Albertsons General Mills Promo

Posted in  //  Albertsons  //  Comments (19)

I just read at Frugal Chic Living that the General Mills Catalina is printing if you spend $20 BEFORE coupons.  It worked for Crystal and I am wondering if anyone else has tried? I am not going to be able to make it to the store today, but this promo will be much more exciting if this is the case!! Anyone tried? Also, I am curious if anyone has tried to roll this?

You can see all the matchups HERE

**If the coupon doesn’t print after you spend less than $20 I am sure that management will refer to the fine print and not issue you a catalina. However, you can always potitely ask them to return your items so that you can ring them up again to get to $20 AFTER coupons.

Also a few Catalinas that may also print. If you have success with any of these, let us know!

I have mixed feelings about that. Ethically speaking, shouldn’t we be following the fine print? I’ve been couponing long enough to know that there is a lot I CAN get away with. It’s not a perfect system. There’s still so much that is subject to interpretation. And maybe it’s just a typo on the part of Albertsons, in which case I’ll gladly shop and coupon this promo the way I normally do. Until then, however, I plan to play according to the rules!

I think its unfair(unethical) for them to put an “after MANUFACTURER” requirement on this promotion. If I go to the store and buy the exact same item as my friend and I use coupons to bring my total under $20 and she does not, but she is the only one getting the catalina, I am getting punished for using the coupons, which the store will turn around and get reimbursement on. The total cash received by the store in both my situation and my friends situation is IDENTICAL so why should I get denied the catalina!

      Thanks Aimee, couldn’t agree more.

  • Amalia

Aimee, I agree. The store is getting the exact same amount whether I use coupons or not, so WHY do they even put that disclosure?

Sara- I think that you are right and play by the rules, but if it prints out then it prints out. She didn’t do anything to cause it to print. And she could of walked out with her stuff and no catalina

I can confirm that the catalina on the Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks is working. I got one this morning at a Boise Albertsons.

There is also a catalina on Fiber One bars that runs 2/22 – 3/21. Same as the fruit snacks:
    Buy 3 get $1.50
    Buy 4 get $2.50
    Buy 5 get $3.50

These two catalinas overlap with the “$7 back on a $20 GM purchase” deal. I bought 5 boxes of fruit snacks and 5 boxes of Fiber One bars and used a few coupons to get the total down to $20.60. Got back the $7 from the GM deal, the $3.50 on the fruit snacks, and another $3.50 on the Fiber One bars.

There is also a catalina printing for Fiber One bars.

    Buy 3, Get $1.50 OYNO
    Buy 4, Get $2.50 OYNO
    Buy 5+, Get $3.50 OYNO

I bought 5 boxes gm fruit snacks, 6 boxes fiber one bars, and 3 boxes of cherrios. I paid $21.50 oop but got $14.00 in catalina’s back.

I had 2 – $1.00 off 2 general mills fruit snacks, 2 – $1.00 of 2 fiber one bars, 2 $.75 off one fiber one bars and 3 – $1.00 cherrios. I also had $5.00 in catalina’s from the del monte promo. These were coupons I printed offline a few weeks ago.

Responding to Sara’s post above …

I would agree that we should do things as the manufacturers intend when it comes to these promotions, but we don’t know if the “fine print” in the ad is correct. Albertsons could have mis-stated the details of the promotion in its ad, or Catalina Marketing could have programmed it incorrectly. We don’t know which is “right.”

So therefore, I don’t think there is anything unethical about accepting the catalina if it prints out for you. However, rightly or wrongly, in case of a dispute Albertsons will stand behind their ad, and I would agree with that policy as well. Just my opinion.

It could be that they added the fine print to cover themselves. Some of the stores don’t have cat machines at the cs desks. In this case, they usually just give me cash instead of a cat- and they lose money, versus the manufacturer.

I purchased two packages of the Nature Valley Granola clusters and did not receive the catalina. I purchased at the Federal Way Albertsons in Boise.

  • Susan

    Nancy,

The Nut Clusters are included in the “Buy $20 Get $7″ promotion, but they are not included in the separate granola bar promotion where.

The NV Granola Bars are on a separate catalina promotion, but you have to buy a minimum of 3 boxes to get the $1.50 back. They are not part of the “Buy $20 get $7 back” promo.

I tried to double-dip the Nut Clusters and NV granola bars, but it didn’t work. It only worked with the Fiber One bars and the fruit snacks.

Too bad the Pillsbury and OEP catalina deals are over. Wouldn’t that have been sweet if they overlapped.

I am pretty new to couponing and had two quick questions. How do you decide when to wait until Sunday to see if “twice the value” coupons will come out? My second question is do we know if this is going to continue to print this way or could it be an error they will catch and correct?

  • Katie Martin

It was stated the same way last promo here in Southern California Albertsons. I didn’t participate so I don’t know if it would have printed still. Wish it was the old way much easier.

  • rattriffic

I confirmed with three different albertsons that the promotion was to run like any other and its buy $20.00 save $7.00. as long as you get to $20.00 it will trigger the catalina and that you can use coupons no problem! it also says in the fine print that its only one deal per person….when was the last time you only did one kick back? albertsons is running the promotion and they are ok with it so Im ok with it:-) I also went and di 4 transactions back to back and had no problems what so ever…..

  • Diana

The Betty Crocker Fruit Snack catalina is working at Safeway too! I keep getting the info from the catalina :)

    What a great resource!

Which Boise/Meridian stores is the $20 BEFORE coupons catalina printing? I was at the Cherry Lane/Meridian store and the cashier said it wouldn’t work unless the total was $20 after coupons.

  • Becky

I was just at the Cherry Lane/Meridian store and they said it wouldn’t work. Also, the catalinas are considered coupons for this sale so they won’t roll unless you have a total high enough to cover them.

  • cody

is the betty crocker fruit snack catalina just a manufacturer catalina? or can i use it on other items in the store? i still have the del monte catalina from the canned veg from a couple weeks ago. was it a manufacturer catalina? how can you tell?
