Walgreens Extreme Couponing (Week of 9/16): $5.00 or Less

Walgreens Extreme Couponing (Week of 9/16): $5.00 or LessWelcome to this post where we will lay out some extreme couponing deals that will cost you about $5.00 each week! First, here’s everything you need to know about shopping at Walgreens:

Walgreens allows one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon per product. You may use Walgreens Register Rewards in addition to these coupons. The Register Rewards print like a Catalina on a little machine near the cash register. The most important thing to remember when coupon shopping at Walgreens is that you have to have as many items to purchase as you have coupons, including any Register Rewards you want to use. We often use “filler” (cheap, extra items) so that we have enough items to purchase.

Walgreens has just launched a Balance Rewards Loyalty Program. Click here to read about it. Here you will also find a chart indicating how many rewards dollars you’ll receive when you earn so many points. According to the chart, 1,000 Balance Rewards Points equals $1.00–$1.25, depending on when you choose to cash out your points.

Before shopping at Walgreens, you might want to review the Walgreens How-To Video. Walgreens is certainly the hardest drugstore to shop, but it has the best deals! What I like most is that you can repeat the deals and get more product. The limits are just one per transaction, so you can get more than one item–just don’t clear the shelves! Here’s a link to the coupon policy.

How will the items with the RR work now?? ie – If you buy the Blistex Moisture Melt Lip Care (pay $2, get $2 RR), will you only be able to get the RR once?

  2. carly8650 says:

It says on the website for the balance rewards that rewards will not be awarded if we use store credit. So does the register rewards count as store credit? Also, I was planning on using my gift card. Can i still use my gift card?

  3. Sam says:

I did the 3/4$ glade plugIns scented oil warmer deal today. did deal as stated above and received a 2RR, which i think is a monthly deal. So, its a 2$ moneymaker. I wanted to see if the balance program would work today, all reward points were added to my card =)

  4. fudge says:

for the stride gum, since the coupon is bogo do you have to purchase 4 to get the points?

  5. sully says:

i could not find the thermacare coupon?

There is a $1.00/1 coupon available in RP 8/26 if you did not print this previously. I printed mine last week so can’t check now.

  6. e says:

    no coupon at the link

  7. sully says:

well with the points you certainly spend more than 5 bucks since you can not use the points with things that generate points. ummm not liking this

We are still earning rewards that can be used on other items we buy. I don’t know about you but I still have to buy some things I don’t always find with rewards so I’m hoping it will still work. Time will tell as we all learn more about it and learn how to make it work. I’m trying to be optimistic.

I haven’t checked yet, but are we able to use these rewards to purchase papers or stamps — items not valid for purchase with RRs?

      • Chrissy says:

I just read the following: Points will not be earned in a transaction where Redemption Dollars or Store Credit is used. So if you pay with a gift card, you won’t earn any points?!?!?

        • Anonymous says:

Sounds that way. Disappointing, huh? We are all still learning this new system so we’ll keep you updated!

      • cayacoup says:

But you can still use on items that earn RR, or vice versa, right? Is there a limit like CVS? The Stride gum, what if I want 2000 pts.? Can I buy 4 in one transaction? Or is it all like bfore where we still have to separate the transactions and it doesn’t matter how many time you purchase the deal per account? LOTS of questions!
