I look at it this way: coupons are like using cash to pay for your items – so you would still pay tax if you used cash.

I am surprised by the places where the tax is post coupons. Sales tax is still due to the state on the original amount…coupons do not reduce the sales price of the object, only the amount you have to pay.Good luck to all!

I just started couponing not too long ago and I too just realized how much tax sucks. I was at walgreens the other day and bought stuff amounting to $56….well after the coupons my subtotal was $11 which sounded awesome but after being charged $5 for tax my total became $16 which just didnt sound great anymore!

I just have to say I looooove TAX-FREE New Hampshire Don’t meant to rub it in (ok maybe a little), but we’re allowed to brag on savings right?

Glad I’m not the only Californian feeling the pain for taxing before coupons. Oh well got to live with it! Thank goodness for coupons because we need to save somewhere!

Hi Everyone! thank you for listening to me vent about my disappointing Target trip. I used all my Target $1 printable coupons on a previous trip–this was me going back for seconds (hehe). I never knew other stores did this besides Target and I will pay more attention from now on!

A quick heads up: Rite Aid will be having the Purex Crystals BOGO the week of 4/15 or 4/17 depending on where you live. My Rite Aid sells these for $5.99. If you have extra coupons saved this would be a good time to use 2 of them to get them at $0.99 each (if your store “plays” nice about taxes). I love the thrill of the “hunt” (LOL)
