CVS Extreme Couponing (Week of 7/3): $5.00 or Less

Welcome to this post where we will lay out some extreme couponing deals that will cost you about $5.00 out of pocket each week!  First, here’s everything you need to know about shopping at CVS:

CVS allows one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon per product. You may use CVS Extra Bucks (ECBs) in addition to these coupons.  Extra Bucks are their rewards that are printed  at the end of your cash register receipt. These coupons can be used on your next purchase.  Remember, if there is a limit in the ad for the Extra Bucks items, this limit is per CVS Extra Care Card.

The best deals to be had at CVS are “Extra Bucks” offers.  The best thing about CVS is their rainchecks, which include the “Extra Buck” offers so you can still get the offer when they have more stock!  Be sure and get your CVS card so you can enjoy these extreme savings!  Be sure and read the CVS coupon policyYou can also go here and review the CVS How To Video.

My VERY favorite thing about CVS is their Rain Checks!  A Rain Check is a slip of paper that you can get from a store when they are out of an item that is on sale. The slip of paper allows you to come back when they have the item again in stock and purchase it for the sale price.   Rain checks are written taking the Extra Bucks into effect.  At CVS, rain checks do not expire!  So, when you run into a cleared shelf, consider getting a Rain Check!

Hi, i am new to this whole couponing at CVS thing, so i was wondering, i went to CVS today and got the 3 oral-b crossaction toothbrush’s that were on sale for $3.00. I used the 3 PG 7/3 coupons for 3 of the toothbrush’s. So i paid $3. and recieve $2 EB, which would have made my purchase free. Now, when the EB print at the end of my receipt i should have recieved 3 $2.00 EB? is this correct?

The coupon is $3 off a styler when you buy another aussie product. You would have to buy 4 aussie products to use 2 coupons.

Please check the CVS coupon policy, I was in CVS and the supervisor told me they have changed their coupon policy as of 7/1/11. I had a manufacturer buy one get one free and another manufacture coupon for a $1.00 off and they said I could only use one or the other as of 7/1/11 the coupon policy has changed. Just f.y.i.

Our Wags is different than this one. Our Wags had Tampax pearls for $4.99 and Pepsi was on sale for .88 so needless to say I didn’t do that.
Also, went to Walmart and found the Gillette Fusion Proglide on clearance for $5.00. Used my $4.00 coupon and only paid $1.00. I bought all 4 that were there.

I am new to couponing. What is the best way to get more tthan 1 set of coupons each week. I sometimes buy the double paper, but i am wondering how to get more sets of coupons without buying more newspapers.

I’m going to try it today. I’ve read where other people use them on top of the ones on their receipt. The website says to print them, so I think we should take advantage of it.

  14. Nauticainxsc says:

I was wondering the same thing. Why would they allow you to print them if not to use them? Sometimes they take them and sometimes they don’t. When u print them at home they sometimes come out with a different card number. Can someone explain how these work?

  15. So I need somebody’s opinion/help. I went to CVS today and made several purchases among them a shampoo and hairspray from Herbal essences and two toothbrushes (advertised ones). I walked out of the store and realized I got the wrong toothbrush (which wouldn’t give me ecb and was $1 more expensive) AND I forgot to use a $2/2 coupon from the red coupon cvs machine for the herbal essences. So I went back and asked if I could return the items and do those items again so I could use the $2 coupon and get the cheaper toothbrush (a $3 dollar difference).

I spent 30 minutes waiting for the cashier who annoyingly tried different things and called two different supervisors because she didn’t know what to do.In the end she said the only thing they could do for me was return those items, give me $2.60 back and purchase those items again….(they were not even going to give me my coupons back for those items until I told her that was not fair!). I paid 3.97 for the Herbal essences and $1 for the toothbrush initially (already with coupons discounted) and I only got 2.60 back when I did the return. The total turned out to be 5 something.

Shouldn’t it have been exactly the same thing as I got back?! I was lost at this point and utterly annoyed by not only the whole thing but the behavior of both supervisors who made me feel like I was stealing or doing something bad. she said told me the total, I handed her the additional $2 coupon and the money I got from the return I still had a $1.60 difference to pay!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m so frustrated because I feel like I got ripped off. :/ I know it is only $3 but I feel like its the moral of not letting this happen to others. ANyone have suggestions or have dealt with this?

