My DT would not let me get them. The manager tried to say it was a trial size

i always have trouble finding the name brand stuff at DT. some workers do try to stop you in your tracks and prevent you from using coupons at DT. this week i was trying to use 2/2 olay soap bars and they would not allow and i fought back with facts on the DT website and another person try to stop me again second time and i pulled up the DT website to show them in black and white their website coupon policy. i fought even harder not lose my cool and told them that i spent my gas and time and followed thier DT coupon policy and it is not fair for them to treat us like this when we are following all the guidlines legally.

DT takes 2 internet Q per tanactions/per day.. but then there are some DT where the sales and manager dont care and takes as many internet coupons as you have and dont care to follow guidlines.

Just tried to redeem these in NY at two diff locations they argue they it’s considered trial size bc they don’t carry the brand , it’s Redic

I went to my local Dollar Tree yesterday and found the shampoo/conditioner. I took six total to the register with my six coupons from inserts and saw the lady a couple head of my using one of the same coupons. The cashier went over to the manager and he told her the size of bottle was not trial and she could use it. She came back and told her she could only use two of her four coupons because the other ones were for styling products, which they were but if you did not pay attention you could think it was shampoo/conditioner. So when it was my turn I had no problem. Glad she went in line before me. Thank you KCL for posting this find.

I had the nicest cashier at Dollar Tree today. My DT finally had a product that was listed on here (Garnier Fructis), but I was worried they’d give me a hard time. Instead the lady asked me which paper I got the coupons in because she said she’d get some if she could find it. Then she showed me a stack of coupons that work in there right now, encouraged me to get yesterday’s paper for $1 & reminded me to check it first to make sure the inserts were still in it! Never had such a nice experience couponing before haha. :)

That is great!

I just got totally bitched out when I went to do this deal at Dollar Tree. I told them trial size is 1.7 oz. The lady told me, well this is OUR trial size, so it still doesn’t count. Ugh, I’m so mad!

I just tried to get this and dollar tree wouldn’t accept it because to them 3.4 oz is considered trial.

I tried to use this coupon. but the lady argued that this is travel size. Told her that it looks kinda big for travel size.

How did you contact them? When I clicked “Contact Us” it just gave me some computer generated thing was FAQs and it wouldn’t let me ask a question

Are all Dollar Tree stores independant? I went into a Dollar Tree store in my area and when I handed the cashier my coupons she looked at me as if she had seen a ghost. She was like “uhm whats this”? I replied “coupons” she says “we don’t take coupons here” as she giggled… this is a one dollar store and everything is already just a dollar, when she was done having a good laugh, I explained to her that Dollar Tree does accept coupons and her reply was ” well this one doesn’t”. (In a very sarcastic tone)
So this is why I ask if Dollar Tree stores are independant therefore each store possibly having different policies when it comes to coupons?

They should all operate the same. I would make sure to keep a copy of the coupon policy with you in case something like this happens again.

Contact corporate if the problem cannot be solved through managers. The dollar tree near me insisted that they did not accept any computer-generated coupons, so I contacted corporate, explaining the situation and asking if each store had their own coupon policy. They responded the next date saying that all stores were suppose to follow the same policy and they would fix the situation. No problems with internet coupons anymore, but they also told me the shampoo/conditioner is a trial size

I’ve bought 2 conditioners at my dollar tree and regret now. Opened one and it was smelling awfull :(

contact them…they should send you something to get a different one for free

Yup will do it…..thanks :)

I picked up 8 of these at our dollar tree last week, Iasked the cashier first and she read it and said “I don’t see trial or travel on the bottle, so it should work.”. And it did. Went back the next day and the shelf was empty :(

Sorry you weren’t able to get more. I’m glad you were able to snag this deal!

It should be!

This is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this!

My dollar tree wouldn’t let me use these coupons because of the trial size restriction. When I explained to her that 1.7 oz is the trial size she said “well this is considered OUR trial size”. And she was the manager! GRRRR…

I’m sorry the manager gave you a hard time. The trial size is determined by the manufacturer not the store.

You also can use the $1/1 from the 3/3 red plum insert!!

I too couldn’t use these. My Dollar Tree said they got a letter from corporate that told them NOT to accept any of these coupons any more. After reading the coupons carefully, I still believed they were good and went back yesterday. ALL GONE! Darn

Oh darn! Check back again before the coupon expires!

That’s good to know!
Both Target & Walmart describe the 1.7 ounce bottles as ‘Travel’ size, and since 1.7 + 1.7 adds up to 3.4, what you researched makes sense! The TOTAL liquid volume allowed means you can fly with both shampoo and conditioner. Woo! Hoo!
As far as feeling bad for these stores, people should use coupons correctly. Contrary to it’s name, The Dollar Tree knows that money doesn’t grow on trees, which is why people abuse coupons. Sad, but true.

Thank you Drew!

If Trial and Travel were the same, then companies would not waste ink printing both verbages on coupons. There IS a difference between the two. Trial has 1to 2 use, travel has 3 to 4. I think it is unfair of the manager to blame couponers for the entire loss of money when I am sure there are plenty of cashiers nationwide who, out of ignorance, take coupons that aren’t for the product the customer has bought

can you use 4 MFC and 2 internet coupons all at the same shopping trip?

Not if all the coupons are for the same product. I hope this answers your question.

my dollar store didn’t take it so i end up throwing all my 47 coupons away. darn!!!

Oh no, next time offer them up there are always couponer’s ready to swap!

I’m sorry your Dollar Tree wouldn’t let you get this deal but don’t throw your coupons away. There could always be another deal at a different store they could be used at.

