We received this email from KCL JoAnna:

My name’s JoAnna, and I love your website!I recently had a problem with WalMart,  and was hoping you could help,with at least advice if nothing else.
I purchased 6 Magic Erasers, used 3 BOGO free coupons and 3 $1 off coupons.  I was told by the cashier (and later the manager at this Walmart and another that I stopped by) that the 2 different coupons could not be used together.   I then asked the manager if I could just return the 6 and get a refund.  She said they would probably only refund the 3 that I paid for.  I think that’s ridiculous, since P&G has already received those coupons for reimbursement, and they’re just going to sell them at full retail to someone else.  Thanks for any advice or insight you can provide,

Walmart’s Official Coupon Policy states pretty clearly that you can only use 1 coupon per item.  You should be able to make the argument that you are using the B1G1 Coupon on the item you get for FREE, and the $1 off coupon on the one you are BUYING.  However, this will have to be left up to the manager on duty.

Secondly, when returning items purchased with coupons.  They can:
1. Refund you the full amount and submit the coupons to get reimbursed.
2. Refund you the amount paid after coupons, and return the coupons to you.
Under NO circumstances can a store only refund you the amount after coupons and keep the coupons.  This would mean they get paid on both ends.

Regarding coupons that read “Do Not Double”:

Corporate Albertson’s has recently trained their stores to NOT allow coupons that read “Do Not Double”.  It just recently happened in my store, and I have heard from just about every store that this is the case.   I have heard that they required each store employee to sign something saying that they would not double coupons that say “Do Not Double”

KCL Soapbox:

Albertson’s has In-Ad Coupons that can be matched with manufacturer coupons for additional Savings. Some of the In Ad Coupons found at Albertson’s are “Twice the Value” Coupons or Doublers. Doublers are good on any manufacturer coupon up to $1 in Value. So, if you use a $1 manufacturer coupon, and then the doubler- they will take off another $1. If you have a coupon for $1.01 or $1.50 etc., they will NOT (or should not) take an additional $1 off.

You may use one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon per item. Since the Doubler is a Store Coupon- You can not use it in conjunction with another In-Store Coupon. For example- If there is a In-Store coupon (in their ad) you can not use that coupon and a doubler- since that is technically 2 store coupons (just like you can’t use 2 manufacturer coupons on 1 item).

If you are buying an item for $1.88 and you have a $1 manufacturer coupon- and a Albertson’s Doubler- THEY HAVE TO ADJUST THE DOUBLER DOWN TO $.88.

It’s that time of year!  I love consignment season almost as much as I love Christmas!   And if you’re in the Boise area, you CAN’T miss the best sale in the valley:  Moppet Togs Consignment Sale!  What is a consignment sale?  It’s a huge sale of used excellent quality used childrens and maternity clothing as well as toys, and all the baby gear you can handle.  Shop for Halloween costumes, shoes, cribs, baby room decor- you name it!  There are two ways to participate in Moppet Togs Consignment Sale:  (1) Become a consigner and sell your clothes and (2) shop the sale!

(1) Become a Consigner!  Cause where else are you gonna get all the money to spend at the sale?!  Here’s how it works:  Gather all your good condition, stain free clothes, shoes, toys and gear and get it clean and ready to sell!  Next you set the price!  You keep 70% of the sale price of the items, so if you want to make $7 on a toy basketball hoop, price it at $10.   Next comes the fun part.  Sit at your computer and enter your inventory online!  You don’t even have to leave the house!  You enter a description and your price and Moppet Togs will have an adhesive barcode waiting for you when you drop off your items!  Last thing you’ll need to do?  Cut a 3×5 card into thirds and safety pin the card to the upper RIGHT corner of the garment.  Then you can stick the barcode on when you get to the drop off!  View a step by step Tagging Tutorial here!

The sale is Thurs. Oct 8, Fri. Oct 9 and Sat. Oct 10.  When you choose to consign you have the option of whether you want your items to be sold for half price on the last day of the sale, Saturday.  I highly recommend you go half price on your items, unless it’s a particularly special circumstance.   Time to consign is NOW!  Drop off begins this Friday.  Don’t delay, sign up to be a consignor here.  I would guess the average consigner makes at least a hundred bucks – (enough to feed a KCL family for like two weeks, right?)

It’s the end of the month, which means it’s time to mail your coupons to Andrea so she can send them over to Japan!

Did you know that overseas military members and their families can use expired coupons up to six months past their expiration? Families living in a far away country are often living on one income and money may be scarce. Let’s support our military by showing them some coupon love! KCL’s, we want to come together and pool our expired coupons to send to US military families in Japan!

How this is going to work:

One large KCL package will be shipped during the second week of each month. Most coupons expire at the end of the month, so this will give you one week to mail your expired coupons to our volunteer and President of all things expired and overseas, Andrea Roche.

Eligible Coupons:

* Do NOT send coupons that are over 30 days expired.
* Do NOT send store coupons.
* ALL manufacturer coupons are eligible: printable, blinkies, peelies (if that’s the way you roll), tear pads in addition to newspaper coupons– they must be Manufacturer Coupons.
* Coupons must be clipped

How do I send the Coupons?

* Separate your clipped coupons into two categories: Food and Non-Food
Most bases have 2 stores. One is called the “Commissary” which is a grocery store and the other is the PX or BX which is a department store. We therefore ask you to sort the coupons into “food” and “non-food” bundles so that they can more easily be placed in the correct venue once they arrive at the base.

* Label the Bundles
Try to use a baggie to separate your coupons instead of paper clips or rubber bands.

* What’s Food & Non-Food?
Here’s the rule of thumb: It’s food if it can be eaten by humans, is usually eaten by humans, and is normally eaten to provide calories. For example, dog & cat food would be “Non-Food,” but Ensure or Slim-Fast would be “Food.” Vitamins would be non-food. Chewing Gum and Mints are food.

* Tally an approximate total value
Find your total for the coupons (both food and non-food totals combined). For BOGO offers, there is usually a max value, use this number. Totally is NOT required; don’t let it keep you from donating.

* Why total?
So that the Overseas Coupon Program can keep track of which bases need more coupons!

* Is there a minimum Donation?
No! Please send any coupons you may have. We only ask that you mail them only once a month. It will just be easier business this way!
