Total saved = $39.59!!! Judy Wow Marcee!! That’s great! I live in an area they double as well…how did you get them to agree to that many transactions with doublers? My local store wont do that, u r lucky! TaraL I’m brand new to this couponing thing. (This week!) What is the Safeway doubling coupon thing? Rollin Welcome to couponing Tara. The KCL’s are fantastic teachers of this fine art. You should be here as often as possible to learn. Especially from others in the bragging lounge. What are Safeways coupon doublers you ask? In the weekly Safeway flyer found in either the Wednesday paper or at the store by either of the doors there are coupon doublers. It is a very small advertisement (1.5″ x 4″) found at the bottom of any one of the inside pages. This little gift allows a shopper to double any unrestricted manufacture coupon up to 50 cents. The wording is a little goofy but here is the layman way. Coupons up to $.50 can be doubled. Coupons greater than $.50 can have $.50 added to them. Each doubler can be used for up to four coupons per transaction. A transaction is one payment trade between each of those little grocery seperaters on the belt. In order for Marcee to double all of her coupons she needed to do it in more than one transaction. There is no limit to how many papers you you can grab by the front door in order to get the doubler. I usually get 1 for studying, 10 for the doublers and another 10 for the store coupons. Restricted coupons are Safeway store coupons, eCoupons, and any manufacture coupon that says “Do not double or triple” or “Coupon not subject to doubling”. I hope this helps. Just reply if you have questions. Good Luck! Rollin Rollin Way to go Marcee! I love planning out those doubler transactions. I think that’s why the KCL’s motto is “Pick Another Checkout Lane Honey”. We took all the time to plan this out and we’re not done til’ the cash register sings. LOL. Keep up the great work. Rebecca Spent 15 cents at Vons yesterday for 7 boxes of cereal, 3 boxes of granola bars and 2 bags of M&M’s (thrown in to absorb the overage when things started getting negative!), AND got a $1.50 cat. Attached is a picture of ecoupons gone KRAZY!!! Cindy 2 granola bars 8 boxes of cheerios 2 packages of 12oz cheese slices 6 yoplait yogurts 1 4-pk yoplait delights 3 digiorno pizzas 1 loaf bread 2-18pk eggs 1 coffee mate 4 bags of cat treats paid 19.22 savings of 73% before coupons and KCL, I would’ve paid that just for the bread, eggs, coffee mate and cat treats! Melissa Im very proud of my shopping today, I got: 2 Cocoa Puffs – 1.99 each 2 Cinammon Toast Crunch – 1.99 each 1 NV Salty and Sweet Bars – free 2 Nut clusters – 1.99 each 1 Dawn Dishsoap – 1.99 after coupons and e-coupons I only paid $4.03 Total savings of $23… I even got compliments from the cashier… Thank you KCL for all the deals!!! It was amazing to know that I saved so much, and its only getting better! Not to mention that I went outside and there was a table set up selling the city newspaper for half price, so now I get the sunday delivered! Rollin That’s how it starts. One great deal leads to another and the next thing you know, you can’t buy a thing unless you know you’re getting the best deal. Welcome to couponing. Taking printed coupons, eCoupons, and Catalinas into consideration, I bought all the items in the picture for $1.83!! I just love feeding my family for pennies on the dollar! http://savinginsheridan.blogspot.com Leah Since I can’t get the picture to load, here’s a list of what I bought: 2 Nature Valley granola bars 3 Fiber One granola bars 1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal 1 Cheerios cereal 1 Nature Valley granola clusters 1 Mission tortilla chips 1 Tide detergent 1 Pillsbury Sweet Moments refrigerated dessert 2 18-ct. Lucerne eggs 1 Dannon Dan-o-nino yogurt pack 1 package pork loin ribs 1 bag of black seedless grapes 4 Betty Crocker Fruit Rollups 2 Sobe Lifewaters Alexis I’m on such a couponing high right now! Everything in the picture cost me under $6, but that’s not the best part! When I was done with both transactions – there was a stack of coupons left out that the cashier said he must have forgotten to put away. So I left Safeway having paid $12 after 2 transactions. On my way home – I found out that he didn’t use 7 of my coupons after all! So I got upset and felt defeated because I’m ZERO confrontational, and then I decided to channel my inner Krazy Coupon Lady and I headed back to the store (with a sleeping baby in his carrier) and I made the cashier pull out all of my coupons and check them off on the receipts. After all was said and done – he owed me $6.55 in coupons! I felt so empowered! Isn’t that funny!? Stephanie Good for you Alexis! I can totally relate to the being non-confrontational, but 6.55 it was worth the confrontation. Michelle Safeway is HOT this week! In 7 transactions I got: 17 boxes NV Granola bars 5 boxes NV Trail mix bars 6 bags NV Nut Clusters 12 boxes BC Fruit roll ups 2 boxes Cinnamon Toast Crunch 2 boxes Cheerios 1 gallon milk Total before: $151.50 Total after club card, coupons, ecoupons, and CATS rolled= $7.90..AND $5 in CATS to use on my next purchase= $2.90!!! Savings of 98%..WOOT WOOT!! TaraL Do you have to have more than one Safeway card and have seperate accounts on cellfire to upload ecoupons to do what you did? How does that work? rhea ok realy? I need some help here. i thought i knew what i was doing until i read posts like this. Please help me? I was wondering how you tell which e-coupons have been used? I got onto cell fire and it showed them all still there… Rollin That’s great. I love shopping at Safeway now that I’ve met these ladies. Keep in mind Safeway has coupon doublers. Any manufacture coupon up to $.50 can be doubled. Any over $.50 you can add $.50 to. You can double up to four per transaction. Most folks think “that’s too much trouble and too many transactions. But think about it. If it took you another 