ok newbie here! will this work? having target price match walmarts ad for this product at $3.97 (starting oct.2) and use the $4 coupon and still recieve the $5 target gift card?!!!!

It’s possible. However, the Target deal also requires the purchase of a refill, even though the signage doesn’t indicate that. Also, I was told that if the items you’re buying are less than the amount of the gift card, the register won’t trigger the cashier to give you the gift card. With the refill, it may work out okay, but YM will definitely vary :)

My Target had the $5 GC sign on everything. I got one kit $9.99, used the $4 coupon and get a $5 GC, then the refill was $3.99, used the $1.00 coupon and got another $5 GC. I came out $1.02 ahead!!

But then get this…last night my friend and I went to the Target by our kids Jiu Jitsu school. I had to show her this great deal and I had extra coupons I could give her.
And this time I also had my BOGO coupon!

The signs were all the same – “Buy this item, get a $5.00 gift card”. It did not say anything about have to purchase any items together. The register, of course, only triggered the gift card after it rang up the second item and I nicely explained that wasn’t how the shelf tags read. The Team Leader went and pulled the tags off the shelf and said they had been printed wrong. ok – and…… She said she could not force the additional gift cards. I even pulled out my receipt for that morning showing the additional gift cards.

Three-more-employees-and a manager-involved later she said she could give me one gift card and reduce the balance by the other $10.00, but that I could not use my coupons. I didn’t see any reason why I couldn’t and she said it was their store policy. I said “Your corporate policy?” and she said no, their STORE policy. I didn’t know that a Target could override their corporate policy? hmmm… anyway, she tried and tried and couldn’t make it work. I offered to just let it go and I would go back to my normal Target. It was funny – she didn’t want to do it the way I thought she should, but she was determined to make it work! In the end somehow she ended up giving my one 5
$5 gift card, taking $5 off and letting me use my $4.00 coupon, my $1.00 coupon and BOGO. I used my $5 gift card from earlier that day, paid $.60 and walked away with another $5 gift card. She honored the deal for my friend too, who made $.62 on the whole thing :)

WOW! After all that I sure hope this stuff works!

Okay everyone I have to tell you about my find. So everyone kept talking about the free refill on the inside so I decided to use it at checkout. I first wanted to make sure that I would get the $5 Gift Card because I didn’t see a sign advertising it so when I got to the register I gave the lady the Kit first then the Refill. So then it popped up for the $5 Gift Card. Then I gave her the coupon out of the box for he BOGO. Then used the $4 off coupon from 9/11 SS. I also got four of the Clorox 4 and 4 Bumble Bee Tuna. My total came to 6.27 and I still go the $5 Gift Card. I was wondering how could this be. So when I got to the car I saw that when I used the BOGO it took $8.98 off of my total instead of $3.99 and it also took off 4.00 for the refill. I couldn’t believe it so I went back in and did the Kit and the Refill again. I used the coupon out the box only because it would not let me use the $4 or the $1 off coupon. My total came to 5.63 and also got back the $5 Gift Card. I was excited. Now I have one for each bathroom.

Mine did the same thing but it took off 9.99 instead of 3.99 and when I told the girl what it did she looked at like I was stupid.

      • Anonymous says:

The first time I did it, it took off 9.99, I guess because I had other stuff but when I just got it by itself it only did 8.98.

i got this deal today! im so excited and there was no signage anywhere i just ook a chance on it and i got the giftcard! i also got the clorox 2 spray for .25 a bottle!!

Target is sneaky that way ;) They like to take their signs down before the promo is over. But the deals still work!

I read on a different site that you only have to buy the system and not the refill to get the $5, however at my Target, there was no promotion. Does anyone know if this deal exists in Los Angeles?

    • Anonymous says:

It’s pretty evident, from the stories I’m reading everywhere, that there was an error in the signage. And that a lot of stores are just taking the signs down. And, Target often takes down signage before promo end dates. That’s why we jot them all down before they can! :)

      • Anonymous says:

Too bad I missed that one. Thanks for the response :)

My store didn’t even have a sign and when I scanned it at the price check it didn’t show. But when I took it to the register it showed.

  10. Jennifer Jolley says:

When I went to my store yesterday, both the refills and the kit had listed a $5GC wyb this product. Yes on the refills the sign said $3.99, Free $5GC WYB THIS PRODUCT and this product only. I thought hmm that doesn’t seem right but I read the sign a million times and the sign was clear so I grabbed 6 (along with my 3 BOGO q’s). Of course the GC didn’t prompt so the manager went back and double checked and the UPC’s matched so they honored the deal then took the sign down saying it was a mistake (which I figured it was). So I bought 6 for $12 and got $30 in GC…The cashier seemed bothered about it since it was a mistake but was it wrong of me to cash in on this?? Honestly, I had 8 bogo q’s and only used 3. What would you have done?

    • That’s what stores use their marketing budget for. They make mistakes and sometimes they have to pay for it. It’s not up to you to take a hit because they made a typo. They certainly don’t track then refund when they charge you too much. They put the money in the bank and hopefully fix the system. And if the cashier has a problem, that’s for them to deal with. They should always be glad that you are shopping there.

I was able to get the deal by just buying the kit on Sunday night (got 4), but Monday at the same store, I had to purchase the refill along with the kit to get the gift card. There is a 1.00 off refill (target coupon) that print out at register and in the box was a coupon for buy one refill get one free! I had a refill manufacture coupon ($1.00 off) they would not let me stack with the Target coupon plus use the buy one get one free (for the refill). But, It was still a great deal!

  12. U-Scan machines??? Are these the price checkers?? sorry want to make sure, and do they advise that there is a $5 gift card offer…. thanks

  13. Jody Hardy says:

Meijer has the refill on sale for $2.99 and it comes with a free holder. The $4.00 coupon works on it too!!

  14. Anonymous says:

If I purchase 3 of them in one transaction would I receive 3 gift cards or would it be better if I do seperate transactions?

  15. At my target you only had to buy the cleaner for $9.99 and receive the $5 gift card.

Were you able to get that deal yourself? There were many people reporting that this was what the signage indicated, but that when checking out it didn’t work and with further clarification, discovered that they needed the refill too :(

      • Anonymous says:

This happened to me tonight. The manager said that the signage was wrong but said that he would give me $5 since he couldn’t make the gift card come up. I’m glad they honored it but he did say he was taking the sign down so no go for the next shopper.

If you open the box there are 2 coupons for 3.00 off the same product and a card for buy 1 get 1 free for the refill! I got these a few weeks ago. Each of the boxes had these coupons inside.

    • I bought one a week or so ago and used the BOGO coupon, so I got the system and 2 refills instead of just one for the same price. If someone is going to roll the giftcards I would suggest opening the boxes up AFTER you buy them and using the BOGO for your next transaction.

I got these, too, when Wags had the deal on them a few weeks back. Target’s policy says “A second cents-off coupon of the same type cannot be redeemed towards the purchase price of the first item.” Does that mean that if I use the BOGO coupon, I can’t use the $1/1 refill? It’s the “of the same type” language that confuses me, because they are different coupons.
