While little ghosts and goblins are trick-or-treating tonight, it’s a perfect time to clean out expired and unused coupons from your binder. Instead of throwing your unused coupons out, set them aside and donate them! Military families overseas can use coupons up to six months past their expiration date. This is a great way to spread the coupon love and show our service men and women how much we appreciate their devotion and sacrifice.
Divide your clipped, expired, or unneeded manufacturer coupons into two categories: food and non-food. Separate the coupons in plastic baggies and mail them to one of our volunteers who will get them overseas, taking care of postage and customs forms. Get more specifics and addresses, or learn how to adopt your own base here.
Want to help out some more? Check out this ingenious way to siphon off the excess candy and further help out our troops! Dentists and organizations all around the country gather together for a sweet way to make everyone smile with the Halloween Candy Buy Back Program! Dentists “buy” back Halloween candy from neighborhood kids, then send it to the troops overseas. The service men and women enjoy the candy and also love giving it out to the children in the communities they patrol. Extras are also greatly appreciated, from small stuffed animals, to handwritten letters, and small handmade scarves. Service members have said how the children, after receiving candy and stuffed animals, have given the soldiers information on where bombs and bad guys are hidden, thus saving the lives of our troops–a win-win situation for everyone! Check out if there’s a participating location near you.
