Learn to Shop for Free with Coupons

It is simply amazing how many absolutely free things you can get every week! To keep you up to date with all the free deals, each week we publish a post outlining the freebies and moneymakers. Of course, free deals are extremely popular so you may run into times that the shelves are empty. Don’t forget to get a rain check when that happens. I love rain checks because then I never have to miss out on a free deal! Also, ask your store when they restock, and plan to shop that day if you miss the deals earlier in the week!

These deals are valid Sunday 6/10– Saturday 6/16. Check back through the week as we update this post!

  1. Target has changed the wording on the Kotex coupon

“$2.00 off when you buy any TWO packages of U by KOTEX® products (Not good on Liners 14-22 ct.) Not Good on Trial Size”.
    so now we can’t get 18ct. >:(

****all of the kotex coupons have changed their wording. bummer!

They usually do when there’s a deal for freebies… :(  Like with the FoodSaver…  Boooooo…

Don’t forget you can also get the Cutter candles for free and a 3 cents overage…  They are $0.97 and the Cutter MQ is for $1 off…  I just came from Walmart and got the candles and the Black Flag Fly Paper but it was THE LONGEST transaction in my WHOLE couponing life!  The cashier said I can’t use all those coupons cause the coupon says “one per purchase”  (typical, huh?).  I told her that purchase is like saying item, that purchase is NOT transaction.  She was rude and said I was wrong but if I wanted she could call a manager.  I said, please.  She did and she explained to him that I wanted to use all those Qs and that I couldn’t.  He said:  “You cannot double your coupons”.  I said:  “I’m not trying to double any coupons.  I’m just trying to purchase these products and I have one Q per item but she says I can’t use them because it says one per purchase and I’m explaining to her that transaction is not the same as purchase”.  He basically said I was wrong.  A customer behind me said I wasn’t.  The manager closed the transaction and brought me to customer service.  He asked an associate there and she said what I had said.  Finally I paid and was about to leave and one coupon had not been scanned.  They had to go and open that cashier twice and voided my transaction and did it all over again from scratch.  I hope I don’t get charged twice because they didn’t give me the receipt or voided receipt for the first transaction… (I bought other 3 things and used the overage from the freebies towards them but I still had to pay something) :-/

Good Job!! That’s still a very good deal! Especially with summer here and I love how you stood your ground and still pulled through with the trans. ;)

      • Anonymous says:

Thanks Mary!  I even told the manager that he needs to inform his cashiers the difference in coupon terminology to avoid situations like this one, which at the end, doesn’t let him focus on other tasks that he needs to get done.  Thing is that I’ve noticed that not all cashiers (at every single store where I coupon-Target, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Super 1 Foods, etc) really know their own store coupon policy or how to handle coupons.  They need better training.  And I imagine that some people that encounter these kind of situations, who just started couponing, might get discouraged and stop doing it because you really need to be patient due to the time it can take you to solve these misunderstandings and these people can get very rude… Happy couponing everyone!!!! :D

        • Danielle Harris says:

Good Job Ladies!!  I have also notice that no one knows the coupon policy here at my local Walmart stores either.  I have to print out the coupon policy from their website and take it with me every trip.  I do have a question regarding the price match policy…my thought is that they match the price of the competitors advertised sale price as long as the sale price is for that specified date…I have run in to them not taking the sale price on advertised conditional sale price (i.e. Market A has Bounty paper towels on sale 2/$1 but the print underneath states with an additional $20 purchase).  Does it matter is the advertised price is clearly marked?

