After reading the post on KCL about the fraud case going on, I think I now know what’s happening to the newspaper coupons.  Fraud hurts everyone!

I have to agree, there are less usable coupons in the inserts on Sunday. Not to mention one of my papers went up an extra dollar…which I’m glad I decided not to buy this week. I’ve been hitting the online sources for coupons and seem to get a few more that I can use. But between the raised prices at the grocery store and the lack of coupons…my grocery bill has definitely sky-rocketed the past 2 weeks. I try to take advantage of weekly store sales, but with only one store available to me besides Wal-Mart, it’s difficult to maintain a well stocked pantry.

Houston Chronicle had two SS this week. Still pretty slim pickings. That’s OK — I’m way behind in my insert filing.

    • I have 2 versions of SS. Not too many coupons of interest to me but I’m sure I’ll make use of a few of them. Maybe the “coupons” are taking a vacation.

Has anyone else noticed the amount of coupons in the sunday papers seem to be declining. Is this just me or am I missing another source of finding coupons?

Its almost not even worth it anymore.

I just bought 2 papers and am VERY disappointed. I recently moved to El Paso and noticed that I’m not getting anywhere NEAR the coupons I used to get in the Houston Chronicle. I have not been saving near as much and am just so upset. I know some are regional but this is CRAZY. I only got a bunch of trash in the newspaper this time. the SS was full of advertisements and a dollar general insert. I also only got miralax and the Neutrogena coupon. There’s no way I’m even going to be able to recoup the cost of the papers. I am so upset and feel like giving up on it all…anyone out there with any suggestions?

I usually get up to 7 inserts every Sunday. I took KCL’s tip and went to my local gas station and just asked. I go Sunday evenings and the same cashier just waves at me while I rummage the papers. I pay for one or two and take as many inserts as I want. They go to the trash anyways. The cashier, his name is Frank, is okay with it since it’s late at night and I am usually purchasing at least one. They even have left over LA times and other big city papers sometimes if I’m lucky. You can try that. I also ask my in Laws to save their Sunday papers for me. I can’t imagine paying full price for all the inserts I get.

Be sure to look through your Parade in your papers (East coast only, maybe? Mine was in the Washington Post) because there are coupons for KFC in there. They’re for “BOGO 6-pc. Bites Combo” which includes 6 bites, an individual side, and a medium drink. The ad attached to the coupon tells us to “Taste why bite-sized chicken’s all grown up”.

KFC hurts my tummy but I might try these for dinner tomorrow!
