Trouble Printing Coupons???
Posted in: Couponing Basics // Comments (3)Problem: Coupon Print Will NOT Install
If you clicked the Activate Button and nothing happened or if you sent you back to the selection page, then something is blocking the the Coupon Printer from being installed.
Possible Solution: Spyware or Anti-Viral is Blocking the Printer. Make sure you have the Updated Version, and follow the spyware directions to allow the installation.
Possible Solution: Your browser settings are not configured properly to allow ActiveX items like the coupon printer to install. If you are using Windows XP, SP2, or Vista, a yellow information bar should appear at the top of your window. That bar can only appear if your security levels are set to “medium” and all ActiveX items are set to “prompt” or “enable”.
If your settings look right, it may be that a past encounter with another product has irreparably shut the prompt down for downloads like the coupon printer. When this is the case, switching to a new browser will give you a clean slate. This happened to me in Internet Explorer- so I downloaded Firefox- and now I have no problem printing coupons. www.mozilla.com/firefox. It will not replace Internet Explorer as your default browser if you don’t want it to. You can run both browsers on your computer (even at the same time).
If you are having trouble and these ideas didn’t fix the problem, go here to see more options.
If you are having a hard time with retailers accepting smartsource coupons, go HERE to print a letter to show to the checker.
1. Change your printer settings to “Print Directly to Printer”
To do this, Go to Control Panel. Click on the Printer Icon. Right Click, then Select Properties. Choose the Advanced Tab. Select “Print Directly to Printer”, then OK.
2. Clicking on a link from KCL (or, gasp, another blog) and getting a “Please Wait” for ever and ever??
So, this may sound confusing, but IT WORKS like a charm!! Listen (or read) Carefully:
When a link is copied into a post it will be different depending on where the author of the post got it from and/or what operating system they use. For Example, if I find a coupon from coupons.com and link it in a post and I use firefox, it will be different than if I use internet explorer. (Making sense?)
So- all you need to do is look for 2 letters and change them according to what operating system you use.
Here is an example of a INTERNET EXPLORER link:
http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qengbnd28576522&bt=vi&o=56385&c=PL&p=rDjUmp9f
And here is the same coupon for FIREFOX:
http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qengbnd28576522&bt=wg&o=56385&c=PL&p=rDjUmp9f
Here is the same coupon for SAFARI:
http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qengbnd28576522&bt=xs&o=56385&c=PL&p=rDjUmp9f
Internet Explorer will have a wi or vi
Firefox will have a wg
Safari will have a xs
So- if you happen upon a coupon- get used to checking the url for these 2 letters and change them according to your operating system.
Also, you will notice at KCL, we try to make it easy on you, so often you will see something that looks like this:
Use the $1/1 IE or FF
(in this case we have done the leg work for you, the IE is the internet explorer link, and the FF is the firefox link)
or maybe another reader can offer what helped for them!
Internet Printable Roundup
Posted in: Printable Coupons // Comments (2)$1.50/1 DiGiorno Flatbread Melts IE or FF
$1/1 Baked Frito Lays (I may have to run double this one at Albies today!)
$1/1 Kraft Naturals Cheese IE or FF (another great doubler!)
$2/1 Aveeno
The $5/1 Aveeno coupon floating around the blogosphere is FRAUDULENT to use in the United States!
$2/1 Hawaiian Tropics IE or FF
1. Coupons from a Trusted Site, for example, we like to see them direct from the manufacturer site
2. Print Limit- often coupons in a pdf file are fraudulent
3. Also, something that often fools newbies are companies that are found in the United States and in other countries. If you find a coupon on a manufacturer’s website- and it has a .ca (Canada) or .uk (United Kingdom) instead of .com this is another countries website and retailers in the U.S. WILL NOT get reimbursed if they are used here. There is an High Value Aveeno coupon floating around the coupon blog world right now- and it’s from Canada- PLEASE do not use this coupon!
Using fraudulent internet printable coupons hurts everyone- the manufacturer, the retailer (because they won’t get reimbursed from the manufacturer) and consumers (because manufacturers and retailers could become more conservative with their policies).
On the same note- NEVER make photocopies of internet printables.

