As advertised in this week’s Walgreens coupon matchup, Starbucks Refreshers are free after a $1.00 Register Reward! This morning I purchased one, and, in addition to receiving the $1.00 Register Reward, I also received a Catalina coupon good for $1.00 off two Starbucks Refreshers!

Here are some Register Reward reminders to keep in mind before visiting Walgreens:

  • Receive one Register Reward per offer per transaction.
  • You cannot use the Register Reward earned from a Starbucks Refresher to pay for a transaction containing another Starbucks Refresher. If you do, the second Register Reward will not print.
  • Stores have the right to limit the number of identical Register Reward items you can purchase or transactions you can do in one day.

TRANSACTION #1:

Buy 1 Starbucks Refresher, 12 oz $1.00, sale price through 7/6
Buy 1, Receive $1.00 Register Reward through 7/6
Pay $1.00, Receive $1.00 Register Reward and $1.00/2 Starbucks Refreshers Catalina

TRANSACTION #2:

Buy 2 Starbucks Refresher, 12 oz $1.00, sale price through 7/6
Buy 1, Receive $1.00 Register Reward through 7/6
Use one $1.00/2 Starbucks Refreshers Catalina coupon from Transaction #1
Pay $1.00, Receive $1.00 Register Reward
Final Price: Free, when you buy 2

The reports we have received indicate that if you use the $1.00/2 Catalina, a $1.50/3 Catalina coupon will print.

Thanks, Reader wfteresa

So if we save our $1 RR’s for later, we can come back n get another refresher for free with our RR?

Yes and no–No if you want to get another RR and yes if you don’t care about getting another RR. At Wags you can only get 1 RR per item per transaction. You can do multiple transactions and get multiple RR (1 per trans) but you cannot pay with the RR you just received for that product or you will not receive another RR. If you buy a Refresher and receive a RR you can turn around and buy almost anything else using that RR but not another refresher and receive another RR. Read Walgreens 101 for more detailed/ clearer info.

What you described is Walgreens policy. You cannot buy a product, receive a RR, and then turn around and use that RR to purchase the same item and get another RR (even if you go to another store). Walgreens can be tricky–please read Walgreens 101 for further explanations and clarifications.

I’m confused. So, I CAN’T use the RR to buy the Refresher in the next transactions?

Ok, I think I get it! LOL So, if I wanna keep buying Refreshers then I have to pay the $1 OOP and then just collect the RRs to use for something else?

        • Anonymous says:

Correct; however, be aware that at Wags you can only use as many coupons as you have items and RR count as coupons. What that means is if you get 5 RR from the Refreshers you would only be able to use them on 5 different products and could not use any other man. coupons–unless you also bought what we refer to as “fillers”–cheap items you purchase that you do not have a coupon for to count as an item when you use RR. You cannot, for instance, buy toothpaste for $5 and expect to use the (5) $1 RR to pay for it because it is only 1 product. You would need 4 fillers or if you had a man coupon, 5 fillers. That is why I suggest you read the 101 tab for Walgreens. Walgreens can be tricky.

Yeah, I knew that much. I use to shop there but stopped cause my WAGS was not coupon friendly. Recently found a new WAGS near my gym, so I thought I would give them a shot. Seems like a lot of new stuff going on. So, thank you for taking the time to help me out. :D

I purchase the Refresher and also received a Catalina $1.50 off 3 Refreshers. I then purchased 3 and received $1 RR and another $1.50 off 3. Not a bad deal! :-) (3 for .50 cents)

I have 7 Walgreens on 15 minute drive home from work, quick stop at each got me 10 refreshers for free. Of course only had 9 by time I was home.

I know that Walgreens can limit the number of identical register reward transactions that you can do in a day. When I went to get the Refreshers yesterday the cashier told me that the manager had set the limit at 2. She went on to say that I could buy as many as I wanted for $1 each she just couldn’t give me the register reward. That seems wrong to me. What do they do with the RR that prints out automatically…submit it to the mfr for reimbursement?? I can’t imagine them just throwing it away. I would be ok with them telling me I could only purchase 2. Am I wrong?

    • I think the idea is that they think you will only buy two if you can only get two Register Rewards, even if you’re allowed to buy more.

      • Lalainaday Hoshor says:

That is a possibility. However, it is my understanding that Walgreens was sued in the past by manufacturers for submitting RRs for reimbursement that were never given to customers. You’d think they’d be more cautious in the way they handle these situations. I shop at many Walgreens and this was the first time I have ever been told that I could purchase as many as I wanted, but couldn’t have the RR…just struck me as shady lol.

what i heard is from all the wags near me now has a limit of 3 per day, bc of the corporate order. corporate has got too many complains that customers came in and left empty handed.. there are too many ppl getting not too many, but when lots of ppl do that you dont have enough for others later on the day or week, and they have to wait for the new order to come.. and that happened to me before, when the trucks came and they were again out of stock.. and of course u cant get raincheck for RR…

          • There is nothing in the Corporate policy, at this point in time, that limits anyone to three transactions or Register Rewards. However, the individual stores can implement these kinds of limits at their own discretion.

I read this a while back. Walgreens submitted thousands of RRs for reimbursement and had no records showing that such quantities were purchased by customers.

I also received Catalina when I bought it yesterday. I’m going back for more today =)
