Ladies, this is it!  We tell you about lots of ways to earn extra money, but this offer is, in my opinion, the best offer we get to share all year. This is an amazing way to earn a lot of extra money by opening some free bank accounts for your family members!

There are three types of accounts and three bonuses:  one for adults, one for teens and one for kids.  All accounts are free, have no minimum balance requirements and most importantly carry NO monthly fees. There isn’t a catch, ladies!  This is the real deal!

Through July 3rd, ING DIRECT is having a Financial Independence Day sale  with three HOT payouts for opening new accounts. Earn up to $152 for opening an Electric Orange account, $17.76 for opening a kids saving account, and $27.76 for opening a MONEY account (teen checking account). You can open an account for every member of your household!  If you have ten kids, you should be hearing ‘ca-ching’ right about now.  (The Duggar family, with their 20 kids, could earn about $800.  How much can you earn?)

Here’s how it works:

Get $152 for opening ING DIRECT Electric Orange Checking Account

Open an Electric Orange account between June 30 and July 3rd. (If the 4th comes and you are seeing fireworks, you are too late. The 3rd is the last day you can sign up.)

  • Make a total of 5 purchases (either signature or pin-based) using your Electric Orange card or Person2Person payments within 45 days of opening your account.
  • You will earn a $76 Bonus that will be deposited to your account by August 22nd.
  • You can earn an additional $76 by setting up direct deposit to your Electric Orange account.
  • You will need to have at least two deposits of at least $250 post to your account by August 31st.
  • Your additional $76 Bonus will be deposited to your account by September 10th.
  • Pretty simple way to earn up to $152 FREE!

Get $17.76 for opening ING DIRECT Kids Savings Account

Open a Kids Saving account with ING DIRECT between June 30 and July 3rd and earn $17.76.

  • You will receive the bonus for opening a new account. Either yourself or  your child must be a new customer.
  • Your child has to be under 18 to qualify.
  • There is NO minimum deposit required to open the account.
  • Your $17.76 bonus will start to earn interest as soon as the account is opened and is available for withdrawal after 30 days.
  • That’s it–a FREE $17.76!

Get $27.76 for opening ING DIRECT Teen Money Account

Open a MONEY account between June 30 and July 3rd and earn $27.76 .

  • A MONEY account is a bank account for teens that includes a debit card meant to be jointly managed with their parents.
  • Make 1 card transaction, either signature, pin-based, or with PayPass, within 30 days of account opening.
  • Your $27.76 bonus will be automatically deposited to your account on day 35.

  1. I signed up but have not completed my account yet (ie they’ve not pulled my credit yet).  I am wondering, is a hard ding to my credit even worth $76?

This is such a good deal, I have been at war with myself for the past 4 days and I still can’t muster up the guts to do this because of this statement on their Account Disclosures: “by applying for Electric Orange or using our Electric Orange features, you’re also applying for an Overdraft Line of Credit.”
I don’t want another line of credit opened.  I just want a checking account.

  3. Laily Haikal says:

Omg, this is amazing. Can we open them online?

    • LailyCouture says:

Oh never mind, lol. Got my answer by reading the comments. Usually I read the comments before posting my own, but this deal got me all excited and forgot to keep reading till the end, ha!

Here’s the problem with opening one for your child. A SSN number will probably be required. Many hackers are now using children’s SSN to steal identities because no one will know about it until that child starts trying for a credit card, student loan, etc. Once a bank has it, it’s not that hard for it to fall into the wrong hands. If you do make an account for your kid, please make sure you get at least a yearly credit report on them to make sure things are as they should be. You can get free ones once a year anyway.

  5. I had to deposit $1, it wouldn’t let me do 50 cents…but that’s ok! Most checking account deals like this require an immediate $100 down so this deal rocks!

  6. I got them today. Thank you so much for posting about this!

  7. TifaniRene says:

Does anyone know how long you need to keep your account open for? And if there is a minimum that you need to keep in there by Sept. 10th?

