COMPLETE DOUCHEBAG IDIOTS AT WEST SEATTLE TARGET. THREE IGNORANT EMPLOYEES 2 MGRS 1 EMP TRIED TO TELL ME ONE MANUFACTURER’S COUPON ********PER TRANSACTION****** AND THAT ALL MY ITEMS NEEDED TO BE RUNG UP SEPERATELY PER THE “NEW COUPON POLICY 4 DAYS AGO”. I ASKED FOR SAID POLICY WHICH COULDN’T BE PRODUCED. MY JOHN FREIDA COUPON SAID ONE PER PURCHASE. DIPSHIT DOUCHBAG DOUG GENERAL ASSHOLE SAID “PURCHASE, TRANSACTION, THEY’RE NO DIFFERENT” OH MY GOL I HATE THAT TARGET AND I’M NEVER SHOPPING THERE AGAIN. COMPLETE IGNORAMOUSES. sorry so upset, but it’s because i was totally humiliated in front of everyone by being treated like couponing is stealing. i just left there with nothing because i refused to buy anything after being shouted at that each and every manufacturer’s coupon needed to be rung up seperately by three different ignoramous employees and that they were doing me a FAVOR ringing three in one transaction. call the 800 number i know, nothing will ever come of that. called many different general managers at different targets in my area, they said i was right and they never heared of that policy UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGG I HATE TARGET.

Similar thing happened to be but with the razors. I went to make the purchase with 4 razors and four coupons and the cashier told me I could only use one coupon per transaction. I am so confused of their policy. Also earlier in the week re: the John Frieda products) a manager told me I could only use 4 of the same coupons per transaction, then later in the week I was told two, now one? Has anyone spoken to someone corporate regarding what the policy actually is?

went today with the $2.00/1 John Frieda Hair Care from SS 6/5 coupon thinking I am just going to get 1 Root Awakening Conditioner. at check out, i got a coupon for $3/2 Root Awakening Product. so i went in again and got 2 Root Awakening Shampoo ($4.99 ea) and 1 Full Repair Treatment (too bad there are only the $8.99 treatment left). Paid $12.33 for 3 (used the $5 off coupon and the $3/2 target coupon) and a $5 GC.
So in total, I got 3 shampoo/conditioner and 1 treatment for $15.67 and $5 GC or $2.67 each.

Ok I have an issue the $5/1 coupon on the coupon itself says one coupon per item per transaction now i went along my merry way to pay and they wouldnt except the $5/1 AND the $3/2 it was either or but I stood and argued to the point where I was just done I left empty handed please help if there is something somewhere that stipulates otherwise!

Reply

My coupon does not say “per transaction”??? I got the $5/1 John Frieda too, but on mine the wording says one coupon per purchase (which means per item)…I still had to explain to my cashier what this meant, because she thought per purchase meant per transaction as well. Are you sure your coupon says per purchase per transaction? I would double check to make sure. There has been alot of people doing this deal that have been successful.

Reply

I went to another target today and it worked the other one I went to yesterday i guess it was the store AND managers so I know which one to go to now!!

Reply

Went to target to get this today and didn’t have any problems. Got 6 of the John Frieda and used 6 $5/1 coupon and 2 target coupons. Got 2 $5 gift cards and used them to get my 3 pkgs of huggies diapers. I already had 1 gift card so I used the 3 gift cards to purchase my diapers and paid $8 and still walked out with a $5 gift card from the diaper purchase. It was great I got all of this and paid less than I would have for the 1 package of dipers on sale.

Reply

I didn’t know it was okay to use a gift card that you got from your 1st transaction on a 2nd action with a gift card deal…I will try it next time.

Reply

I almost don’t want to post this b/c I’m planning on going back to see if there are more available, but yesterday I found a full repair value pack marked down from $12.99 to $2.38!!! That combined with the $5 off any 1 full repair coupon and the gift card promo was a huge moneymaker! Even better than I thought it would be! It was on a random shelf by pet supplies as if it had been discarded there, so I’m planning on scouring the store for more! I shopped at a Target in northern Illinois, just outside of Chicago.