Since its a 2 printable limit i can only get 2 and nothing else with print out coupons right? thanks

Correct. Unless you go to the store twice… 😛

red plum 3-03 has a 1/1 q

i got over 44 bottles in last week in couple of trips for free and paid tax only.

By using printable coupons?

Wow that’s quite the stockpile!

how much do you consider too much? seems like you are encouraging some shelf clearing :/

You can have 40 or 50 of something and not clear a shelf. I have 40 Poise wipes that I picked up 4 at a time from Target over the last 2 months.

Wow, you must have some major hot flashes! LOL! Make sure you read the label, they are not actual “wipes” as most people think of wipes. They are cooling towelettes for hot flashes. I read where someone used it as a wipe and regretted it!

That is a great way to stockpile!

I agree. If you span the stockpile over a handful of trips, you shouldn’t have to worry about clearing shelves. Having 40 or 50 of something you use, and that has a very long shelf life, is how most of the successful couponers cut expenses. If you don’t stock up on the great deals for items you use, you aren’t ever going to be able to cut your budget to the percentile you need and want too. Smart stockpiling is one of the best strategies we have. I doubt if anyone on this site getting multiples of this deal have cleared any shelves.

she said she got them in a couple of trips all in one week 2 trips=22 bottles each trip. i haven’t seen a dollar tree large enough to have the shelf space to stock the amount of items some ppl are getting and still be able to leave plenty for others. i think some ppl believe if you get 49 items & leave 1 or 2 you didn’t clear the shelf.

there were few days between my trips and others had plenty of time to take advantage of this deal. and there were over 20 bottles still remain. clearing shelf is not good but i am always seeing shelves are clear for deals i am looking for and i keep going back to find more and it is hit or miss for other products and we do need to get there before others that is just how things are unfortunately.

Shelf clearing is not encouraged. This could be accomplished by going to multiple stores or by buying a few at a time as the store stocks them.

Why would you pay sales tax? You cannot multiply a sales tax rate against 0.00.

I want these! I’m going to my dollar tree now to find them!

Hope you Dollar Tree has them!

If you don’t have them, you can also use them coupons at Target on their travel sized garnier

KCL already made it clear that it can’t be used on trial!

I said TRAVEL size. I have used them on the small bottles in the travel section many times

I couldn’t find them but now that I know I can use my coupon at target its not such a disappointment any more!!! :))

I only had two coupons on me but when they were questioning the coupons I told them trail size are smaller. So I got two for free :)

That’s great!

I went to Dollar Tree today and they wouldn’t take them. They said they were trial size.

Sorry to hear that! Let them know that the trial size is 1.7 oz

Snagged this deal in a heartbeat! Such a money saver!!

Yes it is!

So the dollar tree takes coupons?

Yes they do! They started taking them August 2012.

I went to one store last week and got these fine, went again this week and they said they were considered travel size and wouldn’t take them. I ended up going to another dollar tree that did take them.

I’m glad you ended up getting this deal! Some Dollar Tree stores are harder to use coupons at than others.

Pizzaz to the rescue!
The ‘Travel’ size is 1.7 ounces. Google it. This is 3.4 ounces. You can show it to them from your electronic device or print it out. Plus, airlines don’t allow more than 3 ounces, so how can it be travel size?

Thank you for the clarification!

You’re welcome!
Pizzaz is good for something once in a while! 😉

I told my dollar tree these and they did not believe me. but I do think that I have the worst manager ever in there. but I think I am going to try again this weekend when they should not be in there.

Smart strategy! It’s always better to go around a wall than to try breaking through it! (Would you believe I just made that up?!…LOL)

Pizzaz- you are like the coupon Yoda. “Teaching us good coupon tips, you are.” 😉 LOL

“May the coupon force be with you!” 😉

I ask before I purchased and was told they are travel size by the manager of the Dollar Tree I frequent most. I bet my manger could beat your manager in the worst manager of the year award.:)

oh snap! Pizzaz clarifies!

Occasionally, Pizzaz likes to help the mere mortals! 😉

Where oh where have you been Pizzaz? I haven’t seen you in such a long time!

“Absence makes the heart grow fonder!” 😉

I was wondering the same thing!

Mine too :(

Sorry you weren’t able to get this deal.

My local dollar tree stated it was trail size and refused to take coupons.

I’m sorry you weren’t able to get this deal. These are not trial size. The trial/travel size is a 1.7 oz.

How would you prove the trail size amount ..if it was questioned?? Thanks

You could show them the information on your smartphone.

can we used this coupon at walmart for 1.7 oz? because i saw one of the bragger used this i just cant find the post

Hate auto-correct on iPhone. trial not trail ha ha

These coupons can also be used at your local Target on their travel sized garnier. I have such a stockpile at this point from these coupons :)

some stores are saying that it is travel size and no longer allowing people to get them! but the coupon only says trial size not travel. so they should have been taking it. before they stopped taking them I was able to get about 30 with internet and manufactuer from samples in the mail.

Wow that is great you were able to get so many!

I was told Dollar tree doesnt take printable coupons?

The coupon policy states that they do take printable coupons but they limit you to two printable coupons per purchase per day.

Good to know tyvm

You’re welcome.

I had a problem using the Eucerin coupons at the rite aid in temple cuz the bar code does not start with a 5 and does not have thier logo on it?

Can you tell me is there a Snuggles fabric softener deal somewhere? I thought I seen one but cannot find it now. Thanks

Look under Dollar General

Did you get 30 in a day?

I thought you can only get 2 to print out. How did you get so many internet coupons?

You can get 2 to print out per computer. Your question should be…how many computers do you have?
