Veteran’s Day happens every year on Nov. 11.

Veterans-Day

Veterans Day is Nov. 11 every year. In 2024, Veterans Day will be on Monday, Nov. 11. The day marks the end of fighting during World War I (often regarded as the war to end all wars) in the eleventh hour of the eleventh month in 1918. In 1938, the day became a national holiday. And, in 1954, President Eisenhower signed a bill proclaiming the holiday would be known as Veterans Day. The holiday is marked with national ceremonies, plus local parades, tributes, and more for those who serve.

When and where can I find Veterans Day freebies?

Each year the list of businesses offering free items or services to veterans and active military on Veterans Day grows. Typically these freebies are only offered on actual Veterans Day, Nov. 11. However, occasionally you’ll find a deal that extends the offer through a weekend. It’s important to pay attention to the hours a deal is being offered. For example, if it’s a restaurant, it may include a free breakfast. But if they only serve breakfast from 7 a.m. – 11 a.m., you’ll need to get the freebie within that window.
