Oldest in front. When adding items to your stockpile, make sure to put the oldest can, box, or package in the front and the newest in the back.
Date it. Write the expiration date in bold marker on the front of the package for easy reference. Remember that even personal care items like shampoo, deodorant, and makeup have Expiration and Best By dates.
Keep track. If you notice a product nearing its expiration date and you won’t be able to use it in time, donate to friends, neighbors, or a food bank. Check with your local food bank for expiration restrictions. For example, they may only accept products 3 months or more before their expiration date.
Careful buying. Keep in mind that when stockpiling, only buy as much as you will use or donate before the expiration date, even if the items are free.
