14 Receipt Apps That Reward You for Everyday Shopping

The Krazy Coupon Lady is an independent service supported by advertising. Most of the offers appearing on our site are from companies from which we receive compensation. We may receive a small payment from an affiliate if you click a link to purchase a product. Sometimes a post is sponsored by the maker of the product, and we receive a fee for the post. Learn More.

Spending money is much more enjoyable when you get rewarded for it, which is why I always use receipt apps when I’m out shopping. Receipt-scanning apps are pretty straightforward, which keeps things easy. You scan receipts for points or rewards and then redeem them for online gift cards, actual cash, or other perks.

You can double-dip with most of these receipt apps, and you can also use manufacturer coupons, too. There are a couple of exceptions, but don’t worry. I’ll let you know which ones have restrictions.

Download The Krazy Coupon Lady app for more money-saving tips, deals, and coupons.

1. Use Ibotta to link loyalty accounts or scan receipts.

You can link store loyalty cards to Ibotta, which means you don’t have to scan your receipt at all. You totally can, but it’s not required if your loyalty accounts are linked.

If you’re using a linked store loyalty account, make sure you select Ibotta offers in the Ibotta app before you shop — otherwise they won’t get applied.

If you choose to scan your receipt instead, it’s the usual drill. Shop, tap the products in Ibotta that match what you bought, then scan your receipt. Done.

You can cash out through PayPal, direct deposit, or a gift card.

TIP: Our Ibotta coupons page is great for keeping up with the latest offers.

2. Earn digital gift cards with ANY receipt through Fetch Rewards.

Fetch Rewards allows you to rack up points by scanning literally any receipt into the Fetch app. Any store. Whether the receipt’s paper or digital, Fetch will reward you with 25 points per receipt.

You can also earn rewards points for buying specific brand-name products — particularly from the grocery section. There’s a referral bonus when you convert your friends into Fetch users, too.

You can redeem Fetch rewards points for gift cards starting at 3,000 points. Every 1,000 points equals $1, so you can start claiming gift cards in denominations of $3 or more.

3. Get freebies as a new member with TopCashback.

TopCashback pays you for purchases made online through select merchants.

TopCashback also offers freebies for new members — like Toastmaster kitchen appliances, mason jars, or Walmart toys. Offers vary, but we’ll always let you know about the newest ones on our TopCashback Deals page.

You can have as many TopCashback accounts per household as you want. If you’re an existing member, then tell your partner, mom, dad, roommate, or anyone else in your house to sign up to get more freebies.

Cash back is reflected on your TopCashback account within one week, but you can’t actually take the money out until the retailer’s return policy period is over. Once that happens, you can transfer your cash-back balance to your bank account or PayPal account.

Another option is to cash out via a Virtual Visa Prepaid Card or a gift card to Amazon, Walmart, Target, or Disney. A lot of times when you cash out with one of these methods, you’ll get an extra 5% bonus, too!

TIP: Before you read on, be sure to bookmark the KCL Freebie Deals page to stay informed about all the deals.

4. You don’t need to preload cash-back offers with the Coupons.com app.

Printed coupons held next to a cell phone displaying the Coupons.com app

The Coupons.com app doesn’t just have digital and printable coupons — it also has cash-back offers.

Same drill as receipt apps like Ibotta: you tap the offers and then scan your receipt — or you can link your store loyalty card. The only difference is that if you’re shopping with a store loyalty card, you still have time to apply offers after purchase with the Coupons.com app. Just upload your receipt to override the lack of preloaded offers on your store loyalty account.

Cashing out is super easy. There’s no minimum cash-out balance. If you want your $1 back immediately, just tap it in the app and it goes into your PayPal account.

5. Checkout51 gives you cash back regardless of where you shop.

Checkout51 works just like the other receipt apps: tap the offers and scan your receipt through the app.

But the offers aren’t store-specific. You can purchase them anywhere — unlike the other receipt apps where the offers are store-specific.

One of the best things about Checkout51 is their “Choose Your Own Offer,” which is typically $0.25 – $0.50 off an item. I like to use my offer for things like bananas, which I can usually find for under $0.25. When I choose my own offer on Checkout51, I can get them totally free.

Once your account balance reaches $20, you can cash out. Cashing out isn’t automatic when you hit $20, though. You’ll have to tell Checkout51 you want your money, whether that’s via PayPal, e-gift card, or mailed paper check.

TIP: Bummer alert! There are some manufacturer coupons you just can’t stack with Checkout51. While some will work, be prepared to use one or the other.

6. Get in-store cash-back offers with the Rakuten app.

A person holding an iPhone displaying the Rakuten app home screen.

Yes, you can get cash back with Rakuten for both online shopping and in-store purchases. We’ve covered how to get cash back when shopping online before. Today, let’s look into the in-store cash-back option.

While you’re shopping in a qualifying store, tap on the offer in the Rakuten app. The app will ask you to link your credit or debit card to the offer. Use that same card to pay for the item, and you get your cash back added to your Rakuten account.

It can take a few hours or days for your cash back to show up in your account, depending on when the store confirms your purchase. Rakuten sends you an email letting you know your cash back is in your account.

You can cash out once your account reaches at least $5. Payments come in a paper check or via your PayPal account once per quarter.

7. Skip scanning your receipt with the Drop app.

The Drop app is similar to Fetch Rewards in that you earn points and can redeem them for digital gift cards from Amazon, Target, etc. The minimum you need to earn to cash out is $25.

