Many men in our lives love meat. They care not one whit what it does to their arteries, pants size or household frying pans. They’ll fire up a grill in sub-zero temperatures to char and gnaw on half-frozen bovine and swine! Sometimes we rage against it. On occasion, it is best to just embrace it and pick another battle.

Here’s one of those opportunities.

The Home Shopping Network — or HSN as it is known on the Internet — has an, ahem, meaty deal on a meatball cookbook (signed by the authors, no less) and two spice packets. The price? Just $9.95. I’m thinking that sounds like a pretty darn good gift! Because to men nothing says “I Love You” like recipes for giant hunks of spicy sausage and hamburger.

“The Meatball Shop Cookbook” is penned by experts Daniel Holzman and Michael “Meatball Mike” Chernow who run the appropriately named New York-based The Meatball Shop. Their homage to meatballs with its shockingly-original title normally retails for $24.95. So the HSN deal is a 60% price break.

And because we know how well men follow written instructions, the book has a ton of beautiful full-color photos. Of course, your guy may be a bit dismayed when he sees the recipe for “Mango Raisin Chutney” meatballs. Then YOU can chuckle. (But only to yourself. At least, that’s what the counselor would say.)