          • Anonymous says:

I don’t usually shop at Walmart because of their lack of customer service.  I only go when I can get something for free.  My shopping is mostly at Target and CVS.  But I think it has to be specific product and specific price for them to price match.  I think the additional $20 purchase won’t allow you to price match.  I think this will fall in the first no no of their price match that says:  “Items that require a separate purchase to get the ad price.”  I might be wrong so try calling customer service.  They might know a little better and help you clarify the price match policy.  HTH… ;)

i have some more freebies to add to ur list!! =] if u got some tampax radiant last time they were on sale at rite aid then u got a $2 off mfr coupon inside…they r on sale for $3.99, use the $2 coupon, pay $1.99 oop but get back $2 UP! FREE =D and at target i got a bunch of small bottles of clear shampoo that were on sale for $1.99, i know the $2 off mfr coupon states that it wont work on trial/travel sizes but i thought i would try it anyway and they totally worked, no problems at all! FREE =D and the lunchables at target are on sale for $1 but i was able to use the $1/2 target coupon AND the $1/2 mfr coupon and it worked too! the coupons do state that u need to have fruit in the lunchables but my cashier didn’t even care, i liked her! haha so they were FREE! booyah =D

    •  just because the cashier took the coupon or the register scans the coupon doesn’t mean that it is okay to use a coupon on an item it isn’t intended to be used for. it seems that you knew that you were doing the wrong thing. may be you should think a little harder next time you use a coupon improperly and then boast about it for everyone to see.

      • Kelsie Kikel says:

well excuse me for trying to get a good deal! you guys really need to take things less seriously. i was just trying to show some enthusiasm on here just like everybody else. im shocked at some of the negative and just plain rude things i have read on this website, it’s quite upsetting to think that some people have nothing better to do than to judge and criticize people ONLINE. so go take a chill pill coupon police, nobody put a gun to my cashier’s head.

    • Ashley Black says:

not to be the coupon police but yeah…that cashier could lose their job for accepting coupons for the wrong items. To me, getting something free isn’t worth getting somebody fired for!!

My 2 local Walgreens is always out of the good deals from the get-go.  This week was no exception.  The local “couponing” women emptied out the shelves at 7am.  I’m so tired of them leaving nothing.

    • Anonymous says:

I seem to be seeing that problem more too. Very frustrating when I never do more than 2 transactions so there is product for others.
Try going when they get new shipment later in the week.

    • Anonymous says:

:(  Same thing happens to me with CVS, Walgreens, Target and Walmart…  It’s a shame people clear shelves like it’s the end of the world…  Hopefully you can get some when the store gets a new shipment.  Try asking them when the truck gets them new stuff…  ;)

    • Anonymous says:

I also think they just aren’t putting them on the shelves:( I’ve been checking my Walgreens the night before sales and they will have a space for the item but not have any there. I check throughout the week and they never get them in. It seems to be happening more often and at more stores. I just get the deals I can and my stockpile is steadily growing:)

      • Anonymous says:

It’s the same thing I’ve been thinking about Target, for example, with the deal of the Sonia Kashuk accesories.  I haven’t been able to find the ones that would come out for free at any of the 3 different Target stores I’ve been to.  And I have been going since the deal was shared here in the blog till yesterday.  Not so many people can be getting them to still be clearing the shelf, right?  I might be wrong but seems a little far fetched…  :-/

        • Anonymous says:

I was thinking the same thing. Everytime the coupon for the free Up & Up Ibruprofen comes out it disappears or is moved to the trial size bins.

          • Anonymous says:

You are right!!!!!  I just remembered that it took me 3 trips to finally get a bottle of the free Up & Up Ibuprofen!!!!!  But they shouldn’t do that because in the event that you don’t have Q’s you can be confident purchasing a strore brand product because you were able to try it for free before.  Or prefer to get a Sonia Kashuk makeup brush than a MAC one because you liked it better when you were able to try it for free…  But I guess they don’t see it that way… :-/

    • Anonymous says:

I have also experienced empty shelves. But in my opinion if there are say 25 items and you take 15-20……YOU have cleared the shelf. I also used to take more than my family and I needed and would donate the rest but I have realized from reading alot of post I can help someone else who has a tight budget just by leaving it on the shelf!

      • Anonymous says:

Absolutely!  And if you only take a couple yet coupon consistently, you’ll still have some to donate!