Reply

I tried 2 different Targets and the shelves were cleared! I have one more Target to try, let’s hope someone stalked their shelves:-)

Reply

I am totallly frustrated. Apparantly, the entire Denver metro area is out of the products. I have had them check other stores and called to confirm to find out that the shelf counts don’t update for up to 72 hours. Target is not doing well at anticipating demand or coordinating with the manufacturer. None of the stores I talked are getting any of the product in before the sale is over. Seriously….

Reply

I am afraid the the first scenario at Target is not correct. If the product costs $5.99, when you buy 3 you will pay, after the 3 $5.00 MF coupon $2.97 out of pocket and get the $5.00 gift card.

Reply

I thnk you are missing the $3/2 Target coupon.

Reply

A lot of the John Frieda products included in the $5 gift card deal were on sale for $4.99 with 3 $3off coupons I paid $5.97 for 3 and received the $5 gift card. Pretty amazing deal on an otherwise pricey product!! =)

Did the $5.00/1 John Frieda Full Repair Treatment, Styler or Finisher from SS 6/5 (regional) come in the Idaho Statesman? I didn’t get one in mine :(

rite aid has them on sale for 4.99! i got 8 FREE today with the $5 coupon. Plus there was a $2.00 coupon in the smart source along with the $5 one. It does not say you cant get trail sizes…so rite aid has travel bottles of the shampoo and conditioner for $1.59…so i used the $2 coupons on 8 bottles and made $3.28 to spend on something else!

Did you purchase all 8 in one transaction? I thought Rite Aids new policy limited costumers to only 4 like items per costumer…I’m asking because I received the John Frieda $5.00/1 coupon and have like 14 of them left. I used 6 at Target along with 2 $3.00/2 Target coupons, but my Target’s drama, so I would like to use the rest of my coupons, with no hassle from cashiers misunderstanding the coupons verbage.

Reply

I am new to this and was wondering if someone could tell me if target is anything like walgreens. Walgreens (I just learned recently) that we can’t get a register reward on an item that we used a register reward on. Is this the same for Target with their gift card rewards? We won’t get a gift card reward on a transaction that we used a gift card reward on? Thanks

Reply

I think it will work. Someone above posted that they did the John Frieda deal (twice) and received $10 in gift cards than purchased the diaper deal and paid using the gift cards from the 1st transaction and it still generated the $5 gift card for the diapers!

I was unable to do this deal because the checker and 2 of her managers said that per purchase was the same as per transaction. Mission Viejo, CA. Even though I tried to politely explain to them the difference, they would not accept it. Even for the Seattle’s Best 9.5 oz Canned Coffee drink. So I took off the John Frieda and had them ring up my 2 Coffee drinks seperately with 1 coupon per transaction, since all 3 (checker and managers) could not understand the term of per purchase. Ralph’s had no problem understanding the term per purchase for the coffee drinks, and I used 5 coupons for 5 drinks.

Reply

I actually had the same thing happy at Walmart the other night. They tried saying they’d need to ring each seperately. I explained to them 99% of coupons say ‘Per Purchase’ and asked if they ring all coupons like that. Thats the only way I could get the supervisor and the cashier to understand.

Reply

it is so frustrating when the cashiers and “upper management” aren’t properly trained to know the difference between per purchase and per transaction! Target should host some better training seminars for their employees!!

Reply

Could you please correct the information given! The $5/1 John Frieda Full Repair states only treatment, stylerk, and finisher. This excludes the shampoos and conditioner for the Full Repair line. There have been a lot of people going out and using this coupon for the shampoo and conditioner. It’s a misuse of coupon. Can you please correct the information you have above!

Reply

I read on another coupon site that someone contacted John Frieda and that these in fact could be used on the Full Repair shampoo and conditioner but only on the Full Repair line (the red bottles).

Reply

The shampoo and conditioner are considered treatments (they repair damaged/colored hair) and are part of the Full Repair line…just look on the tube itself (pretty self explanatory to me).

