how do ecbs work? do you have to pay out of pocket/up front?

like on this comment you would pay the $2.75, after paying you will have a $3 coupon on the end of your reciept so you have $3 to spend on your next purchase. I usually save mine then when i go and find another great deal i just use my old ecbs. It works really great when you keep rolling them. Hope this helped.
