Let’s Shop: Week of 5/27 Results

I took it easy on couponing due to the holiday yesterday and just picked up a few items.  I wanted to try the Scrubbing Bubbles with Color Power Technology at Target and I picked up some extra sunblock since we already used two this weekend!  I also wanted to get some of the Tecnu First Aid Gel for my camping trips so grabbed a few items at Walgreens.  Who can resist free chocolate?  A stop at CVS was a must for the free Milky Ways, and I grabbed a free box of Depends for the local Senior Resource Center too.

What did you do?  Coupon as usual or take it easy?  Either way, I hope you have a great week!

Has anyone else had issues when purchasing deals that include a Target gift card + using coupons?  I have been very confused about this for a while. I have had 3 separate shopping trips where it looks like the coupons were not subtracted from the total. It’s like the coupon is printed on the receipt but is not subtracted from the price. I have gone to customer service twice before and they have given me a refund for the coupon price, but I don’t want to do this every time. Could some please shed some light or give me some feedback??

    For example from receipt 05/24/12:

    BANANA BOAT           $6.49
    MFR COUPON            $1.00-
    HAWAIIAN TRO          $7.99
    MFR COUPON            $1.00-
    GIFT CARDS               $5.00

    PACKAGE SUBTOTAL $19.48
    TARGET COUPON       $1.00-
    GIFTCARD FREE         $5.00-
    ———————————————-
    PACKAGE TOTAL        $13.48

The actual package total should be $11.48, right?

    • You are right…thats the only store i dont shop at…not one close by but keep hearing stuff like you posted…would love to hear feed-back!!!!

The manufacturers coupons will show at the bottom of your receipt and not attach to the item in the package total.

When the register calculates the “package total”, it’s just minus the target coupons. I think it’s cuz when you return the package total, that’s what it’s worth since even though you used mq’s if you were to return both products that’s how much they’d give you plus the tax,

If it helps you figure it out this way, add and subtract everything up and you’ll see that the math is right with what you’re paying at the end of the receipt(in this case it’d be 11.48 plus the tax.

I agree. I was totally confused once on a similar transaction at Target, but then looked at the bottom and saw the other Q’s. Added everything up and it was correct. Vons also puts some coupons with the item, and others at the bottom. They are getting more difficult to read sometimes.

    • sully says:

the target coupons appear after the items but the manufacturer coupons appear all the way down. hope this helps

    • sully says:

total would have being 12.48 Plus tax and you should have received a 5 target gift card.

    • sully says:

target is a bit complicated. i notice that you pay taxes on total after the target coupons have being substracted, if they are manufacturer coupons though you pay taxes on the total before the manufacturer coupons are substrated

Have you ever considered using the words “Like Paying” instead of “PAID” at the end of Walgreens and CVS transactions.  I referred a friend you your blog and she was confused about this wording.  I think it might read easier for people new to couponing.  Just a suggestion.  Keep up the good work and as always, love your blog!  =)

That’s why anyone new should read the beginners section first that explains all the wording.

At Walgreens can you not use two $1/2 or use one $1/2 and one $0.55/1?

Bought 2 Vanity Fair Napkins, 100 ct., $2.99Buy One Get One FreeUse $1.00/2 Vanity Fair Napkins from RP 5/20Paid: $1.99 for 2

    • sully says:

no cuase the 1/2 is for two packages if you want to use both together (1/2 & .55/1) you need to buy 3.

The $1.00/2 is tied to both pkgs. so only one coupon.

hey kcl, when i view your blog page, and want to go to entries from earlier in the day, i click on “page 2″, but it brings me to older entries from yesterday and skips over the more recent ones from earlier today that i am looking for.  can you please help? thank you!!!

      • Anonymous says:

Okay gotcha, thanks! I’m new to this and wondered if I could use 2 of the $/2.  So whoever shopped here should have done two $0.55/1 like was posted in a different blog post, I’ll do that.

Oh I see in your BOGO section it is 2 $/1…I was thinking 2 $/2. Thanks!
