“My store has trouble interpreting their policy and enforcing it. Any advice?”
This can be a common and frustrating problem. The best way to help the store stay consistent and knowledgeable about their policy is to meet with the store’s head manager. Go over the policy with him or her and inquire about the training of employees. Often stores may be unaware of parts of their policy but are willing to learn and abide by them once they have the know-how. Always print out a copy of your store’s coupon policy and bring it with you ANY TIME you shop at the store. This should do the talking when you run into snags. If you’d like, you can also give a copy to each cashier or encourage the manager to have one at each register. You can even highlight in marker key points!
If there is a point not covered directly in the policy, it may be up to the regional offices or each location’s manager on how they interpret and deal with the situation. If you have talked with the manager or called corporate and have not received a direct answer, consider trying another cashier or shopping at a different location.
