Safeway Coupon Deals: Week of 8/15

Here are the deals happening this week at Safeway! Prices are valid 8/15 – 8/21 unless otherwise stated.

This week, in some areas, there is a doubler in the ad that allows you to double up to 4 coupons! The face value of the coupon (before doubling) must be $0.50 or less. The $10 Kraft catalina is great! Today I purchased 10 Mio $2.71 each with my just4u price, used 10 $1off1 coupons & received a $10 cat, making them only $.71 each! yay!

  2. winemom says:

    welches Juice is $1.99 and there’s a $1 Q, making it .99 cents;=)

  3. Gigi_gg says:

I get a lot of good deals with my Just 4 U card, BUT, I always have to get refunds at my local Safeway because every single time I’m overcharged as they don’t always ring up correctly.  And, not by small amounts.  Last week it was $16.30.  I’ve learned to just move my cart out of the way after I pay and check my receipt carefully, then, sure enough, I need to walk the few steps to customer service and get my refund…  And, the only free item I’ve been offered so far is something my store didn’t carry…and the clerk and assistant manager were very rude about it, too.

  4. Sandra says:

My prices are always better than most of these since I have personalized prices that I load to my account. It’s still good to see the coupon matchups here though.

  5. tonithetiger02 says:

Sometimes Safeway For U gives out freebies with no purchase necessary.  A few months ago they gave out Ritz Crackerfuls.  I just got the notice for FREE Betty Crocker Shake ‘n Pour Desserts (13.10-13.77 oz).  All you have to do is load it to your Safeway card and it’s free.

    • tonithetiger02 says:

Sometimes in some other areas it’s not the same item.. but they do freebies all over the place so it doesn’t hurt to check!

    • Anonymous says:

That is great! They do give out freebies every once in awhile. The free items can depend on the area you live in. We try to post them if we see them too so everyone knows to check their accounts, but it’s a good idea to keep an eye on your account like you’re doing to see what new free or discounted items you have received!

wow this weeks sale is the worst!! good thing I got groceries last week!!

  7. Nicole says:

I have a question can someone please help, i have the safeway just 4 u thing, and on there it has a coupon that can be added to your card for $1 off lucky charms and then i have a printed off coupon for $.60 (that would get rounded up) when i go and scan the two will it only take one deal or will both deals work giving me $2.00 off lucky charms?

Also has anyone ever had problems with safeway taking the printed coupons?  Sometimes mine scan and then others they wont scan at all, am i doing something wrong?

Thank you for the help!!!!!!!!! :-)

    • merussell says:

it will only take one coupon which one i’m not sure but i think the electronic ones are deducted first

      • Nicole says:

im not sure becuase one minute scanner wont take any coupons exceotpt the ones on the card and then the next it takes both the ones from my card and the three printed off ones i gave them (like i did with the fruit snacks), its wierd.

    • washingtongirl says:

My Safeway checker told me that some of the internet coupons just don’t scan on their machines.  He said they need to have two sets of barcodes.  For example, whenever I print a GeneralMills coupon (like your Lucky Charms), it NEVER works.  They have to manually do it.  That checker was a manager and said it’s nothing wrong with the coupon, but that they just don’t work with their machines.  He manually did it for me as a courtesy and said it would be the last time, that from now on I would have to only use coupons with two sets of barcodes.  However, I have tried a few other times with General Mills cereal coupons with other checkers and they just push it through.  Sounds like Safeway needs better scanners that can take all the codes, but I do like their cereal sales when they have them!

      • Anonymous says:

They do have great cereal sales!

      • Complain to corporate – through Facebook or Safeway’s website. The Safeway by me had this same problem, even though customer service assured me that all Safeways were equipped to scan the new GS1 only coupons (the 1 barcode kind). However, that was not the case, and after making a stink about it, they fixed their equipment.

    • Anonymous says:

They will usually only take one coupon. Safeway’s Just4U coupons are a mix or store coupons and manufacturer coupons. If the coupon added to your card was a manufacturer coupon then they would just take the one you have loaded to your card.
If the coupon was a store coupon in most areas they will now just take the store coupon and not both a store and manufactuer coupon.
Safeway has recently changed their coupon policy in most areas, stating they will not take a manufacturer and store coupon combined. Check your local store coupon policy or give them a call to see if that is the case in your area. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.

  8. Question says:

I have to ask, I’ve fallen away from couponing for a bit but want to get back into things, I have continued to look at this site once in awhile and it seems like every time I look Safeway has no stock up symbols. Are they just not putting up good sales these days or has something changed with how they manage the info for this store on this site?

    • Nicole says:

I think that they have been having good deals! but i also use the just 4 you on the safeway card to help save more money on top of sometimes using coupons if they will scan.  For example they had the fruit snacks on sale for 4 for $4 and everyone knows that alone is a good deal because normally for one box its $2, but then with the just 4 you on the safeway card i saved .60 + .75 on two of them and then i had two coupons that they rounded to $1, so i saved $3.35 on 8 boxes that just alone with the sale would have been $8 but then with the coupons it was $4.65.  So i think that its a combo, they put a lot of deals in the paper insert and online, but the one thing to do in order to find more deals is to walk the isles for a minute because sometimes some of it isnt advertised.

      • Anonymous says:

That’s great! That is true, there are many great in store deals to be found. We try to post as many as we can throughout the week in the Safeway catagory. There were many great in store deals this week!

    • soft soap and Palmolive dish soap is 99 cents  the 10 oz use your coupon they double the first 3 and you can do as much transactions as you want. they were in the Sunday paper the soft soap and the Palmolive was in the la voz in the begging of July.

      • Lisa says:

My Randalls also has Ivory hand soap for .99. I live in an area that doubles up to .50 and triples up to .39. I had .25/1 Palmolive, .35/1 Softsoap and .30/1 Ivory. I got the Palmolive for .25 and Softsoap for .01 and the Ivory for .10. Those are stock up prices for me! :)

I don’t use my just 4u much. I have been doing great at Safeway lately though. The $5/$15 frozen was great! It is slower for grocery sales this week, but there are a lot of personal care items on sale.

      • Anonymous says:

        That’s great!

    • Anonymous says:

The stock up symbols are still used. They are added when items are 75% off or better. This week there were some good sale items but there wasn’t anything that was a super sale in the ad. There are many free or very discounted items found in the store this week though! They have the stock up symbol! Check the Safeway catagory to see what was found.

  9. Angie says:

Does anyone know if there any coupons for the Kraft mayo?? Thanks!

  10. Would you consider the $5 friday ground turkey a stock up price?

    • Deborahweiss81 says:

no! i in so cal , at Vallarta , same package of ground turkey is $3.99 this week .

    • Nicole says:

It depends on what the normal price of ground turkey is, i dont buy it, but try to keep a mental note on how much it was last time for however many pounds you bought, that should help.

    • Carpentergal says:

Yes! 1- 20oz package in California range from 3.99 – 7.99. The $5 turkey is a 3lb package… this is when i always stock up on ground turkey since my family does not eat red meat!