• Peat Pots: Want to get a jump on the season and get your seeds in the soil, but you’re afraid of a late spring frost? Plant your seeds in economical peat pots made of newspaper. All you’ll need is an empty metal c

• Slow Ripen tomatoes: Have a tomato that isn’t quite ripe? Wrap it in a few sheets of newspaper and store it in an airtight container in a dark cupboard for a few days. It’ll ripen right up! I was amazed at how well this worked!
• Mulch: dampen sheets of newspaper and lay them in your unplanted garden sections. Cover with wood bark so they don’t blow away. The newspaper will retain moisture and suffocate out the weeds underneath!
• Cleaning Windows: Forget paper towels! Clean your windows with newspaper. “Streak free shine. . . you know how often. . .”
• Damp Shoes: Shoes wet from yard work or fresh out of the washing machine? Stuff newspaper inside the toes and it will absorb the moisture!
• In the Fridge: Line your vegetable drawers with newspaper (I cover with one paper towel) to absorb moisture and keep things smelling fresh.
• Absorb the grease: when frying tortillas, or grilling bacon, I put a few sheets of newspaper under the paper towel to absorb more of that icky fat that my hips DON’T

I’m not particularly crafty by nature. I had to force myself to find a newspaper craft project. Though I thought hard {insert deep sarcasm} about creating a paper maché
cornucopia masterpiece and decorating it with sugared dates and winter flora. . . . . I decided to choose something simple I could do with my kids instead. We made maracas! My little ones relished the opportunity to make a huge mess and we had a lot of fun during the makin’ and then later while
shakin’! To make your own: Blow up small balloons, then cover with newspaper strips dipped in flour and water paper maché mixture. Dry. Pop the balloons once dry, put in some beans or pebbles, then insert an old pencil and apply second coat of paper maché newspaper strips to the balloon and pencil handle. Dry, then decorate. Snap Back to Reality
Posted in: Uncategorized // Comments (15)My husband and I just got back from a weekend getaway- to celebrate our 5 year anniversary! It was excellent!! I loved a couple days away from real life, kids, computers, coupons, and dishes! I am happy to be back though, I missed KCL! Also, I see that I missed a very lively discussion about coupon ethics and double coupons and I thought I would weigh in.
First of all, I live in Emmett. There is 1 Albertson’s in Emmett, and it’s really the only grocery store in town. (There is a Family Dollar, Dollar Tree and Kings) With that being said, I can’t split my transactions between 3 different stores. I do all of my Albertson’s transactions at this location. Because there is only 1 Albertson’s to shop at, I am very careful to keep my checkers happy. When you only have 1 location you frequent, you get to know all the checkers very well. I know who gets stressed out by even 1 coupon, who loves to watch the savings, who doesn’t mind doing a few transactions in a row- and so forth.
I am not a shelf clearer, but like Joanie, if there are only 3 items left on the shelf and I need three, I take them.
If your Albertson’s won’t allow you to, I would find a Albertson’s store who will.
Recently I ordered 80 CHINET COUPONS on ebay,
and special ordered 80 packages of chinet plates.
Easy as Pie.
If I ever go to Albertson’s with Double Coupons at peak hours, I only do one transaction at a time.
Listen Ladies, it’s not worth any of our time, energy or brain power to get upset at other couponers. All we can do is follow the rules ourselves, offer our opinion to newbies and hope they do the same. There will always be couponers who don’t think about other people, who buy 15 hefty bags in one visit and who frustrate our checkers. Just make up for their bad behavior with your good behavior. And remember, We have all made Rookie Mistakes. I remember when I first started couponing I didn’t even think about shopping at off peak hours. In fact I remember being at Albertsons at like 5:00 pm with a cart FULL of stuff, and coupons to go with each item. THAT’S LIKE COUPON SIN #1. But I didn’t even realize this was rude. There is a learning curve to this.. Let’s all try to be patient while others are learning the ropes.
while staying positive and treating each other nicely and with respect.
We have a great communtiy of women (and men) here at KCL,
and I hope it continues to be a place to vent, get ideas and make friends.
Thanks Ladies!!