When I went to CVS this morning I noticed Herbal Essense is 2/$6.97 and get a $1 EB. There is a $3.00 off coupon in todays P&G. Save $6 on 2, get $1 back, and you have a $.03 money maker :). Not sure if they are onsale in the ad or if it is a month long ordeal. Either way, free stuff! :)

    • Lesley H. says:

The $3 off coupon that I got was for $3 off a styling product when you buy a shampoo or conditioner. Did anyone else get that coupon, too?

      • Winikj says:

That is the one I got and used at Wags, $3 for shampoo and used a $1 off and got a $3 deep conditioner free with the $3 coupon.

The coupon states $3 off 1 herbel or aussie styler when you purchase 1 herbal or aussie product… did you use 2 coupons and get 4 products or just the 2 products and 2 $3 coupons?

I had a coupon that said $1 off herbal or aussie styler when you purchase another 1, but my $3 off just said off any Herbal Shampoo , Conditioner, or Styler thats why I was suprised at how good a deal a got.

        • ok i have a $1 off any herbal or aussie product and a $3 off one herbal or aussie styler when you purchase one herbal or aussie product… did you use both coupons? i’m trying to get my order figured out before i go to cvs.. thanks…

  27. anonymous says:

I did the razor!!! but she would neither take the BOGO free and the other coupon for the toothbrushes nor take the coupon PG 6/5 with today’s coupon! Therefore we did not get the toothbrushes but did get the pads. Oh and we have three cvs cards and therefore got 3 free air delight bars!!! (yes it’s back!)

  28. Shannon says:

Our CVS had the Dr Pepper 12 packs 3/$7. They had a sign out that they had $3 q’s at the register. At check out, they scanned (3) $1 man q’s, making it (3) 12 packs for $4.

  29. MS says:

I just bought 2 Oral B Pulsar toothbrushes, 1 Tampax pearl, 2 Oral B Cross Action toothbrushes, and an extra copy of the paper. I used 1 B1G1 and 1 $2/1 Oral B Cross Action, 1 $1/1 Tax Pearl, and 2 $3 off Oral B Pulsar.

Not sure what happened with the B1G1 coupon, but it took $4.99 off my total even though the toothbrush only cost $3 on sale. My total was $6.73, I used $6.76 in ECB, and I got back $11 ECB (6 ECB for the pulsar, 2 ECB for the Tampax, 2 ECB for the Cross Action, and 1 ECB for the Green Bag Tag.

    • tuscalooso says:

Happened at my CVS too. The register automatically recognized the Cross Action as 4.99. I noticed the cashiers don’t follow the coupons if they scan without beeping. I tell them that it didn’t ring up right, but they don’t get it most of the time.

  30. sue harki says:

is there a smart source or redplum in this Sundays paper?

  31. Madonna says:

Sorry but this doesnt add up. I see what you are trying to do = but it is incorrect!

If you pay $2 and get $2 in bucks back – it doesnt cancel out and make it $0 or free!

It means that you got $4 worth of product for $2. You paid the $2 – you never get it back!

So, if you add up all of the amounts paid – it DOES NOT equal $3.04 paid for about $25.00 worth of product. It equals $7.04 – the ther $4.00 cannot cancel out what we paid out of pocket! It is easy to figure out when you go to the store and bring a $10 bill – you only have $2 and change in your hand – soooooo this explanation is deceiving. More accurately, you should say “you pay out of pocket:$7.04 and leave with $4 credit”

Also, When you say “It’s like getting it for free” it is soooo not true. You should say – “you pay $XX and get $XX”

    • adm388 says:

Those ‘credit’s can be rolled each week, so you really are getting everything for free. If you save your extra bucks (or register rewards) and plan your weekly trips around the deals, then you’ll be paying very little or nothing out of pocket. Do some research on couponing and you’ll understand it better.

    • Janelle says:

It is free after the first ecb transaction. I save mine week after week and I have enough each week to not have to spend cash.

  32. Lesley H. says:

Went to CVS and scanned my card for coupons. I got a coupon for a free Air Delight bar! Expires 7/4! Go check to see if you get one, too!

I also got 50cents off a Big Chill bottle of water (I think that is what it was called), which was $1.49 at my CVS (central Jersey). $2 off skittles, starburst, or lifesavers 14oz or larger. And 50cents off dove candy bar 3oz or more. The last 3 coupons expire 7/10

  35. can you get multiple ECBs on one purchase or do u have to seperate the purchase. basically, how many ECBS will print before it stops. i know rite aid has a limit, didnt know if CVS did as well

    • SarahR says:

CVS limits are tracked by Extra Care card. The limits vary, most offers are limited to one or two per card. You can purchase several different offers in one transaction and up to your limit on a particular offer in a single transaction. To keep OOP low most people do small transactions and then use those ECBs for the next transaction. Also, some people have two different cards, one for self and one for spouse. Since the limits are per card, they can get double the offers.
      HTH and Good luck!