Ugh!!! I opened my SS this morning and the first coupon is for Ronco Pasta .55 off any 2. I was so excited because we haven’t gotten these in a long time, to my horror the exp date is June 10, 2012. TODAY IS JUNE 10, 2012!!!!! Did anyone else get this and what is up with that?? My local coupons often seem to be some sort of rejects that nobody would want, that’s why I cancelled my paper subscription and I buy the more expensive out of town papers, but I guess the delivery person isn’t aware because he keeps delivering to me, for now, thats how I got this Ronco coupon! I’m anxious to see if it’s the same in the Bham paper. I’m about to email Ronco and see if they have any explaintion!

I’m so diappointed in the stores around me, none of them have the Kotex pantiliners for less the $2!

    • Lovin Summer says:

wow, pantyliners should be under $2.00…they’re only liners! what a ripoff. where do you live?

      • Anonymous says:

i’m in florida and things tend to be more expensive here.

        •  i saw the spot on the shelf for the liners at target and walmart yesterday that they were about 94-97 cents and i live in florida. i was unable to get any for my self because the shelves were empty at both locations

          • Anonymous says:

the closest target to me is 45 mins away and our walmart doesn’t carry the small packs. i already asked:(

  7. Weronika Z says:

dont forget at target you can get the free clear products with your $2 coupon and the $2 target coupon inside the box its going to be the 7 day starter kit so buy up a lot of papers to get this freebie

    • Sonia Ros says:

      which one?thanks

      • Anonymous says:

There are these black boxes (that come with 2 shampoos and 1 conditioner) located next to the registers.  Inside the box there’s a $2 off Target coupon that you can use along with the $2 off MQ and get the starter kit FREE…  HTH :D

I went to target yesterday and they also had the One touch ultra mini Glucometer on sale for $9.99

FYI – Just came back from Walgreeens and the ONLY Nivea Mens items that were part of the promotion were the Shaving cream, the shave balm (pictured in ad) and the Q10 balm (I know it said wasn’t included but they had the tags.)  None of the other items (splash, cleansers or moisturizers were ringing up on sale and they didn’t have the sale tags for them.  I live in MD.  Just wanted people to know as it wasn’t a very good trip to only get the balm for almost free.  The shaving cream is not a good deal.

    • I live in Georgia and the same thing happened to me. I got the shave balm on sale but everything else rang up regular price. The lotion was supposed to be on sale too but my store was out. I was so excited about this deal but it wasn’t worth the trip :(

    • Anonymous says:

at my store only the balm was available, and the coupon states limit one of like coupons per transaction, so I was only able to use 1 coupon for the transaction.

    • Sonia Ros says:

just the same for me  in florida. only the shave balm. any idea about the $10 rr when you spend $30 in gillete products?  thks

    • Same here in northern CA. I went and didn’t see the splash on the shelf at all. They didn’t carry it. So I got 2 balms for almost free too. It wasn’t really a successful couponing day for me there.

    • Anonymous says:

The balm was on sale at my store but RR did not print   :-(

Totally off subject but I grabbed the HE formula Tide tonight and I don’t have an HE washer.  I don’t want to take it back unless I have to! Has anyone used it in a regular washer and whats the difference??? Thanks

    • Anonymous says:

He just means that its low sudsing. It will be fine in a regular washer you just may not notice it suds much if any.

      • Anonymous says:

Thank you!  I thought it would be OK, but wasn’t sure. I got it because it was the only one with Febreeze and wasn’t paying attention!

  11. isn’t the flex batch of the pectin a big container? Do they make it in the envelopes? I am just wondering. I thought flex batch meant a big container so you could make a big batch or a small one. Thanks for any info anyone has.

    • I purchased the envelopes for .97 each…the large jar was 3.??…

    • Anonymous says:

The flex batch just means that you can change how much sugar you use in each batch. The regular is 1 2/3 cups or 1 cup. I did a batch of strawberry and black berries , it was great. I have a large jar but made a 3 cup batch. The low or no- sugar pectin is NONE or 1/2 cup of sugar or sugar substitute or honey. Have fun and mix your fruit it tastes great.

    • Anonymous says:

Where are these located?  Do you know?  And what can I do with these?  I saw the bottles but that’s it and saw them in the baking aisle…  TIA…

  12. for pantyliners not valid on 14-22 count
