I had an issue today. The cashier was told by the supervisor that they can no longer adjust the coupons down. So they can’t take them. I made her get the manager. After waiting for 5 mins she said to take them. I’ve been doing this for years now. I just dont understand how one store can make up there own rules. Target is a large company they should have the same policies across the board. I never have issues at CVS or Walgreens! That is probably why they see me twice a week! lol They are always nice and know my name. Maybe if Target and Walmart wouldn’t give me such a hard time I would do more business with them.

  3. You’re not alone! Me too, I’m having a hard time. Been at Target last night and I failed to get that free stuff ( Gold Bond and Degree Deodorant). The mean Mexican saleslady suddenly came to the counter and interrupt the Cashier (nice) lady and insist that I can’t use that coupons for the travel size. She said, I must use it for the regular size. So, I explained it to her, still she don’t want me to use those coupons. Until she decided to call their Manager. 5-7 mins passed, still no Manager shows up. Right there and  then I told her take that out those stuff on my basket bag, If you don’t want me to get that stuff—–FINE! Coz I don’t wanna waste my time here! ” And to tell you this is not my first time of using coupons and I know what does it meant and says in every coupons to another coupons. (with pointing my copy of their Store policy). And you know what, I was doing these before– the same scenario but I have no problem with it, and also to the Saleslady/ Cashier Lady! Until you shows up.

Yeah, I gave up because arguing to that Sales Lady is not worth it! :) If they don’t want me to have it, don’t care! :)

Just tried to do this deal at target. I had two coupons and they told me I can only do one coupon per transaction because it says one coupon per purchase. I told them they should read their coupon policy got frustrated and left because there was a line.

  5.  The Manufacturer can’t possibly picture every product they make on a coupon. They can suggest a certain product… for us to try but As long as there are no restrictions stated on the coupons then Target should of taken them. These managers and cashiers need to be more educated in their own coupon policy and it’s up to us to educate them! I had an experience with $1/1 reach floss for a product that was .97. Cashier/manager wouldn’t take it (didn’t’t have any other items in my basket) and didn’t have time to educate them . I did call corporate and they said it should of been adjusted down since they don’t give overage. Went back a few days and tried the transaction again and had no problems. It just depends on cashier/manager on duty. Wish they would all be trained to know how to handle coupons. Most of the employees are really good but their are a few that don’t seem to get it.

The site is all out of prints meaning the coupon is no longer available. Maybe next time. :(

I usually have problems at my local target also but I refuse to leave the checkout lane since I know the policy.Yestereday, the manager told me that I could only use one degree coupon per transaction “per the coupon” so I only purchaced 2 deoderants at a time. I left with 8 deoderants and 6 coppertone sunscreens. He also read each coupon with a fine tooth comb.

When I try to print these, it says I have already printed them
    Can anyone help?

Hmmmm, it says I have already printed it….maybe it hasn’t been reset from a few months ago?

Just left Target…soooooo flustered! They told me that Target is not in the business of giving away free stuff and that this coupon was not intended for the trial/travel size. I explained that there was no restrictions and asked for a manager. I argued it out with him and he agreed to let me use my Gold Bond coupon on the trail size and my Degree coupon on the trial size but kept repeating “this time only.” When they got to the sunscreen, I thought they were gonna throw me outta the store. The cashier and manager told me that from now on, I must use Target coupons for the product pictured ONLY. And of course, they treated me like this in front of a line of other customers. I left feeling beat up and defeated….maybe this couponing thing isn’t for me…??? :(

First off I’d go back and explain to whoever you spoke to that Target is not giving the product away for free. They’re going to get $1.08 from the manufacturer when they turn in the coupon, so in effect the manufacturer is giving it away for free, which they are perfectly entitled to do. Go to the Target website and printing their coupon policy and take it with you when you go back to the store. Don’t give up on saving money. There are a lot of stupid cashiers (and managers) out in the world and it’s our obligation to educate them.

    • Anonymous says:

Don’t give up, you are doing nothing wrong. Report that incident to their corporate office.

      • Janelle King says:

Ya know the more I think about it, I think I will, Granny. If Target really is “tightening up their policies” perhaps other people are running into the same issues. If enough of us complain, maybe they’ll educate their staff a little better…??? Thanks for the tip!

I had the same thing happen at two different Targets today.  I spoke with managers at both stores and they said the same thing to me.  They also told me that they are tightening up on their policies.  I also stated that they were going to get $1.08 back for the coupon.  They said they realized but they were not in the business of giving stuff away for free.  By the way, my coupons scanned at a dollar perfectly.  That is probably because my total purchase was for $25.00.

