Newbie’s First Score

Posted in: - Select a Store, The Brag Lounge  //  Comments (1)

deal
I just started couponing in mid August 2011 and this was only my 3rd try. My first try was a total failure, I spent WAY too much money. The second time was a little better but this was my first time walking out of the store and paying less than a dollar, what a rush. I know these scenarios aren’t as good as other ones that I read on here but I think I did a good job considering my newbie status. What do you think?
I started my trip at Rite Aid where I bought two boxes of the 50ct Azo which were originally $10.49 each but with the B1G1Free promotion and a $10 +UP I walked out paying .49 total.
I then proceeded right next door to CVS were I made two transactions. The first included: a double pack of 12 oz. ReNu contact solution originally priced at $6.99 but I had a $2.00 off MQ and I received $7 back in ECB making the item virtually free. I had a $3 off 2 Vick’s products coupon which I used to buy one bottle of DayQuill and one NyQuill the store was also running a promotion of 2 for $10 plus $3 in ECB basically making them $1.49 . Then to pay for my order I used $10 of ECB from a previous visit making my OOP total $4.48 + $10 in ECB. For my second transaction I used the $3 EBC I earned from the Vick’s products and bought two Arm & Hammer toothpastes originally $4.59 with a coupon that was $1.50 off 2 bringing the total down to $3.09 and like I said I used the $3 ECB making my total .41
The last store I went to was Walgreens where I bought one Old Spice body wash (orig. $4.99), one Old Spice Deodorant (orig. $5.79), one Gillette body wash (orig. $4.99), and one Gillette Deodorant. For both brands the store was running a B1G1 50%off deal. For the Old Spice I had a buy one body wash get a deodorant free coupon as well as a $3 RR bringing the total down to .29 and for the Gillet I used a different buy one body wash get a deodorant free coupon in combination with a $1 off coupon making them $2.29 my total OOP price was $3.74.
After three stores I wound up spending $9.12 OOP plus $7 in ECB which I kinda look at as spending $2.12. I saved a total of $69.54. Not bad for a newbie?!?!

Free Cookie at The Great American Cookie Company on October 1st!

Posted in: Dining, Freebies  //  Comments Off

I love cookies!  I could eat a chocolate chip cookie every day.  The problem is, if I make a batch, I can’t eat just one.  It’s more like six or seven!  Since I don’t have much willpower, I just buy one at a good cookie place every once in a while.  Tomorrow (10/1), we can get one for free at  The Great American Cookie Company as they  kick off their Reading is Sweet Book Drive!  The cookies are available from 10:00-2:00 at participating locations – go ahead, get a sweet treat for yourself!  And you can get more cookies throughout the month of October every time you donate a new or gently used book!

Thanks, The Freebie Blogger

Vlasic Pickles Only $1.74 at Kroger!

Posted in: Kroger  //  Comments (2)

My husband won’t eat a sandwich or a hamburger without a pickle.  I, on the other hand, am not a fan of pickles, so I always forget to stock up on them.  This new coupon on Vlasic pickles will let me stock up on some at Kroger’s.  They are normally $3.55 but will only cost $1.74 with our scenario.   A good stock of pickles, especially dill pickles, equals a happy husband in my house! :)

Vlasic Pickles, 24 oz $2.55, On Sale through 10/8
Use $0.75/1 Vlasic Pickles from SS 9/11
Final Price: $1.74

Thanks, Saving Every Day

Free Cat Treats

Posted in: Target, The Brag Lounge  //  Comments Off

I just wanted to mention FREE item I got at Target that I didn’t see mentioned yet.

Purina Whisker Lickin’s cat treats have a price cut to 0.99 from 1.07 till 10/22

$1/1 coupon from Target.com

I also picked up the free colgate toothpaste and batteries as well as the cheap clorox stain wash and visine. I had to buy litter, and while it was not free, at least I had a $2/1 Target.com coupon which made the 20lb jug of tidy cats scoop only $5 or .25/lb.

Total $6, Retail >$16
