I’ve never bought a pregnancy test before, so hopefully this isn’t a silly question.  If I stockpile them for when my hubby and I are ready to start trying, will they expire?

Yes they do expire.  They can have a several year life span, however.  If you are going to start trying then I would suggest ebay – you can buy HCG sticks along with ovulation predictors for really cheap.  I think I bought 40 ovulation predictors and 10 HCG sticks for something like $10 or less.  They don’t have fancy plastic cases – just a strip- but they work well and can save you bundles of money!  People I know who used them would wait to be pregnant and then use one of the fancy sticks that you buy at the pharmacy for 10-20 bucks that say “pregnant” so they could take a picture of that and share their news.

You can get 25 pregnancy test strips right now on Amazon for .33 each ($8.15). I’ve even seen that price go lower…when I bought them they were about .25 cents a test (~$6). I bought them in February 2012 and the ones I got say they expire Nov. 2013.

You can also find tests at the Dollar store, they have worked just fine for me! And I’ve also bought some from amazon, they were even cheaper, if you use a lot (the price varies a lot though)  and they are just simple strips that detect HCG, no plastic holder (less waste in my opinion) they work fine and save money.