30 minutes to plan your trip with doubling and an extra 30 minutes to shop to save an additional $45.00 you just made $45.00 an hour for grocery shopping. Most of my friends call me crazy and fanatic and say that they don’t have the time to clip coupons. After the cost of paper, ink, Sunday papers, etc. I average $12.00 per hour shopping for my family. That’s tax free and grocery goodies that we would have never otherwise been able to afford. Say-La-Vee Winco. Thank you KCL’s! Rollin karensa Awesome! Thanks for the tip ) I have become quite the coupon fanatic, it’s definitely worth it to save the money, especially considering what I used to pay monthly for groceries! Total savings 98.4% Thank you KCL’s so so much. You ladies deserve the worlds biggest Christmas card for sure. Sheila I’m glad for you, but I don’t understand. You used 6 mfr coupons for $1/5. That means that you would have had to purchase 30 pizzas to be able to use all of those, right?. Even if they counted the target coupons as store coupons, you would have 4 $1/5 which means you would have had to buy 20 pizzas (same thing on the Pizza Rolls). Am I missing something here? Rollin You’re missing something. Item #23-25 of the Safeway coupon policy. Revised 08/11/2010. Coupon stacking restrictions apply to Hawaii residents only. Rollin Well I just had an interesting trip(s) to Safeway. Transaction #1 6 Motts Apple Juice @ $2.00 ea. 4 Rice Krispy Treats @ Free WYB 3 Juices - 3 MC’s $2/2 MDA Make a Muscle, Make a Difference - Double Coupons @ .50 ea. - 1 $3 OYNO OOP $1.49 / .15 per item On this trip the rice krispy treats did not ring up free. After two cashiers the store manger took over and he himself could not figure out the problem. He finally did an over ride on everything and I ended up paying the $1.49 excactly as planned. Transaction #2 3 V8 Fusions @ $2.99 ea. 2 Rice Krispy Treats @ Free WYB 3 Juices - 1 IP – Campbells.com $1/2 - 2 IP’s – tryV8.com @ $1/1 - 3 Double coupons @ .50 ea. OOP 4.49 / .90 per item When I went back to the store (I live close enough to walk) I took my items to the service desk this time. I explained what happened before and the store manager came to help. Again the Rice Krispy Treats did not ring up free. The manager did his over ride. Then when the second set of coupons would not scan he said I was not allowed to stack. Thank you KCL’s for warning us to take the store coupon policy with us. I pulled out the policy, read the line on stacking and then showed him where that policy only applied to Hawaii residents. He pushed the other coupons through and I payed what I planned. Thank you Steve for being professional. Steve then asked me not to run anymore juice/treat transactions for the rest of the day so that he could fix the problem. Fair enough The moral of my story: Keep your transactions as small as necessary to follow the money and keep your store coupon policy with you every time you go coupon shopping. You just never know what your trip is going to bring. Thank you KCL’s, You ladies changed my life and I love you for it Rollin I just had to take advantage of the Almond Breeze Catalina promotion today. Here’s how it went. Transaction #1 1 Almond Breeze milk $2.99 1 box HN Cheerios 1.99 - .55/1 EC Cellfire.com - .55/1 MC Smartsource.com - $2/1 Store coupon - 1.50 OYNO OOP $0.38 Received $3.00 OYNO Catalina $2.62 money maker Transaction #2 1 Almond Breeze milk $2.99 1 box Lucky Charms 1.99 - .55/1 EC Cellfire.com - .55/1 MC Smartsource.com - 1.05 store coupon OOP $2.83 Received $3.00 OYNO Catalina $0.17 money maker I will use the two Catalina’s tomorrow when I get 13 bottles of Kraft salad dressing and one 12ct bath tissue for only 99 cants See ya tomorrow! Thank you KCL’s. Catherine Yes, i did go to Safeway today and saved $112 on a whole bunch of groceries, paying $32 OOP, thanks in no small part to you wonderful gals at KCL. But what i really want to brag about, is that i feel like i am finally part of the “club”, because for the first time i had a lady behind me yell at me for taking so long with all my coupons! She literally threw all her items back into her cart after placing them on up on the counter and yelled at me that i should have told her i had “100 coupons”. The two checkers who were behind the counter at the time just rolled their eyes at her when she stomped away. She made quite the spectacle of herself and it was oddly rewarding for me to see her react that way. The other thing i want to brag about is another quite different but very rewarding aspect of couponing. Last weekend, i was able to drive to Boulder, CO, less than an hour from where i live, and take boxes of “new hygiene items” (that were specifically requested) to donate to the thousand or more folks that had lost their homes to the fire that destroyed 166 homes in the area last week. I depleted my stockpiles, but have never felt so good about doing it. I knew those people needed this stuff so much more than i did, and i knew more free (and drastically reduced) toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, deodorant, etc. etc. was just around the corner for me. Thank you so much for all you do! Michelle Awesome trip to Safeway today!! I am fed up with the constant changes to the coupon policy but they are the only grocery store for 15 miles. Therefor I have to get really creative to win at their game. I live only a couple of blocks from Safeway now so I can do many short trips. These short trips allow me to get almost everything on my list using the coupon doublers in each transaction. There are even times when, instead of walking home or taking my groceries to the car between transactions, I will just stay in the store. I simply shop my first transaction, bag it, stick it in my cart and go around for trip #2, repeat. It’s their game. I’m just playing to win! With Safeway you have to be really flexible with your strategy. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
