Extreme Couponing Tip: Inventory
Keeping track of what you have in your stockpile and what you’re running low on is an important part of Krazy Couponing!
In case you don’t have a photographic memory and can’t recall exactly what you have in what quantities, you probably want a little assistance. Below are some good methods:
- Spreadsheets: Creating your own spreadsheet of what items you have on hand is a great option. Remember to go in and update it every few days or at least once a week to keep current. We recommend keeping track of the number of unused/unopened packages.
- Phone Apps: Applications like My Pantry for Android let you add products and their quantities, keep track of expiration dates, or add an item to your shopping list when you’re running low. If you already use an app, which one works best for you?
- Handwritten: If electronics aren’t your thing, a plain handwritten list will do fine. We suggest keeping it in a small notebook (which are on sale now with Back to School!) so that you can take it with you to the store. Creating columns or writing in pencil can be helpful for when quantities change.
So what works for you? What do you recommend?
Extra! Extra! When you have more of a product than you will use before it expires, consider donating it to a local food bank/shelter/church or neighbors in need. An important tenet of Krazy Couponing is charity and using couponing to bless the lives of others!