I just did this in NYC of all places at target. I bought the root lift, the conditioner cause they were both 5.99, everything else was 8.99 and up. I know the other John Frieda stuff could be combined with the buy 3 and get a gift card, but I only had the 2 off coupon for that. I ended up getting an 8.99 item, and used all the $5 off coupon on the three, and the target coupon, my total was $3 OOP before they added tax on. but hey, its a pretty good deal. Thanks Krazy Coupon Lady! I have 3 more $5 off coupons that I intend to hit target tomorrow with.

Well I am on my way to Target to try to attempt this deal again…this time using the “calculation” (found on the TOTALLY TARGET blog) to override this “pretend $10 gift card glitch” …hope everything goes through :/

Reply

SUCCESS!! I did the deal using the “calculation” to override the glitch and it worked out AWESOME! I purchased all 3 John Frieda products. I purchased $10.03 in other grocery items that I needed and put those to be scanned first, and the John Frieda last. I used my 3 $5.00/1 MQ and handed over my TQ for $3.00/2 last. I did have to tell the cashier to issue out the gift card at the end of the transaction, just to make sure my coupons went through okay. Every coupon scanned for the exact price…all I paid OOP was $0.80 (this was even less than I had expected) I suppose for tax :) Thank you so much to TOTALLY TARGET for posting the information about the Target gift card glitch!! I guess some Targets have yet to fix this problem.

The glitch happened to my friend and I as well, so for no joke.. 20 MINUTES i argued with them. They tried to tell me that a coupon only takes of up to and amount of the face value, I told them that was not correct in the least bit, unless the item was less than the face value of a coupon, then she told me that target doesnt have such a thing as a manager, but only a “leader on duty” when i asked for a manager.. so as politely as possible, i asked if i could speak to this leader on duty. She came over, rolles her eyes.. and without even speaking to me adjusted the coupon value from .81 to 5. I got my deal, but oh boy… it was difficult one to get.

Reply

I tried to get this morning and it didnt work like I thought it would, the last 5.00 coupon was reduce to 0.81 but I am going to go back Friday, I WANT THAT GIFT CARD!!!

Reply

The same thing happened to me. One of my coupons only rang up for $2.97, but I did another transaction at a different Target store and it worked out. Beware of Target. I searched the internet and they have a history of not giving the full value of coupons and making $$ off the coupons from the manufacturer.

Reply

Did you do anything different the 2nd time around or the exact same purchase…3 John Frieda items, with the (3) $5/1 JF MQ and (1) $3/2 JF TQ??

Reply

I actually did this purchase 4 times. The first time, I purchased an additional JF hair care item and all 4 $5 off coupons came off. The second time the 3rd coupon only scanned off $3.99 (because one item was $8.??) and on the last two transactions I got only the 2.97 off twice. On the last three I used (3) $5/1 JF MQ and (1) $3/2 JF TQ on the 1st I used (4) $5/1 JF MQ and (1) $3/2 JF TQ. So after reading the comments on your posts I think I am understanding the unwritten gift card thing. (btw so sorry about your trip to Target today) Maybe you should copy my 1st transaction. I may try it again tomorrow. Just trying to maximize my coupons. I am still mad that target is going to get the full $5 from the manufacturer.

Reply

i tried this transaction today and i was able to get 3 for 2.91 + the $5 gift card, although i was able to use the $5.00 coupon your better off using 2 $5 coupons and the $3/2 coupon insted of 3 $5.00 coupons because the computer is programed so it cant discount the total any further then what its giving you in gift cards so there for if you use 3 $5 coupons 2 of them will go through as $5 but the 3rd will go through for about $2.43 and and the $3/2 coupon wont discount nothing off your total. hope this helps

Reply

I agree with only using 2 off the $5 one because on the third $5 off coupon, it only took off 0.81 cents

I just got back from my Target and must say it was one of the most horrible experiences I have had using coupons and taking advantage of the gift card deal (I wish I would have read about the “Target glitch” before going to do this deal).