I am not sure what state you are in but this happened to me in Colorado.  I am getting very frustrated with Target and am only going to be doing limited shopping at this store.  It will have to be a very good deal with coupons that exactly match the product.  I have been couponing for two years and shopped at Target frequently.  This has just started happening to me in the last month at Target.

      • Janelle King says:

Hi Ifdenver! I’m in Michigan and the manager at the Madison Heights Target & Royal Oak CVS both told me that their tightening up their policies (b/c they’re supposedly losing money). I get that more people are likely couponing than ever before but when I use a $1.00 off coupon on a $0.97 product (so they adjust it down), it’s my understanding that they’re likely still getting their $1.08 back from the manufacturer so wouldn’t they be MAKING money??? Besides, we didn’t issue the darn coupons – we’re simply wise enough to find the deals and make use of them.

I too will be avoiding both stores I mentioned above. It’s unfortunate but I refuse to be made to feel like I’m stealing or ripping them off….especially when it’s all over a $0.97 product.

        Best of luck to you!

          Hi Janelle:

I totally agree with you.  I am tired of be made to feel like I am stealing.  You are right that they do get a $1.08 in return.  I also mentioned this to the manager and she verified that this was the case.  However, she stated that they were not going to give money back to me.  In reality they were not because my sale was over $25.00.  Let me know if you contact the corporate office and what they tell you.  I think I will too.

I don’t have CVS here only Walgreens.  I know a lot of people have problems at Walgreens but I have had pretty good luck.  I have four different ones where I shop.  I have gotten to know some of the employees and managers so that has definitely helped my shopping experience.  It is the most difficult system to figure out but once you do I saved a bunch of money.

Try not to let it discourage you.  There are still plenty of good places to shop at that take coupons with a smile.  It is a shame what has happened at Target because I have always liked this store.

don’t get down, maybe try to look for some friendly looking cashiers. I often scope for the nicer looking cashiers. I will even wait in a long line, sometimes its the cashiers that make the difference. IF they are nice, they will help you. I always keep my cool and if they don’t accept it, they lost my business for the moment. Keep on trying for another day or another Target. Don’t get discouraged about couponing. I know this may not always work, but its worth a try, don’t give up.

    • Sorry some people are just not coupon friendly or knowledgable! i like to teach the unfriendly cashiers a few things about coupons while im waiting. It is wrong for the cashiers to think you are getting product for free. You are just simply using coupons to buy the poduct. Target will get the money! & going off the pictures is not accurate eithor. Hope you know all your fellow couponers feel the same way! All we can do is keep saving (w/ coupons)!!!(:

    • Oh gosh, I feel you. Sometimes were so pissed off with those people who treated us like that but don’t let them or give them a chance to treat you like that. Stand for your rights, if ever they were so mean to you… fight back! because they deserve it to be treated like that too! :)

  11. Not having a problem at Target but having extremely hard time with Walmart….

    • Anonymous says:

I always use the self-checkout at Walmart and the cashier always has to come over to put my coupons through – they never even check to see if I’ve bought everything (I do!) and I’ve never had a problem using the coupons!

  12. Zowahh Arg says:

I’ve tried getting trial size things at Target but it says that the coupon value cannot exceed the purchase value so the cashiers refuse to ring it up.  How do you get pass this?

    • Zo- Print off target coupon policies from their website, it states that if the value of the coupon exceeds the price of the item, it may be reduced. Show them their own policies next time they refuse to take your coupon

    • Amy Sturgill says:

When I was in target the other day that happened to me, but the cashier just put the item in for the  0.97. I didn’t get the .03 but I still got my item for free so I was happy with that

      •  Last week, I got the Kikkoman marinade at Target for free with a coupon, plus a 26-cent profit on each bottle.  I was really surprised when the overage was applied to the rest of my order – so cool!  I thought the cashier would adjust the coupon down, resulting in no overage.  Maybe she did something wrong or maybe this is par for the course.  Has anyone else had Target apply overage to the rest of your purchases?

    • Anonymous says:

I just bought this about an hour ago and the coupon went right through with no beeping!

    • Anonymous says:

Just tell them to adjust the coupon down, if they don’t understand, some don’t , ask for a manager. Hope that helps!

    • Anonymous says:

Cashiers should be able to adjust the value of the coupon down to meet the price of your item.

  13. Does anyone know if this is safe to use on infants? I am putting together a baby shower gift basket and was wondering if these would be ok for baby.
