Walgreens, How I Roll!

What I needed, paper goods. Bought enough Freebies to go to the cost of “need”.

Bought 1 Vitamin Water Energy drink 11.5 oz, reg price $2.29, sale price $1.50, no coupons used, received $1.49 Register Reward (RR). (RR should’ve been $1.50, but mine came out $1.49)

When I do many transactions, I go to the cosmetic or photo counter, the cashiers understand and prefer you to go to those counters rather than create a backed up line in the regular check out lanes.

Total OOP: $1.50 x 8 = $12.00
Total value of RR $1.49 x 8 = $11.92

Trans #9 “Need & filler items”

bought 1 Smile & Save toilet paper 16 ct, reg price $4.99, used $1/1×1 Walgreens Savings Book Coupon (WSBQ).
Bought 1 Cottenelle toilet paper 12 ct, reg price $4.99, used $0.50/1×1 MQ, AND used $1/1×1 WSBQ.
Bought 1 Scott Natural paper towel 6ct, reg price $4.99, used$0.75/1×1 MQ, AND used $1/1×1 WSBQ.

Total: 3.99 + 3.49 + 3.24 = $10.72 for “need” Quick math: take “need” cost, divided by value of RR, = # of Freeby (RR) items to purchase, round # up to next whole #. $10.72 / $1.49 = 7.19 round up =8 items. Next I take total value of RR and subtract the “need” cost to see what total value of filler items should be. $11.92 – $10.72 = $1.20 to spend on filler items. Now to figure out how many filler items I need. I add up all the coupons and RR I will use to pay. 5 coupons + 8 RR = 13 methods of payment. Means I need at least 13 items to purchase. I have “3” items in my “need” purchase, so I know I have to have 10 filler items. $1.20 unused of the RR divided by 10 filler items, means look for items 12 cents each and this would be even. But I choose 7 Paper Mate mechanical pencils 5 ct, reg price $1.99, sale price $0.29 AND 3 Indec Cards 100ct, reg price $1.29, sale price $0.29.

Total cost of filler items $0.29 x 10 = $2.90.
Total Cost: “Need” 10.72 + “filler” $2.90 = $13.62. $13.62 – 11.92 RR = $1.70
Out Of Pocket (OOP) OOP Trans 1 – 8 was $12.00
and Trans 9 was $1.70.
So TOTAL OOP = $13.70
