I have been twice today and have rolled the catalina, no problem. My new freezer is filling up quickly! BTW, you guys should put printable business cards on your site. I gave out your website 5 times today and would be happy to cut out and distribute your website info. Lots of people ask!

    • Joanie

printable business cards?! hmmmm, now the wheels in my head are turning. . .

      • JJ

Seriously Joanie, I write the website down for people almost every time I shop!

  • Christa

Don’t forget the $0.55/2 Cellfire on the Pillsbury Toaster Strudel.

    • Joanie

      Thanks!

  • Lonie

Thanks for all your hard work! I have done like 6 different transactions and am still going back for more! Yay!

  • mimi

    Hi there,

    I am confused…
Can you explain how did you get

Safeway/Vons French Fries or Tater Tots $2.50
    Final Price: $1.50

There was no coupons shown?? :/

    • Dianne

The catalina is basically a 40% discount on each item, so $2.50 x 60% = $1.50 gotta love math, from a retired math teacher. You’ll see that on each item. HTH

  • mimi

    or this

    El Monterey Tornados $2.00
    $1.00/1 – El Monterey Tornados, 8.4 oz box –
    Final Price: $0.20

    Thanks so much in advance!

    • Joanie

I explained how I compute my final prices in the post at the top, because i know if you don’t understand, my math looks krazy!

Spend $25, Get $10, this is basically a 40% savings, so I take 40% off in my final prices. As long as you keep your transactions right at $25, your price (when factoring catalina savings) will be just as my final prices indicate.

      Hope that helps!

    • Shanna

I believe that the math is wrong on several items. You are right to question how $2.00 – $1.00 MC – 40% = $0.20, because it doesn’t.

      $2.00 – $1.00 = $1.00
      $1.00 *60% = $0.60, not $0.20
      or
      $1.00 * 40% = $0.40, then $1.00 – $0.40 = $0.60

I’m sure most of these items are still a great stock up deal, but it’s confusing if you try to do the math yourself when it is wrong.

      • Shanna

She just told me that the % comes off BEFORE the coupons.

  • Tiffany

I agree with the printable business cards. I give your guys’ site out ALL the time!

    • Dianne

      AMEN!!!

  • Tiffany

Too bad there wasn’t a way to track the cards and then each ‘referral’ scored us points so we could earn a free book! ;)

    • Joanie

If there was a way to track it, I would totally do it! fun idea!

      • Dianne

I would love it, I teach a couponing class and gave your site out to lots of people. Love your book, gave it out in a drawing that was for the people who attend all of the classes. They loved it too!

  • amanda

Does anyone know if this cat is going on at kroger affiliates? Usually they follow safeway

  • Erin

So I went to Safeway last night to do a few of the frozen food deals and neither time did the $10 cat print. I made sure everything was on the cat list and each transaction was over $25 before coupons. Is there anything I can do to get me $20 worth of cat’s? Thanks for any advice.

    • Joanie

First, I would take your receipts to your store manager and show that the promo isn’t working like it should. If the store won’t give you $20 in catalias or cash, you then need to call the Catalina company: (877) 210-1917. There will be directions for how to submit your claim.

      • Erin

The promo is $25 before coupons, correct? The cashier was trying to tell me it’s because I didn’t spend the $25 because I used coupons.

      • Joanie

It is before coupons, you are correct. What a bummer that you’re having trouble! I hate that! I would try one more time talking to a manager and then call Catalina. Hope it’s not too big a headache!

      • Erin

Thanks for the advice! I called the Cat company today. They are sending me out my two $10 cats. Yay! Apparrently there was a paper jam. Grrrr! And the cashier even checked. Such is life. LOL.

  • http://beautifulfrugallife.blogspot.com/ Melody @ This Beautiful Frugal Life

Here’s a $1 printable for the Morning Star lasagna! http://www.morningstarfarms.com/ Great match ups, not sure you guys ever sleep. :)

    • Dianne

      Thank you so much!

  • http://www.graysharbordeals.com Annaliese

Thanks for all the hard work you did in putting this list together!

I noticed in the ad that there was a “Save $4 instantly when you buy 4 participating Pillsbury products”- I’m wondering if the Grands are included in this and could boost savings even more?

    • Joanie

Holy Moly! How’d I miss that?! I can’t confirm which products are participating in the buy 4, save $4 Pillsbury Promo, but I’ll head to the stores to check today. I’m sure many of you will beat me there, so PLEASE, someone look at the FROZEN pillsbury items and see if they’re tagged “Buy 4, Save $4″. Thanks Annaliese!

      • Joanie

I called my Safeway and was told only the refrigerated pillsbury items are participating in the “buy 4, save 4″

  • amy

THANK you for making this list, I didn’t really see how GREAT of a savings this could be. Now I am officially going to have to plug the spare fridge in the garage in, so I can have it for freezer space. Definitely need to make a Safeway run, hopefully it’s not too picked over.

