My DT would not let me get them. The manager tried to say it was a trial size

  2. Neelam Yadav says:

i always have trouble finding the name brand stuff at DT. some workers do try to stop you in your tracks and prevent you from using coupons at DT. this week i was trying to use 2/2 olay soap bars and they would not allow and i fought back with facts on the DT website and another person try to stop me again second time and i pulled up the DT website to show them in black and white their website coupon policy. i fought even harder not lose my cool and told them that i spent my gas and time and followed thier DT coupon policy and it is not fair for them to treat us like this when we are following all the guidlines legally.

  3. Neelam Yadav says:

DT takes 2 internet Q per tanactions/per day.. but then there are some DT where the sales and manager dont care and takes as many internet coupons as you have and dont care to follow guidlines.

  4. Just tried to redeem these in NY at two diff locations they argue they it’s considered trial size bc they don’t carry the brand , it’s Redic

  5. Tarri says:

I went to my local Dollar Tree yesterday and found the shampoo/conditioner. I took six total to the register with my six coupons from inserts and saw the lady a couple head of my using one of the same coupons. The cashier went over to the manager and he told her the size of bottle was not trial and she could use it. She came back and told her she could only use two of her four coupons because the other ones were for styling products, which they were but if you did not pay attention you could think it was shampoo/conditioner. So when it was my turn I had no problem. Glad she went in line before me. Thank you KCL for posting this find.

I had the nicest cashier at Dollar Tree today. My DT finally had a product that was listed on here (Garnier Fructis), but I was worried they’d give me a hard time. Instead the lady asked me which paper I got the coupons in because she said she’d get some if she could find it. Then she showed me a stack of coupons that work in there right now, encouraged me to get yesterday’s paper for $1 & reminded me to check it first to make sure the inserts were still in it! Never had such a nice experience couponing before haha. :)

  7. Megs says:

I just got totally bitched out when I went to do this deal at Dollar Tree. I told them trial size is 1.7 oz. The lady told me, well this is OUR trial size, so it still doesn’t count. Ugh, I’m so mad!

  8. Kelly says:

I just tried to get this and dollar tree wouldn’t accept it because to them 3.4 oz is considered trial.

  9. I tried to use this coupon. but the lady argued that this is travel size. Told her that it looks kinda big for travel size.

  10. Dannie says:

How did you contact them? When I clicked “Contact Us” it just gave me some computer generated thing was FAQs and it wouldn’t let me ask a question

  11. Kristine says:

Are all Dollar Tree stores independant? I went into a Dollar Tree store in my area and when I handed the cashier my coupons she looked at me as if she had seen a ghost. She was like “uhm whats this”? I replied “coupons” she says “we don’t take coupons here” as she giggled… this is a one dollar store and everything is already just a dollar, when she was done having a good laugh, I explained to her that Dollar Tree does accept coupons and her reply was ” well this one doesn’t”. (In a very sarcastic tone)
So this is why I ask if Dollar Tree stores are independant therefore each store possibly having different policies when it comes to coupons?

They should all operate the same. I would make sure to keep a copy of the coupon policy with you in case something like this happens again.

    • Ashley says:

Contact corporate if the problem cannot be solved through managers. The dollar tree near me insisted that they did not accept any computer-generated coupons, so I contacted corporate, explaining the situation and asking if each store had their own coupon policy. They responded the next date saying that all stores were suppose to follow the same policy and they would fix the situation. No problems with internet coupons anymore, but they also told me the shampoo/conditioner is a trial size

  12. n00bcouponer says:

I’ve bought 2 conditioners at my dollar tree and regret now. Opened one and it was smelling awfull :(

  13. Lacy says:

I picked up 8 of these at our dollar tree last week, Iasked the cashier first and she read it and said “I don’t see trial or travel on the bottle, so it should work.”. And it did. Went back the next day and the shelf was empty :(

  14. Anonymous says:

    It should be!

  15. Anonymous says:

This is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this!

  16. tinabelle616 says:

My dollar tree wouldn’t let me use these coupons because of the trial size restriction. When I explained to her that 1.7 oz is the trial size she said “well this is considered OUR trial size”. And she was the manager! GRRRR…

    • Anonymous says:

I’m sorry the manager gave you a hard time. The trial size is determined by the manufacturer not the store.

  17. Amy T. says:

You also can use the $1/1 from the 3/3 red plum insert!!

  18. Linda says:

I too couldn’t use these. My Dollar Tree said they got a letter from corporate that told them NOT to accept any of these coupons any more. After reading the coupons carefully, I still believed they were good and went back yesterday. ALL GONE! Darn

  19. Anonymous says:

    That’s good to know!
Both Target & Walmart describe the 1.7 ounce bottles as ‘Travel’ size, and since 1.7 + 1.7 adds up to 3.4, what you researched makes sense! The TOTAL liquid volume allowed means you can fly with both shampoo and conditioner. Woo! Hoo!
As far as feeling bad for these stores, people should use coupons correctly. Contrary to it’s name, The Dollar Tree knows that money doesn’t grow on trees, which is why people abuse coupons. Sad, but true.

