezing.

7. Butter

Freeze butter for up to six months past its expiration date.

8. Cooked pasta

9. Brown bananas

Let the corn cool for a few minutes then cut kernels off and freeze in a Ziploc bag.

18. Pesto

Freeze pesto for nine months to one year.
