Krazy Coupon Guy: Sermon on the Discount
Posted in: Uncategorized // Comments (1)Dear Krazies,
Following is a photo and description of my brother’s (Pete) Walgreens visits. He said he had to go to two Walgreens to get all the items. Many were paid for with RR’s from previous purchases. He is already waiting for the next sales flyer.
Pete wrote, “Here is most of what I got at Walgreen’s. I have one more can of shaving cream and three more toothbrushes. My oop was approx. $18.00 and the actual cost was approx. $65.00. Even figuring the # of trips it took into the store, not too bad on the savings aspect.”
This tells me Pete used a combination of $47 of coupons and RR’s for his purchases.
I have a sister (Lisa) in SLC who went to Albertson’s yesterday and called to say she got her first Catalina’s and on Mondays will gather all the coupon inserts/flyers from the paper at work. She went to your site and the PYP site and believes yours is more user-friendly. I believe she will also get her newly married daughter hooked on couponing.
I hope we don’t stall the slowly recovering economy by spending less on groceries/household items than we would have before investigating and joining the Church of Kouponology. I try to explain to many people how they too can save money. I try to describe the temporal characteristics of the two High Priestesses of the church (whom I believe exist but have no sure proof). I then ask what they know about Kouponing and whould they like to know more?
You would have thought I had asked them to go to a chiropractor instead of a doctor or believe in the wave theory vs. particle theory of light or the hope that Jen and Brad will ever reunite. They have accused me of joining the Krazy Koupon Kult (KKK) but I quickly tell them that there are no similarities to any other KKK organizations. Unless, of course, there are koupons for white sheets that return Katalinas or RR’s. Until then, we will proudly – and without shame – strut the aisles of any store stalking the sale.
But now, in my Bizzaro world, they are the ones who seem Crazy (insane), while the Krazies are sane. Who would willingly spend more money than necessary? They are like lost sheep blindly wandering in the wilderness in need of a shepardess or two who will lead them to the light of savings and peace and harmony.
With the growing volumes of doctrine being promulgated via your site (the one true site), I am sure at some point there will be an index or concordance to allow neophytes a place to begin their life-long worship of the Koupon and will allow searchers and researchers a way to delve into the greater truths of the Kouponism.
Amen

Posted in: Uncategorized // Comments (3)Donn’s Kodiak Grill completely EXCEEDED my expectations. This is not a typical side-of-the-road run down diner where all you get is bagged salad and fried food. It’s completely the opposite. Tucked away on top of a hill on Hwy 21 just past Lucky Peak damn, this is a neat and cozy lodge diner with high end, impressive food. Down home and upscale have never looked so good together.

The historic Hilltop Cafe has been beautifully remodeled into a rustic lodge diner. Cozy, comfortable and clean.
I had two cranky kids with me and the Kodiak Grill did their very best to accommodate all of us. They do have a kids menu and brought out crayons. Due to another large party we were unable to get a highchair, but they did find a booster for us. Definitely equipped to handle kids, but not my first choice for the little ones.
The server and owner, Danarae were extremely accommodating and cheerful on a busy Friday evening. Our food was served hot in a timely manner, our drinks were always filled. The Kodiak Grill has a warm down-home feel that can largely be attributed to the friendly staff. Danarae and staff take great pride in their restaurant and it is evident by the way they conduct themselves. I felt like my Mama was taking care of me all night and making sure my dinner was just how I liked it. I watched each customer come through the door and be greeted in a similar manner.
Our yummy appetizers included potato skins, nachos (large enough to be a meal for two in and of themselves), tasty guacamole and cheese sticks for the kids. The entrees were tasty and aesthetically pleasing: Steak and Seafood Pinwheels, Cajun Fish and Seafood Linguini, Stuffed Grilled Chicken and my favorite the rib eye steak. The entrees were served with perfect al dente vegetables and to die for mashed potatoes. My darn kids were really misbehaving by this point and I was devastated (not an exagerration, I feel very strongly about chocolate), not to be able to sample their desserts. The dessert menu was huge and they had an option to choose a small portion of FIVE different desserts of your choice. I still hear the brownie sundae and cobbler calling to me from up Hwy 21.

Uncle Krazy Coupon Guy
Posted in: Uncategorized // Comments (3)Dear Krazies,
I have a brother in Wisconsin couponing now and he has stocked up on shaving gel and toothbrushes from Walgreen’s, and chips at Target. He should be sending me a photo and tally this weekend which I will pass on to you. His oldest daughter (7 years old) now believes she should be able to use a new toothbrush every day because they have so many. I am not sure how many he got, but she seems to think they are swimming in them. I included a scan of a card she sent in a recent letter.
A quick update and photo after a short trip to Walgreen’s today. I went in and made two identical purchases: two colgate toothbrushes and one scünci pack. For the first purchase I used two $3.50 Catalinas. I paid $.42 and received one $2.00 and one $2.50 Catalina. For the second purchase I used another $3.50 Catalina and the $2.50 Catalina that printed from the earlier purchase and paid $1.42 and received another $2.00 Catalina. Now that I write this, it appears as though I should have received another $2.50 coupon. Or not. It’s likely a $2.50 Cat from the toothbrush would print when used for another toothbrush.
The toothbrushes I’ll keep for when the nieces and nephews visit. The scüncis I’ll mail to Wisconsin for the nieces. And maybe the S-I-L. Hopefully, not the brother.
On my last trip to Lowe’s, I made a small purchase and didn’t want to waste one of my coupons on such a small priced item and didn’t want to buy more just to justify using the coupon. I noticed a couple behind me with a refrigerator and neither man nor woman looked particularly happy. So, as I left, I gave them a $25 off coupon for a purchase of $250 or more towards their fridge. That seemed to cheer them up a little. It might be the start of another couponing couple in Twin Falls.
Also in the photo are coupons for Lowe’s. Some I got in last Sunday’s Lowe’s sales flyers. The others I got from some Mover’s Guides at my local post office. I believe that Home Depot will honor the Lowe’s coupons, so I should be able to shop for best price first and still get 10% off. And, for the guys who read the Krazy Lady website over their wives’ shoulders, Joe’s Sports on Eagle Road is going out of business and is advertising 30% off if the Krazy Sign People who waved to me today as I drove by are to be believed. I wonder if they have any Coupon Camo? Or Coupon Hunting Licenses? Maybe you have to draw for certain areas depending on the coupon?
Rick