The difference is that with Drop, you link up your credit or debit card to the app and earn “Drop” points (1,000 points equals $1) for your qualifying purchases at partner stores — no scanning required afterward.

Just tap the offer, shop, and get rewarded. Plus, you’ll get 1,000 points per month just for having your card linked.

Other ways you can earn Drop points include shopping directly in the Drop app and playing in-app games.

8. Redeem your points for actual cash with the Dosh app.

Someone holding their phone displaying the Dosh app home screen

Dosh connects to your credit or debit card so you can earn points for shopping or dining out at thousands of retailers and restaurants. You download the app and link your credit card, debit card, or Venmo account.

Then you just shop or dine out as you normally would. If any place you buy something from is partnered with Dosh, you get cash back deposited automatically and immediately into your Dosh account.

You can cash out at $25. The best part is that you earn actual cash back for your purchases. Just tap your money and transfer it to your PayPal or Venmo, donate it to a charity, or move it to your bank account.

9. Get money just for walking in the store with the Shopkick app.

Unlike other receipt apps, you actually don’t have to scan receipts to earn money with Shopkick, but you’ll get more points (kicks) if you do. If you allow location services in the app, you can earn kicks just for walking into a store. You can also earn kicks for scanning a product in a store without even buying it.

If you’re shopping online, you can earn kicks that way, too. If you download the Shopkick app (iOS / Android), you can earn even more kicks by watching product videos.

Kicks don’t translate into cash money, but they can be redeemed for e-gift cards or PayPal credits. You can cash out for a $2 gift card with as little as 500 kicks. Shopkick is actually how I earned a free $25 Target gift card.

10. Get cash back when your friends shop with the Fluz app.

The Fluz app pays you to shop if you make a qualified gift card purchase through their app. When you check out at a participating store, you buy a digital gift card for that store through the Fluz app for the exact amount of your total. Then you pay with that digital gift card.

This earns you points which you redeem for — you guessed it — more gift cards. You can also redeem your points for cash back in your PayPal or bank account.

Here’s where Fluz gets interesting, though. Once you refer friends, you also earn cash back on their purchases. You’ll also get three vouchers for up to 35% cash back at various brands when you sign up through our link.

So get busy creating your own shopping network and make some money!

11. Take clear pictures to earn the most cash back with CoinOut.

Coinout app displayed on a cell phone.

With CoinOut, you’ll get a random reward between $0.01 — $0.15 per store receipt you upload. You can also earn rewards by shopping with select online merchants through the CoinOut app.

Deposit cash-back earnings to your bank account, or transfer them directly to your debit card or a gift card with no minimum balance requirement. Alternatively, you can cash out via PayPal, but you have to have a minimum of $25.

TIP: KCL reader Suzanne shared that taking a better quality image of your receipt can earn you more. It’s true, according to CoinOut, so make sure the receipt information is clear before submitting.

12. Earn $5 cash back over seven weeks with the ReceiptPal app.

You can earn points on receipts from any store under the sun with ReceiptPal. The more points you earn, the more “levels” you unlock. For example, you might get a $5 Amazon gift card on Level 1 but a $10 gift card on Level 2.

With ReceiptPal, you can earn points by:

  • Uploading a picture of your receipt.
  • Connecting your email address so ReceiptPal can scan your inbox for receipts.
  • Connecting your Amazon account so ReceiptPal can award points for Amazon purchases.

You can earn up to 500 points per week, though more often than not, the max is 300. Here’s how many points you need to earn to get a gift card:

  • 2,200 points for a $5 gift card
  • 4,000 points for a $10 gift card
  • 9,250 points for a $25 gift card
  • 17,250 points for a $50 gift card
  • 32,250 points for a $100 gift card

That makes every 100 points worth about $0.23 – $0.31.

You can submit as many receipts as you want each week. Extra receipts beyond your allowable point total earn you entries into sweepstakes. You’ll earn two sweeps entries for every receipt!

13. Earn money on fuel purchases with the TruNow app.

cellphone being held in front of gas pump with the TruNow app displayed

The TruNow rebate app is a little different because it focuses on gas stations — though you can also find cash-back deals for restaurants and other local businesses.

If you do need to fill up your tank, TruNow shows you where the cheapest gas is near you. Then they give you cash back after you fill up. All you have to do is scan your receipt.

You can use your rewards toward in-app purchases at local gas stations, restaurants, and other stores. This method gives you full value for your rewards balance.

You can technically cash out via PayPal — but you’ll only get half the value of your rewards. This means if you’ve earned $25, you’ll only receive $12.50 if you cash out through PayPal.

14. Receipt apps for healthy stuff? Stock up on produce with Makeena.

A person in a store with the Makeena app displayed on her phone

Makeena is the best for healthier grocery choices and offers a ton of rebate offers on produce.

Most of these offers are for organic items, but sometimes there are offers for produce that don’t specify “organic.”

Some Makeena offers are only available for the first 1,000 people who claim them, and you need to make your purchase before you can unlock an offer — so don’t dawdle in uploading your receipt. Earn 1,000 Makeena Exclusive Points (redeemable for $1 cash) when you use our referral link to sign up!

You can cash out through Venmo or PayPal when you earn at least $20.

TIP: KCL has a ton of other produce coupons if these just aren’t enough.
