I constantly read the great deals you guys are getting and I’m green with envy. Living in Puerto Rico only leaves you with the option of using manufacturer coupons and Walgreens and CVS’s coupons. No supermarket coupons, no newspaper inserts, none of those options. I search hi and lo for clipping services (most don’t want to send to Puerto Rico because they think is going to be more expensive to ship even though is the same 44¢) and for printable coupons. I have saved a couple bucks but I have not been able to stockpile. Walmart is a pain with coupons more often than not and Kmart’s prices even with coupons I don’t think is worht it.

    My questions are:
    1. has anyone couponed based solely on manufacturer coupons (printed, clipped or however) without stores doubling or giving rockbottom prices enough to believe is worth the effort?
    2. Is it possible to build a stockpile even if there is no Kroger, Safeway, Rite Aid or any of those stores?
Consider that the only stores mentioned we share are Kmart, Walmart, Walgreens and CVS. We do have a supermarket chain owned by Walmart called Amigo, food is fresh and prices are on average by 2-4¢ higher, but I have never tried and see if they do price match like Walmart. I might be bothering some and maybe this is not the right forum for my questions but I so desperately want to make this work…!

Here are my answers: Yes and Yes! People coupon all the time using solely manufacturer coupons, and they still save a lot of money! You may not be able to save 90% off your grocery budget like some of our readers, but you can still save some serious dough! It’s totally worth it! And yes, it is TOTALLY possible to build up a stockpile with only a couple of stores. It may take a little longer, but it’s possible to build a great stockpile just one item at a time!

I live in a fairly small community. We have 1 Rite Aid, 1 CVS, 2 Walgreens, and 1 Walmart, but none of the large grocery chains and no store that doubles coupons. I use some grocery coupons but for the most part I work the deals @ CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens, I have built a stockpile on toothpaste, toothbrushes, deoderant, shampoo, razors, cosmetics, etc I do get newsapaper inserts, but you can print alot of those online anyway. You can also print coupons from Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, and Target websites as well as some of the regular coupon sites. Check the tab on this site “Print Coupons” The key is to watch the sales at CVS and Walgreens and combine the coupons with EB/RR promotions and any store coupons or promotions. This site helps ALOT. Utilize what you have and you can do great!! I usually pay $1 or less for any health & beauty items normally found at drug stores. Some weeks I even make a few bucks!! Good luck!!!

Just a heads up: I did something similar to this today, but it was with Dove chocolate that I had coupons for. Unfortunately, my +Up reward didn’t print. The cashier said it was because my bill was under $6 and it was “Spend $6,” not “buy 2.” However, I did but $6 before the manufacturer coupons.

Do you have experience with this??

Your +Up Reward still should have printed! I’m sorry! Call Customer Service and see if they can help you get your +Up Reward.

OK!! Thanks for replying – I was just wondering based on your experience since a lot of your deals are like this.

I called customer service. They said I should have gotten the +Up reward, but they are unable to see that until tomorrow when it updates in their system. They said to call back then and they would take care of it! Yea! :-)

I knew something seemed fishy about that…

          Thanks for the advice!
