Trip was a moneymaker, until i had to cover the overage!
(If you just want to know the transactions, feel free to skip the first two paragraphs. But as none of the people I know enjoy hearing about my couponing experience, I choose to share it every so often in my brags! lol)
Ever since I found out that the Kroger I live by doubles coupons up to $1.00 I have become obsessed. Probably not a great thing, because I stop by the store every time i am out lol. But I am determined to take advantage of Krogers doubling up to a dollar while i can, because I know they will change it soon!
So I had planned out everything I wanted to get, and i figured I would be paying tax, so i was very excited at the end when she was explaining my options to me about the fact I have a $1.11 overage. (I’ve only been couponing for about 3 months, so I feel like I have a good enough understanding of the system, but every so often something new comes along) So i didn’t want to hold up a line or anything so i grabbed altoids because it was the closest thing to the price. so i ended up paying 0.18 but thats not bad. I mostly used this trip to figure out how doubling coupons works when you go over the price of the item you are purchasing. for instance if butter is on sale for $1.50 and i have a $1.00 coupon, I wanted to know if it doubled to $2.00, $1.50, or adjusted to the price of the item to prevent overage. I am very pleased with what I learned!
Dove Ice Cream Bars 3count: (Originally $3.79 -which i think is absurd!) on sale for $2.99 Used (1) $1/1 which doubled. Paid $0.99
3 Smart Balance Butter : Price $1.50 each; Used (3) $1/1 -kind of doubled(?), coupon adjusted to $1.50- Free
2 Suave Hair Products: Price: $0.94 Used (2) $1/1 which doubled (to $2/1) making it a $2.12 MM…
(can someone explain that to me? Was it a mistake on the cashiers part? Or did that double because it was a “health care” item, rather than a “grocery” item? not that i’m complaining! lol. It just doesn’t make much sense)
1 Box of Fruity Pebbles: Price: $2.00 Used (1) $1/1 which doubled. free
2 Crest Toothpaste: Price: $1.00 Used (2) $0.50/1 which Doubled. free
Total Without Coupons (for Intentional Purchases): $13.37 After Coupons: Overage of $1.11
After adding Altoids to cover overage: Paid $0.18