I went to get the John Frieda buy 3 get a $5 gift card deal and thought everything was going to go smoothly (I’ve only been using coupons for a month). At the register the cashier scanned my 3 products, I handed her over the (3) $5/1 John Frieda MQ and (1) $3/2 John Frieda TQ. The balance came to $2.97 this wasn’t the total that I was expecting, so I asked her if she rang up all the Q’s including the TQ and she said one of the MQ was not ringing up at all, because I had to many coupons and not enough items to use them on. She called over her supervisor for help and the sup told me that I couldn’t use all 3 MQ in the same transaction, she said the only way she could take the MQ was if I purchased the items in separate transactions!

After going back and forth explaining how coupons work, how to stack a TQ with a MQ, showing them their own coupon policy, and many other things, I stopped wasting my breathe and asked to speak with someone above the supervisor. When the supervisor told me she was the only one to solve this, I asked to speak with the store manager. They had me waiting for about 30 minutes, before the supervisor (not store manager) came back down again and said that she will let it go this time and allow me to use 3 MQ on the 3 items in 1 transaction “this time” , but that they weren’t supposed to (no where on the MQ did it say “per transaction” this girl had no clue what purchase and transaction meant). Anyways the computer still would not allow the MQ to go through for $5, the first 2 went through fine but the 3rd MQ and the TQ would not go through. At this point I gave up… I was tired, my back was killing me (6 months preggo) and the cashiers and supervisor did not have a clue as to how to enter the coupons or by-pass this “glitch”. I came home checked out a post that was on the TOTALLY TARGET blog and read up on Target’s “gift card glitch”. I wish I would have caught it earlier before going for this deal. I am going to try this deal out again tomorrow ( that’s when my $3/2 TQ expires) .

Should I take in the information on this “glitch” and show it to the same supervisor or just use the calculation given on the TOTALLY TARGET blog to bypass this glitch and attempt to go through a different cashier using this calculation?

Reply

i had this same issue but about the 3rd coupon it was explained to me y the coupon gets reduced and its do to the fact that the price cant be dropped any lower then 50% of what they are giving you in gift cards so if you get 3 and use 2 $5 coupons and $3/2 coupon you don’t loose your $5.00 coupon and you will get the same amount discounted plus you get the gift card. hope this helps

Reply

I was probably better off paying the $2.97 OOP now that I think about it.When the cashier first rang my transaction up, the total ahter my 3 MQ’s was $2.97. I should have been satisfied with that, it would have saved me a lot of headache and I still would have went home with 3 shampoo’s for .99 and my $5 gift card :( Now I don’t know if these shampoo’s will be there tomorrow ( I had grabbed the last 6 on the shelf)!

Reply

The Target in Lowell, MA would not allow multiple John Freida coupons to be used in a single transaction. They said the coupon’s language “Limit one coupon per purchase on specified product” meant that each product must be purchased separately. Wish I’d trusted my gut and gone directly to customer service instead of going through a register where no less than four Target employees ranted at me about coupon usage and treated me like I was trying to rob the store.

Reply

Oops…..meant “John Frieda”. Love the full repair product line…sad that I left the store empty handed.

Reply

I was also given this same comment from a Target supervisor here in So. Cal (so lame) No where on the MQ does it say per transaction. These people need some proper coupon training.

Reply

At my Target in Longmont, CO there is a sign ( a basic Target issued sign!) on the right of the lane (end cap area)that states that “we will gladly except one MQ and one TQ per item purchased…or simular wording. Perhaps you should look for that sign! So glad I have never had any problems that other people have spoke of. I would point out to cashiers that Target, or any other store, is not losing any money on this…they will be reimbursed for the coupons NO MATTER HOW MANY WE BUY AT ONE TIME!!!!
Also want to mention that I got my $5 Gift Card…plus a Catalina coupon for $3 off two John Freida products! Wil go back and get three more, use the Catalina, plus another $2 off one, pay with my GC, pay $5 OOP….and get another $5 gift card!! So basically get three more for free!

Reply

I had the Target coupon policy with me and actually showed the cashier and supervisor that target does accept 1 MQ and TQ per item…I don’t think they were educated properly on their own policy or coupon lingo.

