Dear Krazy Coupon Lady,
Thank you for contacting us regarding the Supervalu coupon policy. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
Manufacturer Coupons: Coupons issued by the manufacturer containing: “terms of agreement”, face value, expiration date, and verbiage “manufacturer coupon.” They have handling instructions printed on them.
Most manufacturer coupons have barcodes on them and can be scanned. Any coupons that do not scan or do not have barcodes should be checked for validity of expiration date and purchase requirements.
Albertsons may issue coupons that are manufacturer coupons that contain the words “redeemable only at Albertsons.”
Store Coupons: Company’s discount offers in various forms of media including, but not limited to, print, electronic, newspaper, direct mailers, kiosks and Company websites.
Store coupons may also contain the words “redeemable only at Albertsons” (or a banner of Albertsons).
Store coupons may state that the discount applies only with Preferred Card/Super Card/Loyalty Card.
When redeeming a store coupon the terms printed on the coupon must be adhered to.
Catalina Checkout Coupons/Rebates: Catalina is a third party vendor that partners with vendors and Albertsons to offer both manufacturer coupons and Albertsons in-store coupons. The coupons are triggered by purchasing qualified items at checkout which generate a coupon to print on the Catalina printer.
It is Albertsons’ policy that these coupons are to be used in a future purchase, not within the purchase in which they are generated.
Catalina coupons can only be given to the customer for whom they were intended (not to any other customer or associate). If a customer does not want their Catalina coupons, it is Albertsons’ policy that the cashier destroys them immediately.

1-888-826-8766 for any questions about redemption and\or if a coupon fails to print within a transaction.
We will NOT accept competitor Catalina coupons.
Internet Coupons: Coupons printed from an internet website presented for redemption with a qualifying purchase.
Albertsons DOES NOT accept internet coupons containing the following conditions:
a. ‘Free’ product offers that do not require a purchase
b. Redemption value exceeding $5.00
c. Absence of UPC bar code
d. Photocopied internet coupons. Most internet sites will print a time and date stamp on the coupons, and limit each ISP address to two coupons total. If multiple coupons have the same time and date stamp this could be an indicator the coupon was photocopied, and should not be accepted.
Our goal is to insure that our customers always have a pleasant shopping experience, so we have decided to take a strategic approach and eliminate these coupons and offer our customers some new promotions in their place.

I would like to know where it says in the store policy that it states that Albertsons has to adjust the doubler down to the price of the item, if the coupon and doubler exceeds price of the item? Like in your example. I work at albertsons as a Cashier and I do that, but I do not see anywhere that it says we have to. It is frustrating as a cashier when people say you have to do that.If you could show me where it says that I would appreciate it Thanks.
You may want to read your updated Coupon Policy as of 5-21-2010. It states that when redeeming a cpn or doulble you may not exceed the value of the item, therfore to adjust the price of the cpn. Its new you can find it on your Portal @ work…under Coupon Policy (questions & answers)
I also don't actually see where it talks about using more than three doublers in a tranaction.
Well the “New” Policy states that for customer service for ALL that we are limiting 3 transactions per customer so that we may take care of all of our customer needs of time in line!
It says it on the coupon doubler. Sometimes it says 2 and sometimes it says 3. Not to be confusing, but sometimes us cashiers let you use up to 5 in a transaction because the computer lets us. It usually lets us if 2 are from wed paper and 3 from sunday paper, etc.
The cashiers at my albertsons won't let me do it so I wanted something I could take into show them. They don't even try to scan them they just say we can only do three per transaction. That's the rule.
I was at our local Albertson's in Pocatello and gave the cashier my 3 doublers along with 3 coupons. She refused to double one of my coupons because it was for $1.50 off. I said that in the past the cashier has doubled up to $1 and she said she could and would not do that. What is the rule there?
i work at albertsons and the cashiers weren’t exactly sure what to do so we just did it and then when corporate found out made it so we couldn’t take the coupon if it’s over $1.
At my albertson's they now have a special doubler info sheet at the checkout that says specifically that coupons $1 and under can be doubled, nothing above $1 in value will be doubled at all. It appears to be a change in policy. I recommend you email their customer service with that specific question.
The policy was always 'do not double a coupon $1.01 or greater'. Some stores just misunderstood and were doing something they didn't know was against policy.
[...] Policy [...]
Spokane Albertson (IMW) have a new policy that came out on
5-21-2010…There are good changes and clarification for doublers.
You may adjust the price of the cpn to make the item $0.00….you may not tender the cpn for more thatn the value of the item.
You may use a doulber on ANY VALUE cpn….the doubler can not exceed $1.00.
I had a customer call my store in which I reviewed the NEW policy with her.
Is this the new policy or is there a newer one? If there is a newer one, can someone post the link to it? I have yet not found one that says they accept “Do not double” coupons so I can show it to a particular store and person that likes to make a big deal about it. Thanks
Was dispointed when i went to my local Albertson store here in Riverside, CA., They DO NOT accept any coupons PRINTED OFF THE COMPUTER….. They ONLY accept the ones from the sunday paper from your SS or RP or PG.
Just got back from Albertsons, the checker was refusing to take a manufactorer coupon printed from Target (as it had the target logo on it) I pointed out that it had the manufactur coupon header on it – she didn’t care. The manager took the coupon – wrote on them and let me use them – stated she was going to talk to her book keeper – anyone else have this problem?
I called customer service after my experience above especially since the cashier was awful rude to me – I just got a response from the district manager:
Thank you for contacting Albertsons regarding your question on our coupon acceptance. We do accept all manufacturer coupons. The only case where we would not accept the coupon is if it states that it is only good at a certain retailer. I have reviewed with the store manager at the Kirkland Albertsons this policy and will work to ensure each of our cashiers understand and adhere to this policy. I would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and for the way in which the cashier handled this situation. This is certainly not the way we wish to see our valued customers treated. As a token of my appreciation for your bringing this to my attention and to apologize again, I am mailing you a gift card that you can use at this store for a future purchase.
Again, I do apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your time to bring this to my attention. If I can ever be of assistance please don’t hesitate to contact me by either phone or email, my contact information is listed below.
This was sent to me within 3 hours of my call and I think speaks loud and clear to how they WANT to treat their customers! WOO HOO! I’m soo excited!!
