If you're like me, the phrase "no coupon, no purchase" runs through my mind almost every time I shop. Now, with the recent booming business of reselling gift cards, there are even more ways to score some amazing deals. So throw out that phrase and get ready to extend your money saving strategies to…drum roll please…DISCOUNT GIFT CARDS!
Here are some Gift Card Resellers that allow you to buy gift cards at less than their face value:
The Gist of It: These companies resell gift cards at a discounted price, such as 10% off the face value of the gift card. These gift cards have values that range from $10.00 to $1000.00! More often than not, the dollar amount remaining on the gift card is a weird number. For example, an Anthropologie gift card that is being sold for $175.04 (this is what you will pay) will have a face value of $198.91 (this is how much you get on the card). That's a 12% discount!
They offer a variety of retailers:
- Old Navy
- Ann Taylor
- Babies R Us
- Bath and Body Works
- Payless Shoes
- Home Depot
You can also score deals on restaurant gift cards such as:
- Johnny Rockets
- Hard Rock Café
- Pizza Hut
- Red Robin
They even have high end stores like:
- Neiman Marcus
- Tiffany & Co
These are only SOME of the gift cards you can find. Just look through each site’s list of available gift cards. You can search alphabetically, by gift card value, or by category. Click on the one you want, place the order, and voila! It's that simple!
To add to my frugalness, I find a discount code, clearance rack, or advertised deal of the week to go on top of the card and purchase the items for an even greater discount! I once scored a Pier 1 Import gift card at 15% off the face value and used it in conjunction with a $10 off any $30 purchase store coupon to buy some wine glasses I had been eyeing. Now that's what I call stacking!
An added bonus: These same companies will BUY your unused gift cards. You know you have a few in your wallet…and here's your chance to sell them back for extra cash. When someone has gifted you (i.e. me) a Build-A-Bear gift card (I'm 30…it's the thought that counts), you can then turn around and sell that gift card. And the best part is the card can have any amount on it! It's really simple! Do keep in mind, you will not receive the full value of the card.
The Extras You Should Know About: The cards that are available are based on what's in their current stock. If you're looking for the coveted Rite Aid, CVS, or Walgreens gift cards, you can sign up to receive notices when they have those cards in stock. They also offer on-line gift card codes for the on-line shopper in all of us.
When you sign up, you can also opt in to receive emails. Throughout the year they offer additional percentages off their already discounted prices! I scored a Flowers.com gift card for 35% off with one of these promotions! And, of course ,you know I looked for a discount code on-line to pair it with. And to top it all off, all these companies offer FREE shipping! FREE!
So check out these sites now to see just how much you can save. I’ve personally used all of them and have never had an issue. They’re all reputable companies. So what are you waiting for? Christmas? I think not!