    • Joanie

I know, I need a second freezer so badly! Remember the deal is good all month, so you can hopefully find everything you need in stock at some point!

  • Suz

Just wanted to point out that there were $2 off one TGI Fridays Skillet Meals in a recent coupon insert (I clip and don’t know which it was from) bringing the price down to $2.99 after cat!

    • Joanie

Thank you Suz! I missed that one. It’s added now!

    • Patty

I was just going through the comments because I wanted to let everyone know that there was a coupon for TGI Friday Skillet. You beat me to it. LOL

  • Mimi

    Hello again!
    Thanks for the quick response.

I understand you take 40% off final price yet I still don’t understand how 40% of $1 is 20 cents.

    El Monterey Tornados $2.00
    $1.00/1 – El Monterey Tornados, 8.4 oz box –
    Final Price: $0.20

    Thanks in advance again!
Looking forward to your response so I can head out to Safeway too! :D

    • Dianne

$2.00 x 60% (after cat) -$1.00 MQ = $.20 YEAH!!! love these thing too. great deal.

      • julie

Are the tornados really a participating item in your safeway? It’s not so in mine. :(

  • Christa

It looks like the $1.25/1 Yoplait Frozen Smoothie coupon at Bricks is still working (http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=za1hfho93975810&bt=vg&o=60170&ci=1&c=GM&p=HbzuM6Cm) so it looks like it will bring the smoothie price down to $0.55/1 now?

    • Joanie

Thank you Christa! I’ll add it now!

  • Shanna

I hate to tell you, but I think a lot of your math is wrong:
    example:
Bertolli Dinner for Two, including Mediterranean $6.99
    $1.00/1 – Bertolli Mediterranean Style Meal FrozenMeals – (coupons.com)
    Final Price: $3.19

    However, 6.99 – 1.00 = 5.99
    5.99 * 60% = $3.59, not $3.19
    or
    5.99 * 40% = 2.40, then 5.99 – 2.40 = 3.59

    Either way $3.59, not $3.19.

Several (most) other listings are also incorrect.

    • Joanie

When calculating, you’ll need to take the 40% off the price before coupons. That’s how I compute my prices.

      $6.99 * 60%= $4.19
      - $1.00 coupon = $3.19

      • Shanna

so do you give the coupons before your store card?

      • Shanna

no, i get it i guess. ok. sorry. i really do love your site. my husband thinks i’m addicted.

      • Joanie Demer

you can give store card at any point. i usually punch in my phone number to the credit card keypad while the cashier rings my items through. Then, I hand over my coupons wants all the items have been rung up.

  • Dianne

Okay, so I looked through all the comments and didn’t see this addressed. My cat, which I rolled the P&G into the frozen deal says OYN FROZEN order, not ANY. I know that I have heard that it is not, but is it or isn’t it? Do all of yours say the same thing or is it just my Safeway?

    • Patty

Mine says it but I pointed out to customer service that the add says $10.00 of your next order. It does not say anything about only freezer items in the ad. They told me that it can be used for anything. (We will see).

    • Rachel

Mine also says OYN Frozen order, so I was wondering the same thing. I do plan on doing this promo a few more times, but in the end, I’d like to use the $10 cat on other items. You know!

I’ll preface this by saying, I have not done it myself, but the catalinas will be good on any purchase- I’m 99.999999% sure of this!

1st, the print advertising designates $10 off future order (no frozen foods restriction)

2nd, there would not be a way to code the barcode to only take $10 off frozen items. It will scan through for your $10 purchase on any items (there are often exclusions for alcohol, lottery and sometimes milk. . .)

3rd, personally, I’ll be using all buy one of my catalinas to roll onto subsequent frozen foods purchases anyway!

At Randalls: Kellogs cereal is running a $4 catalina for 5 boxes (thru 3/10). There is a coupon in Sunday’s ad (thru 3/6) with Rice Krispies on it but is good for several varieties. It gives a price of $1.49 for 3. In the cereal aisle were coupons for &.70 off one box (I took 5). I bought Fruit Loops and Corn Pops (5 total). The non-coupon price was $2.50 each. Between the coupons and the catalina, I spent $.40 per box.
I just did it again this morning and got 5 more boxes (apple jacks in the mix this time) for $.40 each.

How are you able to do mutiple transaction in one day? At the bottom of my ad it specifically states limit of one transaction per card per day. The catalina coupon I receive also limits purchases to frozen food items only.

    • Joanie Demer

Sue, I hadn’t seen this. I’ve been working with the online ad and haven’t grabbed a print ad yet, so I missed it. Luckily there are almost 30 days left for this promo; that’s more than enough transactions for me!

