Typically, back-to-school deals begin right after the 4th of July. I went to Walmart today and scored a five-pack of Sharpie markers (regularly $3.97) and a two-count pack of Paper Mate mechanical pencils (regularly $3.97) for $1.00 each with a price match!

  • Before starting the transaction, tell the cashier you are doing a price match with Office Max. (A price match can only be done if the store with which you are price matching is located within 50 miles of your Walmart.)
  • Show the cashier a copy of the Office Max weekly ad featuring the Sharpie and Paper Mate deals with the sale price of $1.00.
  • Walmart will price match to $1.00 if it is the exact product and the exact size. In this case, pick up a five-count package of fine point style Sharpie markers and a two-count package of Paper Mate mechanical pencils.
  • Pay $1.00 for each item!

TIP: If you are price matching, make sure to have the current ad with the date on it ready to hand to the cashier BEFORE they ring up the item you are price matching. Often, the cashiers do have the ads available. However, it takes time to find the ad and the specific item.

Sharpie Markers:

Price Match to Office Max Price of $1.00 through 7/11 (see local store ad), Limit 3

Final Price: $1.00

Paper Mate Mechanical Pencils:

Price Match to Office Max Price of $1.00 through 7/11 (see local store ad), Limit 3

Final Price: $1.00

I also spotted some clearance items marked as low as $0.15. Check your local Walmart for clearance items, but remember that clearance will vary by location.