  20. XenaWP says:

    Thank you Drew!

  21. XenaWP says:

If Trial and Travel were the same, then companies would not waste ink printing both verbages on coupons. There IS a difference between the two. Trial has 1to 2 use, travel has 3 to 4. I think it is unfair of the manager to blame couponers for the entire loss of money when I am sure there are plenty of cashiers nationwide who, out of ignorance, take coupons that aren’t for the product the customer has bought

  22. lady camille mendoza says:

can you use 4 MFC and 2 internet coupons all at the same shopping trip?

  23. ju says:

my dollar store didn’t take it so i end up throwing all my 47 coupons away. darn!!!

    • Renee Karos says:

Oh no, next time offer them up there are always couponer’s ready to swap!

    • Anonymous says:

I’m sorry your Dollar Tree wouldn’t let you get this deal but don’t throw your coupons away. There could always be another deal at a different store they could be used at.

  24. samlindsay says:

Since its a 2 printable limit i can only get 2 and nothing else with print out coupons right? thanks

  25. red plum 3-03 has a 1/1 q

  26. Neelam Yadav says:

i got over 44 bottles in last week in couple of trips for free and paid tax only.

    • Jennifer2727 says:

      By using printable coupons?

    • Anonymous says:

      Wow that’s quite the stockpile!

      • liza beth says:

how much do you consider too much? seems like you are encouraging some shelf clearing :/

        • Kim H. says:

You can have 40 or 50 of something and not clear a shelf. I have 40 Poise wipes that I picked up 4 at a time from Target over the last 2 months.

          • cc says:

Wow, you must have some major hot flashes! LOL! Make sure you read the label, they are not actual “wipes” as most people think of wipes. They are cooling towelettes for hot flashes. I read where someone used it as a wipe and regretted it!

          • Anonymous says:

That is a great way to stockpile!

          • amanda davis says:

I agree. If you span the stockpile over a handful of trips, you shouldn’t have to worry about clearing shelves. Having 40 or 50 of something you use, and that has a very long shelf life, is how most of the successful couponers cut expenses. If you don’t stock up on the great deals for items you use, you aren’t ever going to be able to cut your budget to the percentile you need and want too. Smart stockpiling is one of the best strategies we have. I doubt if anyone on this site getting multiples of this deal have cleared any shelves.

          • liza beth says:

she said she got them in a couple of trips all in one week 2 trips=22 bottles each trip. i haven’t seen a dollar tree large enough to have the shelf space to stock the amount of items some ppl are getting and still be able to leave plenty for others. i think some ppl believe if you get 49 items & leave 1 or 2 you didn’t clear the shelf.

            • Neelam Yadav says:

there were few days between my trips and others had plenty of time to take advantage of this deal. and there were over 20 bottles still remain. clearing shelf is not good but i am always seeing shelves are clear for deals i am looking for and i keep going back to find more and it is hit or miss for other products and we do need to get there before others that is just how things are unfortunately.

        • Anonymous says:

Shelf clearing is not encouraged. This could be accomplished by going to multiple stores or by buying a few at a time as the store stocks them.

    • kcouponer says:

Why would you pay sales tax? You cannot multiply a sales tax rate against 0.00.

  27. AlRod_0703 says:

I want these! I’m going to my dollar tree now to find them!

  28. I only had two coupons on me but when they were questioning the coupons I told them trail size are smaller. So I got two for free :)

  29. S says:

I went to Dollar Tree today and they wouldn’t take them. They said they were trial size.

  30. velezmelissa1 says:

Snagged this deal in a heartbeat! Such a money saver!!

  31. newwife says:

So the dollar tree takes coupons?

  32. Larissa says:

I went to one store last week and got these fine, went again this week and they said they were considered travel size and wouldn’t take them. I ended up going to another dollar tree that did take them.

    • Anonymous says:

I’m glad you ended up getting this deal! Some Dollar Tree stores are harder to use coupons at than others.

  33. Anonymous says:

    Pizzaz to the rescue!
The ‘Travel’ size is 1.7 ounces. Google it. This is 3.4 ounces. You can show it to them from your electronic device or print it out. Plus, airlines don’t allow more than 3 ounces, so how can it be travel size?

  34. Carmen92 says:

    Mine too :(

  35. Abbeyc07 says:

My local dollar tree stated it was trail size and refused to take coupons.

  36. chelcie says:

some stores are saying that it is travel size and no longer allowing people to get them! but the coupon only says trial size not travel. so they should have been taking it. before they stopped taking them I was able to get about 30 with internet and manufactuer from samples in the mail.