  • JJ

http://morningstarfarms.com/ click on to take your lunch break and drag the small screen over to reveal the lasagna. Then you can print a $1 coupon for the morning star lasagna. back works for 2, but can’t print he chicken one later.

Oh man, I just made my poor checker re-do a whole order because my total came out 24.95. Poor guy! He was really great about it. If you have trouble with your cats printing make sure you are at 25.00 before coupons. My bad. (I blame it on my pregnant brain!)

  • amy

I was able to do more than one transaction in one day, I just separated them on the belt. The price must hit $25 AFTER your safeway card is scanned, but it can be $25 BEFORE regular coupons. One of the best deals I grabbed tonight was the Ellios pizza, it is included in the sale and it’s buy 1 get one free, at $3.49 for one. I know there was a newspaper $1 off coupon just a few weeks ago, I had already used mine though:( just make sure if you use those in your total, you only add $3.49 for each 2 you buy to get to your $25 total.

I just tried to use the $10 on my next purchase for diapers and the cashier wouldn’t let me b/c it says for frozen foods only. The cashier tried to run it through anyways and it wouldn’t take. I would have complained to a manager but I had cranky kids. I think I will be going back to protest though b/c I have read of others doing the same on different blogs. So frustrating!

    • rose

I think they changed the catalina today to say you can only use it on frozen food. I was talking to the manager and she told me they had some big conference call today about it. bummer.

  • Sandy

Ok so I just got back from Safeway and I spent 25 dollars before coupons on items that were clearly marked as being part of this frozen food deal… But the Catalina didnt print grrrr. But I was wondering if it was because I used a 10 dollar catalina from last night to pay for tonight? Or should I still have gotten the catalina?

    • amy

if you truly spent over $25 once your club card was swiped and have only items marked for the sale you still should have gotten it even with using the $10 catalina, I used a $10 catalina on another $25 purchase today and a $10 catalina printed out. My FREEZER and spare one are stuffed to the gills! Pizza, tornados and veggies are the bulk of it.haha

So I did my Safeway deal and it was kind of a disaster! I planned it before I went and not all of the items ended up being part of it…my fault, I should have double checked the tags. At my Safeway the things that weren’t part of it were: Pillsbury Savorings, Michael Angelo’s and Healthy Choice. I ended up spending more than I planned but still got a good deal!

  • http://thatcoupongirl.blogspot.com Jess @ That Coupon Girl

Woo! I’m loving this deal! Just did 2 transactions tonight for 79% savings! I have a picture and detail on my blog post: http://thatcoupongirl.blogspot.com/2010/03/my-vons-trip-to-frozen-food-aisle-79.html

  • Mimi

Oooh, you did the 40% before coupons. Gotcha. :D Thanks for the explaination. Sorry I got you confused to Shana!! Hehehhehehee

  • Mimi

OMGG Then this is REALLY A GOOOD DEAL!!! Thanksssss Ladies!

  • Amanda

Went today and was very careful – I made sure all of my items participated and my total was $25 before coupons. I did 2 transactions and neither of the catlinas printed . It was very frustrating and the manager was not very nice. First they agreed to give me 1 $10 gift card. When I explained that I had done it twice and threatened to return all my groceries, they finally gave me $20 in gift cards (but I’m sure they just wanted to get the krazy coupon lady out of the store!!) I’m not sure if I’m going back….

  • paivi

I’d just like to point out that it seems that Hot Pockets sideshots doesn’t belong to the promo. Please correct me if i’m wrong. I went in yesterday attempting to do the promo and didn’t get Catalina. I decided to try to do other scenario today and found the master list for the items that are participating and it seems hot pockets isn’t on the list. I know it’s my fault not checking the store tags, but sometimes they aren’t present even if item belongs to the promo. It might be a good idea to remove the hot pockets from the list, so nobody else make the same mistake and miss out on the catalina they were expecting. thanks :)

  • http://www.graysharbordeals.com Annaliese

I printed your list and went to our store so I could post our local prices to my blog since I’ve found that they often vary. I found that participating items and prices were different on quite a few items, so everyone may want to realize that prices/products may be regional. Make sure you check the tags to make sure the products are participating and look at the prices so that you don’t accidentally have a scenario that is less than $25!

  • Amy

I’ve done several transactions over the last few weeks and everything has gone great….up until today. :( My guess is that it was the old orchard juices. They weren’t marked with the special tag, but I thought I’d try it anyway since it was on your list. I had several items plus the Old Orchard Juices. My total was $26 something (before q’s). Didn’t work….cataline didn’t print! Booooo! I might try calling the catalina company just in case. Either way…..still getting great deals and stocking my freezer!!! Thanks for putting this list together!
