Have you ever been confused when I advise you to “price check” your items at Target to see whether they are participating in a Gift Card promo? Well, after seeing a great post by TotallyTarget, I thought I’d do a little pictorial to clear up any confusion. The only problem is, these handy ‘you-scan’ price scanners, found on endcaps at your Target store, are NOT always accurate. Sometimes, even when an item doesn’t acknowledge that it is participating in a gift card promo, you will still receive a gift card when purchasing! I have never found the inaccuracy the other way around: when an item says it’s participating, you can trust it (or argue it later :))
Here’s what the scanner will say when you scan a product that IS participating in a gift card promotion:

Some stores have older models of price scanners, shown below. These scanners will give you the price of the item, but will not tell you any other details.