    • Anonymous says:

It doesn’t say a specific time period that the accounts have to be open for. You would just want to make sure that your account is still open when you are supposed to receive the bonus.

  8. Shansopink says:

PNC bank also does a similar reward, mine is up to $150

  9. Thank you SO much for this post KCL!  Followed the directions and everything worked perfectly!  Started savings accts for both my son and my daughter and an account for myself and we will make $187.52 for nothing!  Appreciate all the help and the free CASH!  Cha-CHING!!! Quick question though… Does this also work if say you refer a friend? Does the referral bonus as well as these bonuses stack up? So they would get all the ones listed above plus the $25 referral and I would get $10 additional per referral? Just curious how it works if anyone has done it? Thanks~

  10. Jane says:

I did it for my husband and I…but when i went to enter in my daughters information…it says that the adults SSN is invalid?  I just opened an account under it…so not sure? Anyone else run into this and if so..how did you get around it?

    • Anonymous says:

When I created my child’s savings account, I used their SSN not mine. The only time I used my SSN was when I created my Electric Orange account.

  11. Sorensenhvac says:

Just signed up the whole family. Me plus the significant other and 6 children. My total earned will be $430.56. Thank you!

  12. Albrightcoup says:

    Yay it worked!!!

  13. Albrightcoup says:

Tried to open account, keep getting error page saying their applicant processing is currently down, please try again later.  Grrr!

  14. Luckyducko says:

I have to say I love ING!  Been a member since 2002. I’ve been able to take advantage of this deal before even as an existing member.  Their referral program is awesome too!  I’ve always gotten the promised promotions!

  15. Triciagram says:

    Sweet!

  16. Hogback says:

If I opened an account for my teen daughter with $50.00 we would recieve $27.76 after the deposit this being a one and only payment to that account

    • Anonymous says:

Yes. The only requirement for the MONEY account is that you make 1 purchase within 30 days of opening the account. Through trial and error, we found out that $0.50 is enough to open the account. That being said, you could open it with less than $50 if you wanted to.

  17. this deal is no longer valid

    • Anonymous says:

Try again Cherisse. I just checked it and it is still working. This is one of the hottest offers of the year and I’d hate for anyone to miss out.

  18. Shandi says:

Well, it says either you or the kid can be the new customer, but in order for me to open accounts for my kids I have to log-in to my own account. If I open the kids from there, do I still get the money?

    • Anonymous says:

It says that just one of you have to be the new customer. So, you should be just fine to log-in to your account to create a “New” account for your child.

  19. Cfletch22 says:

I was wondering what does this mean:

“You will need to have at least two deposits of at least $250 post to your account by August 31st”

    • Iknow says:

two direct deposits deposited in to your account

    • Does that mean you can just take out and put it back in again? And there’s your two deposits?

      • Anonymous says:

A direct deposit is the deposit of funds directly into a bank account. An example of that would be having your paycheck deposited into your account by your employer’s bank, rather than receiving a paper check.

  20. I’ve been meaning to open a separate account for my son’s savings. So glad I waited! Now he has an account and I just got a new one, too!

  21. Anonymous says:

Does the direct deposit have to be from an employer or can you set up an auto-transfer from another bank account?

    • Anonymous says:

It does not say that it has to be a direct deposit from an employer. I believe it could be from another bank account.

  22. anthony kim says:

Does this require a credit pull?

    • Anonymous says:

This is what it says on the ING Direct site for the Electric Orange account:
As part of the account opening process, we will obtain information about you from a consumer reporting agency. Based on that information, we may or may not open Electric Orange for you.
Nothing is said concerning a credit check for either the MONEY account or the Kids Savings account.

      • Shelly says:

I froze my social security number with all the the credit bureaus.  When I attempted to sign up with ING, it said I was denied because they couldn’t access my report from Equifax.  So to answer your question, yes they will do a “credit pull”.  If your number is frozen, you will have to un-freeze it prior to opening an account.

      • Opened an account last week, they do a hard pull on your credit report.