Reply

Glad I saw this, I will stay away from the Lowell Target! I live in Wilmington and usually go to Woburn, but for every JF deal, by the time I get there the shelf is wiped out, so I end up going to Methuen or Salem NH, and was thinking about trying Lowell. Now I know to stay away!

Reply

Hi, I’m new at couponing and I also had to pay $2.97 OOP. Does this happen to all deals that should come out to be free? Do you always have an OOP cost? or is it just Target?

I am curious about which “regions” get the same Smartsource as KCL does. I bought 2 different papers this weekend with 2 different Smartsources in them, but neither had the $5 off John Frieda coupon. One insert had the $2 off any product and the $3 off color foam coupons, and the other insert had no John Frieda coupons at all. How many different regions are there for SS inserts? I get so bummed everytime I read that a coupon on here is “regional” because I can’t seem to find a paper with those same inserts. Any one know anything about it?! Thanks!!

am i missing something??? the $5/1 coupon is for treatment products so technically it can not be used on shampoo/conditioner. isnt this misue of the coupons?? even though it would scan fine, you shouldnt be using this on shampoo/conditioner.

Reply

I used mine today, but I believe the coupon said on any Full Repair product.

Reply

No. If you take the time to actually read the coupon it does not say off any full repair item….. it says on any full repair treatment, styler or finisher. So everyone on here using the coupon for the shampoo and conditioner is misusing the coupon. Use common sense… shampoo and conditioner is not a treatment.. I’m just pointing out … everyone gets mad at extreme couponers and how stores are cracking down because people aren’t using coupons correctly.

Reply

the conditioner/shampoo is a treament, it says on bottles that is used to treat damaged hair, u can use it along with all the treatments. So yes, the shampoo and conditioner are treatments, read the prodcut :)

I just went to target and the checker would only take 1 of my $5 coupons and my $3 Target couon. So I paid $10 OOP. I went to customer service & they gladly gave me my $10 back. The checker claimed the coupon said only one can be redeemed at a time. When it really says only one per item NOT TRANSACTION!!!!

Reply

okay so how are you getting the coupons to print off at target.com? I have changed my search engine so many times and nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions?

Reply

for the styler/treatment deal it would only end up being no $ OOP if your target allows coupon overage from the $3/2 to cover the remaining dollar right? My target usually reduces the coupon to the price of the item, so that would make this deal .99 OOP. However, do you think it would work to buy a 4th styler/treatment and use 4 $5/1 and 2 $3/2? If so you would end up with 4 for free plus a $5 gift card… Does this make sense and do you think it would work? I’m kind of new to this so I’m not sure.

Nice deal did get the last couple at my Target this morning. Took advantage of the Huggies deal as well. Went back twice for that one. Nice !!! Saving the 5.00 gift cards for Christmas time. Thank you for that information ladies.

I had to add, I got a 3.50 Huggies Target coupon for a 88pack or higher count catalina. Nice pair it with your 2.00 off huggies and that makes for 5.50 off a box Yeehawwwwwwww:)))))

Has anyone tried this transaction and had it actually work? I keep hearing that the registers are reducing coupons so that the value doesn’t fall below the $5 gift card.

Reply

what? That doesn’t make sense? Do you get a $5 gift card seperately or just off your order? its only a 0.03 overage? SOMETIMES target gets on my nerves

I have the $5/1 and will go today. How does the gift card work? Is the cashier just prompted to scan a $5 GC after the transaction? Thanks.

Anyone know if Target will restock their shelves went to 2 different Targets and product was low, I did my 3+ gift card, but I do have another set of coupons.

In Nashville the coupon in the SS ad was for $2 off. In Sacramento(where my parents live) they said the coupon is for $3 off. Does anyone know the region(s) that got the $5 off version?

I live in Denver and got the $5 off Full Repair styling, $2 off any and $3 off Precision Hair Foam for John Frieda in my Smartsource yesterday if that helps anyone!

Reply

The John Frieda coupon in my region is only $2 off any product. I don’t understand why they make them so different for health and beauty products. The prices from state to state are about the same.

