Safeway Coupon Deals: Week of 9/12

Here are the deals happening this week at Safeway! Prices are valid 9/12 – 9/18 unless otherwise stated.

Be sure to add the free Gatorade Chews Just For U Digital Coupon to your Safeway Club Card. There are quite a few items on sale this week in the $5 Friday Sale. They have also added some two for $5 and three for $5 deals to this promotion making for some great savings!

This week in some areas there is a doubler in the ad that allows you to double up to 4 coupons! The face value of the coupon before doubling must be $0.50 or less. This is limited to one doubler per transaction per household per week. That means you can only double 4 coupons during the entire sales week. (The doubler is a coupon found on the front page of the ad. This is a regional coupon and will not be available in all areas.)

  1. LemonyFresh says:

Went to Safeway two times this week:

during my first visit, Safeway gave me $2.08 back in cash! I have no idea what happened but I bought the deli fresh on 50% clearance and a powerade and they told me they owed me $2.08 due to all the discounts on my card (no paper coupons needed) Manager approved!

My last visit ended with me buying two Safeway select pizzas and 2 12pk Dr. Pepper & 2 12 pk Coke. With my Just4U $1.50/ 2 12 pk Coke, $1/2 Dr. Pepper, I bought all 4 12 pks for $5.49 total ($6.99 regular price each).

I have no clue why my Safeway card only charged me for 1 12 pk, but I combined the sales of B2G2 12pk Coca Cola products and free chips ahoy! promo with the B2 Safeway Select Pizzas and get 1 12pk Dr. Pepper free promo. I didn’t know till I was at the store that Dr. Pepper counts for the Coke 12 pk promo.

Does Anyone know if Tom thumb will offer a rain check if they are out one or more of the $5 Friday deals?

  3. dcelizabeth says:

I am still confused about the Just 4 U program. The couple times I have loaded coupons and shopped, my paper coupons have not scanned for those items. The cashier and I took that to mean that if you have loaded a coupon onto your card, that is the one that “takes” and you can’t use any paper coupons. Which is the pits, bc then I cant use paper coupons that double (my Safeway doubles). Is this true? How do I stack? Just read more carefully and only stack when the 4 U coupon says “off”?

    • Kyndra says:

On the website I think it says it automatically takes the higher value coupon. I just don’t load their coupons if I know I have my own.

      • Anonymous says:

That is correct. It can be easiest to use your own paper coupons if you have them. Especially if you are stacking or doubling.

    • Anonymous says:

Many of the coupons on the Just For U site are actually manufacturer coupons. Once you add these to your card you cannot bring in another manufacturer coupon for the same item. You can bring in a Safeway in ad coupon to stack to it however.
You can stack an in store coupon with a manufacturer coupon. The confusing part comes when we load our Safeway cards with coupons and aren’t sure which are which. Both types of coupons are in the Just For U site. To be safe you could bring in paper manufacturer coupons and bring in paper in ad coupons to stack and double.
You can also look at the Safeway weekly ad to see which coupons are in the in store coupons if you want to still load them to your card.
Another thing you can do is just add coupons to your card that are great deals you are not finding from paper coupons. This way you are sure not to duplicate coupons. I hope that helps you!

  4. Anonymous says:

And also note, NOT everyone’s price will be the same. The Just 4 U program is catered specifically to your way of shopping. My mother in law & I purchased the same items (Johnsonville Bratwurst) and her price was more…I had Just 4 U savings on each brat I bought.

  5. pickenee says:

oscar mayar deli lunch meat isnt 3.99 – $1 from just for you… my just for you has them for $2.49 then $1 off just for you! should make them $1.49 each right?!

    • Anonymous says:

Yes, your club specials or Safeway store has them for $2.49 and then you have a $1.00 off coupon in the Just For U program? If that is the case then yes! That’s great! Be sure to check the Just For U coupon and see if there is a limit on the amount you can buy. Good find!

      • pickenee says:

I tried It last night, bought 4 oscar mayer deli lunch meat In one transaction and looked at my receipt and they were 1.49 each!!!! VERY EXCITED!!! looks like It was one time use only meaning one transaction so It worked out beautifully!!! :)

        • kayla says:

so if they same one time use you can buy more than one at the same time? Wow I did not know that

  6. Anonymous says:

The add for a Just for you digital coupon for the Kellogs cereal says $1 off one time… is that only ONE box of cereal or as many as I buy in one transcation?

  7. Kyndra says:

I know there has been a lot of confusion about stacking with the Just 4 U program, so I just wanted to let everyone know what I have figured out and what my experience has been.

If an item says a certain amount “off”….like “.50 off”…it is a Safeway coupon and can be stacked. For example, the Betty Crocker potatoes say “1.00 off” this week, which means they can be used with the .50/2 coupon on the Betty Crocker website. My store doubles and it will make the price .29! Another good one is the Shake and Pour desserts, with double they should be .50!

If the offer says “save”, it is a manufacturer’s coupon and won’t stack. If you notice, sometimes there will be both a “save” and an “off” offer for the exact same product. If you add them both to your card, they will both work. If you have a paper coupon for the product, it works the same way as the digital “save” coupon, except that it will double.

When using a “save” offer it prints up on the receipt: “J4U mfr E coupon”. When using an “off” offer, it prints: “J4U store E coupon”.

It makes for some excellent deals if you pay close attention. I got a lot of free Progresso Recipe Starters last week! Hope this helps :)

    • heather says:

Thank you for this post!! Ive been confused about the just 4 u program and this will help a lot!! :)

    • Leng Lian says:

Thank you for sharing this. Unfortunately, Safeway’s website is probably not consistent in behavior, as I just tried this yesterday and it did not work. I have a “$1.00 Off” on 2 Fleischmann’s Yeast strips loaded onto the card, and tried to use it with a manufacturer coupon. The one loaded to the card appears as “J4U mfr E coupon” on the cashier’s screen even though it doesn’t say “Save” in the safeway website. So I was unable to stack.

      • Kyndra says:

I’m still figuring this out! I know that if it’s a “save” it’s a manufacturer’s coupon. And I also know that if it is in the weekly ad it is a store price and coupons can be used. I’ve got a couple of things I’m gonna test out today ;).

    • herrokitty says:

      u are amazing thank u!!!!

    • Anonymous says:

Thank you Kyndra! This does work most of the time but every once in awhile there is a manufacturer coupon that says “off” or Safeway coupon that says “save” instead to throw us off! That is great you got lot’s of free Progresso Soup! Good work!

      • Kyndra says:

Scratch the “sale” or “off” business. Bottom line…if the coupon/offer expires on the last day of the store’s sale, it is most likely a store coupon and can be stacked. And if it’s in the weekly ad, it can be stacked. I swear, this Just 4 U stuff would be driving me nuts if it wasn’t saving me so much money!

  8. belle says:

Oops lol, meant to say the coupon for Ore-Ida potatoes no longer prints through the link given. ;(

  9. belle says:

Ore-Ida Potatoes offer is discontinued unfortunately. ;(

  10. KerryAG says:

There’s a coupon for $1 off any 1 pack of V8 V-Fusion 6 pack cans in last week’s paper…expires 10/31. Not sure if it was in SS or RP, but will I believe it will take it to 99 cents!

  11. ana says:

this question is not related to this post: KCL, i noticed the SEARCH box in the upper corner now goes to the internet, before, if i typed KRAFT, it would bring up anything in YOUR website where KRAFT appeared, can we know why the change? i loved it like it use to be, it was a GREAT TOOL!
