Using coupons, I saved 63% on my shopping trip at Family Dollar this week.
I started out with an easy deal on Air Wick. I clipped a $1.50/1 digital Smart Coupon, which made an Air Wick Scented Oil Warmer just $0.25.
For the rest of my deals, I came prepared with newspaper coupons. I grabbed two boxes of Splenda Sweetener, since I had brought along a high-value, $4/2 coupon from the Feb. 21 SmartSource insert. Using the coupon made each box $0.75 each.
I had two copies of that Feb. 21 SS insert, so I decided to clip a $0.50/1 coupon for a Colgate toothbrush from each. Unlike most Colgate toothbrush coupons, this one doesn’t exclude $1 varieties, so I was able to get two Extra Clean Toothbrushes for $0.50 each.
In the shampoo aisle, I noticed there was a promotion on Suave hair care: spend $6 and receive a $2 Smart Coupon reward for your next purchase at checkout. Since the $6 total must be reached after all coupons are applied, I decided to use a couple of buy one get one free newspaper coupons to maximize my savings. I stocked up on four bottles of Suave Professionals for Natural Hair, which came to $10 total after the coupons. The $2 digital Smart Coupon was applied to my clipped coupons immediately after checkout, making my final price $2 per bottle.
After coupons and the $2 Smart Coupon reward, my final cost came to only $10.75.
