Here are the best back to school deals at Staples this week; these prices are valid 7/10 – 7/16.

Staples has a Reward Program that gives you money back on the items most people use frequently.  Staples rewards you 10% of your purchase on ink, toner, paper and copy and print items.  You can earn an unlimited 10% back on qualifying purchases when you earn at least $10 in rewards for a calendar quarter.  Every month the rewards are issued when the value of the rewards has reached at least $10.  They roll month to month if the balance has not reached $10, but they expire if that amount has not been reached in a quarter.  These can be redeemed through their online store, phone orders and any Staples store.

They are also offering a “Back to School Pass” for the season.  You can buy a pass for $10 and receive 15% off on school items including backpacks, binders, writing material and ream paper.  This cannot be combined with other coupons.

If you are teacher your limit is 20! on all of the sale items with ID. Your teacher reward card also constitutes ID.

I just went to staples tonight and am so excited! I got each of the 1 cent deals (up to 25 since I am a teacher). I also scored some of the other deals which they only let me buy two of each. However, the cashier said the limit was per day but seemed unsure. Worth a shot for people who need more than the limits : )

  6. Livn4hersavior says:

How many of each paper rebates can I do??

  7. Winnie says:

Can you do separate transactions that are over $5 so you can get more than 2 of each item?

So, this may seem like a dumb question, but do you have to have $5 worth of product for each penny item or can you buy 2-3 after the $5 threshold has been met? Also, is there a threshold requirement for the quarter or dollar deals? Just wondering…

    • Anonymous says:

you have to have $5.00 worth of other items before you can get the “extreme deals” which are the penny items. Once you read the $5.00 you can get the penny items up to their limit of 2. You would have to do another $5.00 transaction to get more penny items.

I asked one of the cashiers at Staples today if I could buy 5 of the Scotch magic tapes that are on sale for $1, use 5 $1 off Scotch magic tape coupons & still get the penny & quarter deals & he said absolutely because the computer would see that i had reached $5 & automatically give me the “extreme deals”. So I bought 8 of the tapes, 2 packs of the BIC pencils at $.25 each & 2 packs of the BIC pens at $.01 each & paid $1.12 with tax. Then I did a 2nd transaction which included items like liquid hand soap, hand sanitizer, can of 40 furniture polish wipes all on clearance rack for $.70 plus a few $1 items to qualify for more of the penny & quarter items. They had some good things on the clearance racks at the Manahawkin, NJ store

where are the scotch magic tape q’s?

    • Mamas says:

I went to staples today and tried the coupon for the tape and they wouldn’t let me use it. Said it had to be the exact one on the picture, not the one with the color on the outside said it has a different sku .. So I didn’t buy them I remembered someone on here said target let them use it or walmart anyone else have problems?

      • The Scotch tape Q is for a specific one, even though the coupon states any magic tape. Check out the first 5 numbers on the barcode on the Q and the product. It is the more classic looking tape, not the ones with the new, cool dispenser.

Staples in FL allows teachers (with ID) to purchase 25 of the 1 cent specials. You do have to meet their pre-purchase criteria of $5.00. Now that’s a deal!

Duuuuuude! I just killed it at Staples! I’m loving these deals! I even called my mom to tell her about the paper rebate since she’s a court reporter and uses paper like it’s going out of style. Thank you thank you thank you KCLs! I wouldn’t be able to do this without y’all!

Just to let everyone know I work for Staples in Michigan, it’s $15 for the Back to School Pass here. But still a great day! Because you can use it once a day everyday through mid Sept. It includes your graphing calculators as well!

  18. Sternrulz6 says:

There is a limit of 25 o ly on the penny stiff any thing else it a limit of 2? U need to show proof that u are a teacher somehow.

    • Ms Stephferrante says:

Everything with limits for Back to School is 25 for teachers. Not just penny stuff. (unless it has a rebate you have to follow those guidelines, but you can use the rebate paper towards your $5 purchase) If you home school you should have something from the government saying you are certified. Teachers just bring your teacher ID or pay stub.

I was told by the manager at two different stores that the 25 limit is only on 1cent items. They would not let me get more than 2 of the 25cent items or the $1.00 for 2 pairs of scissors, which is what I really needed more of.

        • Tara says:

I was able to get more of the folders which were 25 cent items. So did another teacher in the store. They were complaining of an error message that they didn’t recognize on their register. Perhaps the Staples employees at my store didn’t realize that about the limit & that was the reason for the error message.

Walmart says they will price match competitors, it is worth a try!

      • Cydney says:

Doesnt it have to be on the same product? All of these deals are the staples brand and walmart doesn’t carry those.

        • Lahainaluvr says:

walmart will only price match the non staples products like the Bic pens, Bic pencils, Sharpie markers & Post-it notes but these are all great prices. I’m w/you that Staples is too far from me to spend the gas =(

    • Adhis says:

They usually will if you have the flyer and it’s a competitor nearby. If I were a store manager, I would not pricematch with a store who is obviously so far away as to not really be a competitor.

Call your Walmart beforehand and ask their manager.

Just got back from staples and got my goodies they were not easy to find, they were kinda hidden throughout the store, but the staff was there to help. The only thing they seemed to be low on was the stickes for .25. If you print some of the scotch tape coupons they have the tape for a buck so you can get it for free while you are there.

How often can you do the paper rebates? I just did one a few months ago when this was going on and I just bought 2 more papers today. Can I submit another set of rebates? On the receipt it just says 2/name/household. Hopefully it is per offer as well!

  23. Susie says:

Please consider donating any extras you may grab. Teachers like me spend easily 1500 dollars a year out of pocket.

  24. Jonathan says:

    Attention teachers:
At my Staples in New Carrollton, MD, the limit is 25 for teachers, not 2! There is a $5 minimum purchase of other items, but the rebated paper counted for that.

    • jessica says:

what if you homeschool??? do you need some sort of Identification??

      • Tara says:

        Jessica,
Talk to them up front. I was able to receive the higher limits as a teacher (I homeschool too through a charter school program). The cashier says they don’t require ID but take people’s word for it. I just took what I truly needed for my classroom of two and my Sunday School class I did use the limit increase for 12 folders for the girls. I didn’t want to go crazy since if people like me take more than they need then they probably won’t be so lienient in the future about teacher proof. I hadn’t seen Susie’s comment though, perhaps I should have grabbed a few more of the extras and donated to my local schools. What a great idea.
