If you’re on the hunt for the best deals at Costco’s right now, let me give you a peek at a few of the hottest deals you shouldn't miss in May. All of these in-store deals will be valid from May 15 - June 9, 2024.

The best part about shopping these deals at Costco is that no physical coupons are required. For a longer list of all the Costco sale prices available month, check out our Costco Coupon Book post.

Of course, you're going to need to shop these deals in store to get the lowest possible prices (that's one of our favorite Costco price hacks). Why? Because Costco online shopping is always more expensive than in-warehouse shopping, even for members. And their online shopping gets even more costly if you order same-day delivery, which gets handled behind-the-scenes through Instacart.

Once you've browsed the best Costco deals right now, check out another little-known perk: Costco Next. It’s an online shopping platform with additional deals, and it’s only for Costco members.

2. Chosen Foods Avocado Oil Spray, 2-Pack

This month, Costco is offering 32% off Chosen Foods Avocado Oil Spray, with a sale price of $8.79 for a two-pack. That brings Costco’s price down to $0.33/ounce, while Walmart sells the same Chosen Foods Avocado Oil Spray for $1.29/ounce.

Compared to Walmart’s price on Chosen Foods Avocado Oil Spray, Costco’s is 75% cheaper during this sale.

3. Nature Valley Protein Granola Bars, 30-Count

Score 31% off Nature Valley Protein Granola Bars from Costco this month. The 30-count box is $5 off and priced at just $10.99, compared to their regular price of $15.99.

The sale price per bar is $0.37 at Costco, and $0.86/bar at Walmart ー a $0.49/bar savings!

4. Cascade Platinum Plus Dishwasher Detergent Pods, 81-Count

Save an additional 22% on an 81-count pack of Cascade Platinum Plus dishwasher pods at Costco this month, bringing the price down to just $17.99, or $0.22/load.

For comparison, Walmart sells a 62-count pack for $22.94, or $0.37/load. So, you’ll save 40% with this Costco deal compared to the Walmart price.

5. Nestle Drumstick Ice Cream Sundaes, 16-Count

Treat yourself at Costco this month with 27% off Nestle Drumstick Ice Cream Sundaes. The 16-count variety pack box is marked down to $7.99, regularly priced at $10.99, which brings the cost down to $0.50/cone.

An 8-count box of the same variety cones sells for $7.48 at Walmart, or $0.94/cone. You’ll save 47% or $0.44/cone when you shop Costco instead of Walmart this month.

6. Dixie Paper Plates, 186-Count

Dixie Paper Plates are a summer BBQ staple, so now’s the time to get 20% off Costco’s 186-count pack for just $15.99, or $0.09/plate.

Walmart sells a 50-count pack of the same Dixie Paper Plates for $7.42, or $0.15/plate. You’ll save $0.06/plate when you shop Costco this month instead of Walmart.

7. Pantene Pro-V Multi-Tasker 10 Shampoo or Conditioner, 38.2 ounce

Walmart and Costco both sell this large bottle of Pantene Pro-V Multi-tasker 10 Shampoo or Conditioner. However, this month's Costco deal puts the price for each shampoo or conditioner at just $9.99, while Walmart’s bottle is still priced at $27.50.

You’ll pay just $0.26/ounce for Pantene Pro-V Shampoo or Conditioner at Costco, vs. $0.72/ounce at Walmart ー saving you 64% by shopping at Costco.

Great Deals You'll Always Find at Costco

Kirkland Maple Syrup held in front of pallet of maple syrup

8. Pure Organic Maple Syrup

Buying pure organic maple syrup is always going to be more expensive than standard syrup, no matter where you shop. But you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg for the organic stuff. Coupons for pure organic maple syrup are few and far between, making deals very rare.

Bottom line? No other competitor comes close to Costco’s prices for organic syrup, so I always buy my pure organic maple syrup there. It’s 44% cheaper than Walmart’s price on organic maple syrup.