    • JenDP says:

I just applied and on the credit pull, I was denied. Appartenly you do need to have a certain credit score I guess. I will find out why by a letter in the mail. I’m a little disappointed since I don’t like to use credit and prefer to pay cash or check.

    • Anonymous says:

Thanks for the heads up, Guys! I’m currently trying to build up my credit & can’t afford to have any pulls on it. Thanks again :)

  23. Joenklesko says:

Love ING! Easy way to free money – who would pass this up?

  24. guest says:

I also heard a few years ago that ING is not an American company and that makes me a little nervous

    • Anonymous says:

ING DIRECT has offices all over the world. The U.S. headquarters is in Wilmington, Delaware and is a member of the FDIC.

    • Unfortunately, ING was recently acquired by Capital One. I liked them and had considered opening a few accounts but I refuse to do business with big banks. This is a great deal but I think I’ll stick with my local credit union.

      • jason says:

i’ve had an ING savings account for about 8 years or so, with a checking account at a local credit union.  now that capital one is involved, i may just have to cancel the accounts and open a savings account at the credit union instead.  (after i get my bonus money here of course!)

        • At least you’re doing it strategically! It’s such a hassle to switch banks too. Personally, I’m not sure it’s worth the time to jump through all the hoops for the free money. I’ve become a bit more discerning in terms of deals I do lately because of the sheer amount of time it takes. I’m pretty happy with my credit union too.

  25. Hokies says:

I dont like the fact you have to enter in your kids social security information. I understand its a bank, but its also online. :(

    • Tiffany Lynn says:

i just tried to do this and got this message We’re sorry, but the referral email offer you received for an account opening bonus has expired and is no longer valid. We recommend that you contact the sender and ask them to re-send the referral email. Or click ‘Continue’ to proceed with the account opening process without the bonus.

      • Anonymous says:

Tiffany, you may want to try again. I just tried to it and it worked for me. This is such a great deal, I’d hate for you to miss out.

Does an adult have to be custodian for the childrens savings accounts?

    • Jwylie1977 says:

An adult has to be on the account with them. Not necessarily as a custodian. Minors are unable to individually own an account.

  27. Cgaldonesads says:

ING Direct’s interest rates are competitive. But the reason why I stopped banking with them is that they have no beneficiary designation.  Please keep that in mind when you have an account with them.

  28. Deziree says:

ok the forum says no min deposit and its telling me that i have to put atleast .50 in…..did anyone else have to put a min deposit?

    • guest says:

I put in $2.24 for each of my 3 children. So that would be an even $20 for each child. I know this does not answer your question but at the least I hope you find it useful.

    • Dmiro56710 says:

thaqnsk for the tip opened 4 accounts for my kids!!  i did put money in the acct

  29. Abiggz says:

I’ve been a member of ING Direct now since 2004 and have no complaints (only ones related to the economy). Their interest rate on the savings account is better than most banks, and you earn interest on the checking account.

  30. Anonymous says:

There is a catch, if you ever had or have an Orange Savings Acct. with ING, you aren’t eligible for this freebie :(

    • Abiggz says:

No because I’ve only ever had a savings account with them, and I just started the checking account today, and I’m eligible to receive the freebie. There is another freebie that if you refer 2 friends, you get $76.

      • Anonymous says:

Interesting, I filled out all the information and received a message that I wasn’t eligible for the freebie because “it was for new members” only.

  31. guest says:

Does anyone know how long it takes to get your debit card once you sign up?

  32. Anonymous says:

Just signed my kids up for the savings accounts. It was very easy, and who wouldn’t want free money!?

  33. Anonymous says:

I did this last year and couldn’t believe how easy it was. I got my free money, as advertised.  I am wondering if 7:30 AM is too early to call all my friends to tell them about this offer! :)

    • I know, right?  This offer is just like couponing–people think it’s too good to be true, but it isn’t!  You really can make hundreds from your computer right now!  I just wish I had more kids!  Bahahaha!
