Maybe you’re like me and millions of others who resolved to get in shape and burn off some of the extra weight we gained over the colder months.

Well, you’re in luck — especially if you have a Fitbit! I’ve discovered seven easy ways to earn extra money for doing what you were going to do anyway with your new activity tracker!

1. Earn 20 Walgreens Balance Rewards points for every mile you walk.

Steps-with-Balance-Rewards

Balance Rewards points are customer loyalty points good for discounts at Walgreens. Earn 250 points just for signing up with your Fitbit. If you don’t have a Fitbit, there are several health apps to choose from.

Check out all the ways to earn points with your fitness tracker:

  • Set first healthy goal: 250 points/1st goal
  • Achieve a healthy goal: 250 points
  • Link a device or app: 250 points/device or app
  • Walk, run or cycle: 20 points/mile
  • Exercise activities: 20 points/daily log
  • Weigh-in: 20 points/daily log
  • Blood pressure test: 20 points/daily log
  • Blood glucose test: 20 points/daily log
  • Quit smoking and tobacco with NRT: 20 points/daily log

Once you reach 40,000 points, you’ll get a $50 reward. While 40,000 points may seem like a lot, it’s easy to earn when you’re trying to get fit (and when you shop at Walgreens with coupons)!

2. Earn 1 watt for every 100 steps you take with Higi.

Higi stations are health monitoring stations found in grocery stores and pharmacies (like Albertsons, Publix and Rite Aid) all over America.

You’ll earn one watt for every 100 steps you take, redeemable for discounts and freebies on things like activewear and protein shakes. You can also participate in challenges with other users to earn entry into drawings for sweet prizes like a Google Home voice activated speaker or a Garmin vivosmart HR+. Simply sync your Fitbit with Higi for easy tracking, download the Higi app, or visit a Higi station to record your healthy activities.

Check in at your local higi Station and sync your fitness tracking apps and devices to earn watts. You can only earn 100 watts per day from station check ins:

  • One blood pressure test: 50 watts
  • One weight test: 50 watts
  • Full test (BP and weight): 100 watts

3. Get discounts at Dick’s Sporting Goods for reaching your step goal.

Sync your Fitbit with the MOVE fitness tracker function on the DICK’S Sporting Goods Mobile App. Earn 3 points every day you hit 10,000 steps or 3 miles — and get a $10 reward once you hit 300 points (that’s a million steps, people — get walking).

4. Win up to $10,000 for meeting your weight-loss goals with HealthyWage.

HealthyWage is a way to motivate yourself into losing weight by setting an amount of time you need to reach your goal and how much you want to bet on yourself each month. If you meet your goals, you win your share of the prize money.

Choose to set up a personal wager with yourself, with friends, or join one of the “challenges” with payouts up to $10,000! In order to join a challenge, it costs $25/month for three months. Prizes can vary wildly with the average winner pocketing a couple hundred bucks. Sync your Fitbit during registration for easy tracking.

5. Lose 4% of your weight and win cash in four weeks with DietBet.

DietBet is an online weight loss “game” — as they call it (some games are even sponsored by fitness celebrities such as Jillian Michaels) that are simply betting pools. The basic idea is that you join a “game” with others who are wanting to lose weight, you place a bet on yourself to complete your goal (as do the others) and the winners earn money. The amounts you can win vary according to how many people join in and what the pot totals.

For example, if five players all bet $20 and only you have met the 4% weight-loss goal at the end of four weeks, you get $100. If all five of you met the goal, you just get your money back. But, hey — you’ve lost 4% of your weight in four weeks!

Go to “Account Settings” to connect your Fitbit.

6. Get cash for running outside with Runister.

Download the Runister app for free and start earning money for your daily activities. For each mile you run outside (sorry, no treadmills), you’ll earn $0.08.

In order to receive money for your activities, you have to complete a set of questions related to your healthy lifestyle. The more questions you answer, the more rewarded runs you’ll have. Normally, for three questions, you get one rewarded activity.

Connect your PayPal account to your Runister app and withdraw your earnings once you reach the $5.00 minimum — or donate your money to a charity if you choose to do so.

7. Join StepBet to set step goals and win money.

StepBet is a fitness game where you bet on yourself to meet personal step goals each week. If you meet your goals, you win money! If you hit your goal for the entire game (usually six weeks long, although duration may vary), you split the earnings with other winners — which means you get your bet you placed back and then some.

The bet amount varies game to game but most bets are around $40. Note that the first week is a “warm-up week” where no one becomes disqualified. Here’s how you do it:

  • Join a new game and select your source of steps to be given your personalized step goals.
  • Place your bet to join the game.
  • Get to steppin’. Each week, you must hit four active days and two stretching days. If yo miss your weekly goal, you lose. Hit your goals each week, and split the total pot with the other winners in the group!

StepBet has a “No Lose Guarantee” so you’ll never lose money if you reach your goal — only if you don’t reach your goal.

8. Earn $50 just for walking through Achievement.

To get started, take Achievement’s Health Survey to share more about your background. Sync your Fitbit to the app and you’ll start earning points when you complete surveys, online research studies and additional healthy activities each day such as meditating, logging food or joining a challenge like Bike to Work Day.

From there, get cash for your points. It takes 125 steps to earn one point and you need 50,000 points to get a $50 check. Sounds nearly impossible right? Here’s how we see it — if you’re already using your Fitbit everyday anyways, there’s no harm in letting points accumulate even if it takes a few months.

9. Get gift cards, hotel rooms and more for cheap when you link your fitness tracker with AARP’s Rewards for Good.

If you’re an AARP member, connect your Fitbit to your Rewards for Good account to earn points that’ll go toward discounts on hotel rooms, Uber rides, gift cards, daily deals, local offers, auctions and more.