I’m kinda new….question…I bought the Pantene deal last week, got $2 ECB. Can I use that ECB to buy 2 other Pantene and will it spit out another $2 ECB (I got a raincheck which in my understanding the raincheck will honor the price and the ECB from last week)?

So in other words can I use the ECB I got from Pantene to get another ECB from Pantene—from the same CVS card? Because I see that it says limit 1 per household?

        Thanks for the help

there isn’t a limit on how many ecbs will print…as long as they are diff deals. for example if you buy 3 things that are diff and all have ecbs attached to them, all 3 will print under one transaction receipt. hope thats clear.

still learning this wonderful craft – just printed this so I can follow every step – but every time I go to CVS, they are either out of the product i want, or none of the sales ring up properly. Hi ladies! I’m only fifteen and i have started couponing as a hobbie and I was wondering if at cvs, they have B1G1 50% off pantene shampoo or conditioner, I could use a $1/2 and a $3/2 for just the two items.

    • Tara says:

No, when the coupon is $1/2, $3/2 or any other variation like that then it attaches to both items. Since you can only use one manufacturer’s coupon per item, it would not work. It would be nice thought! :)

I think the Coke and Ritz is for a Coke 1.25 liter and the CVS sale is for the 2 liter. I almost used it for Publix coke B2G1 last week along with Ritz B1G1, but it wouldn’t have worked because the Publix sale was for the 2 liter Cokes.

Oh yeah , you are right , about the ritz and coke 1.25, even better , I was tired going through all the deals last night.

I’m kinda comfused on the coke why is it going to be 2.07 for 5?? shouldn’t it be 3.45 for all 5?? Just wondering.

  49. Wouldn’t it work out cheaper to use a B1G1 coupon (P&G 6/5) for the 2 Oral-B Crossaction Toothbrushes and 1 of the $2 coupons? I don’t always shop at CVS so not sure if that will be allowed but if it is the total should come to $1.00 and get the $2 ECB.

    • Alyssa says:

i was thinking the same thing. i was going to use 1 $2 coupon and 1 BOGO coupon. get 3 toothbrushes for $2 after EB

      • I’m actually gonna try it on 2 toothbrushes and see if that will bring the OOP down to just $1 making this a $1 money maker with the $2 ECB since there is a limit of 2.

        • Zoismommy says:

i don’t know I was actually going to try the same thing. The B1G1 I have is for crossaction manual toothbrushes. I say try it, the least they could say is no.

          • Upon viewing a copy of the ad online the toothbrush in the ad looks manual to me, I don’t see anything about it that looks like it would be the battery powered on, so both q’s should work. I’ll try to post after I shop to report if it worked or not.

    • Jenmpfg says:

Those are for different toothbrushes. B1G1 is for cross action manual. the 2.00 off is for pulsar manual toothbrushes, unless u have different Qs than I do.

    • Mobile35 says:

I used them both and it worked for me

    • I did this deal earlier and was able to use both coupons (1 B1G1 and 1 $2/1) and had no problems. Hope everyone else has as good of luck.

      Have a Happy 4th!

The only thing they would say is no because a lot of P&G coupons are saying ‘Can only use one coupon per transaction and 4 like coupons per transaction’ But nine times out of ten the cashier is so overwhelmed but the multiple transactions they don’t even look at the coupons and just scan them to get you moving along. Good luck!

Actually it says one coupon per purchase which is NOT the same thing as a transaction. I ran into this problem today. The cashier would NOT accept more than 1 P&G coupon because it says one coupon per purchase. His supervisor (because they were buddies) just said the same and didnt even bother to look at the coupon.

I used the b1g1 coupon with the $2 coupon for 2 toothbrushes. You just need to make sure you give the b1g1 first. If you give the $2 coupon first the register will beep with the b1g1.

(I haven’t been on KCL for a few days so please forgive me if this is already common knowledge.) CVS used my registered email to send an invitation for online CVS Extracare Rewards which included a FREE $3.50 extrabucks. Then, I completed a fairly simple survey to received a $5 extrabucks. Check your emails.
