Extreme Couponing Tip: Use Catalinas to Purchase Non-Coupon Items

Protein and produce can be the most expensive part of a Krazy Couponer’s bill, not too mention other items that commonly don’t have coupons (e.c. plastic wrap, maple syrup, or baking nuts). Bring down the shopping total of these products by utilizing Catalinas!

Catalina coupon machines, located at registers, dispense long receipt-like coupons that may be used on a future purchase.  Catalinas refer to the coupons themselves which may be either specific item coupons or for dollar amounts off a total purchase. When you get the latter, use these to pay for protein, fresh produce, and other non-coupon needs.

The same can apply to drugstore rewards: when there aren’t any sales that interest you before the expiration date, use the rewards for other needs such as bread, Sunday newspapers, or clearance buys. Do watch out for restrictions on Catalinas and rewards for items like liquid dairy, gift cards, stamps, alcohol, tobacco, or lottery.