Reply

I checked my SS for 6/5 and it only came with a $2 off coupon :(

Reply

The $5 coupon isn’t in my ss insert and I can’t find it on their website. Any suggestions where to look?

Reply

My coupons in ss 6/5 were for foam hair color. Target didn’t even have this product either. Screwed me all up :(

Reply

Thank you! I haven’t had to go through all my coupons from yesterday yet, (we had company) but I’ll be looking for them soon! Can’t wait to get this deal! Thanks again!

Reply

I didn’t get that coupon in my SS ughhhhh. Is there anywhere I can print it?

Reply

the $5/1 coupon came out in the smart source inert this past weekend

Reply

where is everyone getting the $5 coupons? I went to smart source online and can’t find it. anyone have any zip codes I should try?

Reply

@Amanda: Mine were in the SS 6/5 newspaper insert.

Here in Nashville, the coupon in the SS ad was for $2 off. In Sacramento, California (where my parents live) they said the coupon is for $3 off. Does anyone know the region(s) that got the $5 off version?

Thankyou so much Jenn! That makes it much easier for me to understand!

I don’t really go beyond shampoo or conditioners — but this is a transaction I’d like to try at Target. Will try to find out what might be considered a “styler or treatment. Hair gels I’m assuming. My sister whose a hair stylist will greatly appreciate it!

target sends out a coupon book each month and they all are for diiferent products this month it just happens to be beauty. they go out to neighborhoods and people that live within so many miles to a target store. they cant be requested but you can sometimes buy them off people on ebay

Reply

Target Beauty Book was a coupon book included a free Target Beauty Bag with some free beauty samples in it. The beauty bag was a promotion you could sign up for early this year.

Reply

The Target Beauty Book was a promo that Target ran a few months ago, they are no longer available. You can however print the $3/2 John Freida Full Repair at Target.com :)

Reply

Can you get more than 1 giftcard, for example, if I bought 6? Or is it limit one per transaction?

Reply

I have combined the same gift card promo in the same transaction and didn’t have a problem but it might depend on the store.

I am trying to understand the lingo on couponing. I would like to attempt this buy on the John Frieda products at target. Can someone break it down for me on the best way to get this deal. Do I need 3 of the $5.00 off coupon in order to do this? A little confused here.

Reply

Yes, you would need 3 of the $5 off coupon, one per item which would bring the price of each product down to 99 cents. Then you would you use the $3 off of 2 John Freida Full Repair item available at target.com since you can stack Target coupons with manufacturer’s coupons. This makes the final cost $0 and you will receive a $5 Target gift card that makes it a $5 Moneymaker!!

My target will not accept this, I don’t understand why!

How do I get a target beauty book?

Reply

Where does everyone get the target beauty book and the regional coupons? We live in Michigan and I’ve never seen anything like that here. Thanks!

Reply

I have been wondering the same thing. Where can you get the target beauty book?

Reply

target website has printable coupons

Reply

Can I use coupons from a different region in my region? Like if I had a sister from another region who didn’t coupon, but was willing to mail me her unused coupons? Would the store accept them? I’ve only been couponing for about 2 weeks. Extremely addicting, btw! Lol! Thanks KCL!

Reply

I don’t think that you can use the $5 coupon on shampoo or conditioner so this deal won’t work. I don’t believe that shampoo or conditioner would qualify as a treatment.

Reply

There are many Full Repair items at $5.99.

Reply

The full repair shampoo and conditioner are included. But my Target would only let me use 2 of the $5 off coupons because the price of all items in the deal can’t drop below the value of the gift card. :( But $7.49 for 1 shampoo and 2 conditions and a $5 gift card is not a bad deal!

Reply

I used the $5 coupon on the Shampoo and Conditioner last night and it worked for me :-)

Reply

I have a free coupon for John Frieda hair foam. Does anyone know if the hair foam is included in the deal?

Reply

No, hair foam is not included. That would be a great deal

Reply

What does regional mean. I can’t find the $5.00 coupon in my SS from 6/5/11 there is only a $2.00 and $3.00 one for foam. Can you help me with this question? Thanks