9. Cooked Costco Chickens

You're getting a better price for your chicken at Costco compared to Walmart, and you’ll even pay a little less if you buy them cold ($3.99 at Costco).

Costco has made an effort to highly publicize their decision to keep chicken prices at $4.99, regardless of inflation. Costco has kept the price of their rotisserie chickens at $4.99 ever since 2009, even as competitor prices rise. The company even built a $450 million poultry complex in Nebraska to help keep their chicken prices so low.

  • Costco: Rotisserie Chicken, reg. price $4.99, or $1.66/pound

  • Walmart: Rotisserie Chicken, reg. price: $5.97, or $3.09/pound

10. Active Dry Yeast

I know what you’re thinking … who needs 32 ounces of yeast? When it’s 80% cheaper than what you can buy it for at Walmart, you can just keep it in the freezer to make it last longer ー up to six months!

Buying in bulk isn’t always the best option for everyone, but it’s definitely more cost-effective to go with Costco if you need a lot of yeast.

11. Pure Vanilla Extract

Costco sells Pure Vanilla Extract for almost 75% cheaper compared to Walmart’s price.

12. Bulk Spices

Spices are one of the best deals at Costco — I often buy ranch seasoning, steak seasoning, ground pepper, sea salt, and cinnamon at Costco for much cheaper than I can get at other stores.

I do frequently see low-value McCormick coupons (like for $0.50 off) that help bring Walmart’s prices down. But even still, the cost per ounce at Costco is much cheaper.

13. Nutella

Nutella is 27% cheaper at Costco compared to the next lowest retailer price we could find. And if your family eats Nutella like mine does … having a two-pack is worth it.

We do occasionally see Nutella coupons that can drop competitors’ prices even lower. But since we can’t use manufacturer coupons at Costco, sometimes we beat the Costco price by using our coupon at another retailer like Walmart.

14. Almond Butter

You can save $0.12 per ounce when you buy almond butter at Costco instead of Walmart. I’m picky about almond butter, but since I’m also picky about getting a good deal, I’ve searched all over for a brand that’s both reasonably priced and tastes good.

Since almond butter coupons are rare, I usually end up paying the regular price. But Costco has the best taste and best price, hands down.

15. Walnuts

Costco’s chopped walnuts are cheaper than Walmart’s chopped walnut options. Instead of dishing out more for the same thing, plan to save 60% when you buy your walnuts at Costco

16. Excedrin

If you’re someone who gets headaches often, you won’t get one when you see the price of Excedrin at Costco. You’ll save $0.03 per caplet when you purchase Excedrin from Costco compared to Walmart.

17. Half-Sheet Cake

Tell me where else you can get a half-sheet cake filled with delicious mousse for $24.99. Spoiler alert: You can’t!

Half-sheet cakes at Walmart start at $48.16, and IMHO don’t even come close to the delicious taste of Costco’s. The price per slice of a half-sheet cake from Walmart is nearly double the price of Costco's.

  • Costco: Half-sheet cake, serves 48, $24.99, cost per slice: $0.52

  • Walmart: Half-sheet cake, serves 48, $48.16, cost per slice: $1.00

18. Restaurant and Entertainment Gift Cards

I’m a huge advocate for buying discounted gift cards whenever possible. It’s probably the most overlooked money-saving strategy out there.

And Costco is one of my favorite places to snatch up future savings with discounted gift cards. Especially gift cards I can use for restaurants and gaming purchases. The savings get even sweeter during Costco holiday deals that come out around Black Friday and Cyber Money.

Expect to see $100 worth of gift cards for $79.99 (or cheaper) at Costco — that’s automatically a minimum of 20% savings.

19. Hot Dog Combo at Costco’s Food Court

The hot dog combo is for sure one of the best things to buy at Costco when we’re talking about bang for your buck.

Costco hasn’t raised the price of their all-beef hot dog and fountain drink combo in 30 years. And when you see how big the hot dog is, you’ll see how much value you’re getting!

  • Costco Hotdog and Soft Drink Combo: $1.50
