What’s the Nielsen Consumer Panel?
Nielsen collects information about the products shoppers buy at the store every day. Manufacturers and retailers use that info to improve products (and prices). That saves us all money!
For example, NCP analysts might crunch the numbers to find out just how many packages of diapers mom and dad buy for baby in a week (answer: too many!)
How’s it work?
Nielsen sends panel members an easy-to-use handheld scanner. Scan bar codes during your weekly shopping trip and submit that information every week. You’ll earn points that can be redeemed for different rewards.
For every week you turn in purchase information, you’re entered into a monthly drawing for one of twenty-five $500 American Express Rewards Cards. Members can enter up to 4 times per month. Even better, every quarter one lucky panel member wins the $20,000 Grand Prix Prize.
The Nielsen Home Scan Panel has a 100% rating on Internet protection site Webutation, and 3 out of 5-stars from online survey watchdog Survey Police. The panel also nets an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
One caveat; reviewers say NCP Homescan requires a big time commitment to earn points. Likely, you’ll have to scan everything you buy in a week. Got a jam-packed schedule? This may not be the service for you.
