As a Krazy Coupon Lady, I absolutely hate paying full price for anything! For this reason, there are certain stores that I love to shop at because I know that I can always find a deal—and Kohl’s is always at the top of that list. Kohl’s is one of the few stores that often has multiple ways to save, and you can score some pretty sweet deals if you know where to look. Here are seven of the best tips to help you spend less and get more when shopping at Kohl’s:

1. Sign up for mobile sale alerts

Kohl’s is one of many stores that now offer text messages to notify you of upcoming sales. As a busy mom, I often have too much going on to keep up with all of the sales going on at my favorite stores. Now, Kohl’s will send you a text when there is a great sale happening so you won’t miss it. What’s even better is that they will send you a coupon for an additional 15 percent off when you sign up! If you’re worried that you’ll be bombarded with constant texts, don’t—Kohl’s only sends out five per month. You can sign up and get all of the details about their mobile sale alerts here.

2. Shop during Kohl’s Cash promos

My favorite time to shop at Kohl’s is definitely when they are running their Kohl’s Cash promos. During this promotion, for every $50 that you spend you will receive $10 in Kohl’s cash. You can earn Kohl’s cash by purchasing regular, sale and clearance merchandise in-store or online, but it does exclude gift cards. After the Kohl’s cash earning period has ended you will be able to redeem your cash (also online or in-store) for a select period of time, which is typically about 10 days. This is particularly a great time to shop at Kohl’s if you have been eyeing any pricey items. Last time Kohl’s had this promotion I only earned one $10 reward, but I made sure to redeem that reward for something on sale—and was able to snag two Hot Wheels 5-packs for a buck!

3. Shop the Gold Star Clearance racks

The clearance racks at Kohl’s are, without a doubt, some of the best in retail! Kohl’s always has clearance racks located throughout the store, and you will usually find at least one in each department. When you see those gold stars, you know you are in luck! You may have to dig a bit, but with savings up to 80 percent (or possibly more with coupons!) it is definitely worth it. In the past I’ve found men’s Polo Ralph Lauren sports coats marked down from $195 to $17, kids’ shoes as low as $6, and even Cars toys marked down to $2! The clearance racks are always my first stop when shopping at Kohl’s, and I always come home with at least one great find.

4. Open a Kohl’s charge card

Although I don’t often advocate credit cards, if you love shopping at Kohl’s, you may want to consider this one. Kohl’s charge card holders receive quite a few benefits, including extra discounts twelve—yes, twelve—times a year! These savings will be anywhere from 15 to 30 percent and can be used on sale and clearance items in addition to regular-priced merchandise. In addition to those monthly coupons, if you spend $600 or more each year on your card they will reward you with six pick-a-day savings or six additional coupons. You’ll also receive a coupon for 15 percent off when you open the card. Stack these coupons on top of your Kohl’s cash and you’ll be able to score some pretty smokin’ deals! Not only will you be raking in the constant coupons, but Kohl’s offers free shipping to card holders fairly often.

5. Special discounts for senior citizens

If you or someone in your family happens to be over the age of 60, then Wednesday should become your new shopping day! Kohl’s offers a 15 percent discount for those over 60 every Wednesday. This discount is good on regular-priced, sale and clearance merchandise. Even if you don’t qualify for this discount, let those folks over 60 that you do know in on this little tidbit and help them save a few bucks!

6. Check for rebates

Kohl’s often has great promos, clearance merchandise and sales, but you may be surprised to learn that they also offer rebates. Rebates are often available on a variety of items from kitchen equipment to mattresses to small electronics and more. A few months back I was in the market for a new set of pots and pans and found a good deal on a set at Kohl’s. Before I went to look at them in person, I decided to check out the current rebates and, lo and behold, my pots were on the list for a $10 mail-in rebate—turning my good deal into a great deal! You can check out current rebates as well as information on how to redeem them on Kohl’s website.

7. Sign up for Kohl’s rewards

Kohl’s has recently added a new rewards program to their already long list of perks. After signing up for the rewards program, you’ll earn one point for every dollar that you spend at Kohl’s. For every 100 points that you earn you will be sent a $5 reward. Not only that, but you will receive special savings offers throughout the year as well as a birthday offer. I’ve only been using the rewards program for a couple of months now, but I’ve already receive two $5 rewards, and I am anxiously awaiting my birthday surprise! You can sign up for the rewards program and find out more details here.
