1. Clean a toilet.

The acids found in cola drinks break down stains just as well as regular bathroom cleaner.

Pour the soda around the inside of your toilet bowl and let it sit for at least an hour before scrubbing with a brush and flushing.

2. Get rid of blood and grease stains in fabric.

Cola contains carbonic and phosphoric acids that won’t harm you but will do some major stain-fighting action on fabrics with blood and grease. Add cola to your normal wash cycle for best results.

3. Make a cola fountain with Mentos.

Your kids are gonna love helping you with this!

Roll about 7 Mentos candy in a piece of paper, then drop all 7 at the same time into a 2-liter bottle of Diet Coke (since Diet Coke doesn’t have sugar, it’s easier to clean up), and watch the soda shoot up and out of the bottle.

4. Remove tarnish from old pennies.

Let Coke’s acidic qualities brighten up your old pennies.

Place pennies in a single layer in a dish, and pour just enough cola to cover the pennies. Let your coins sit for about 4-5 hours, flipping halfway for best results. Rinse pennies with warm water, then admire the shine!

5. Loosen stuck screws and bolts.

You’ll want to use full-calorie cola for this hack.

Simply pour some Coke onto a rusty, stuck screw, and bang on the screw slightly to help the soda do its job. Wait a minute or two before unscrewing.

6. Clean the grime off eyewear.

Pour cola over grimy glasses, rinse clean with water, and dry well with a soft cloth.

7. Clean burnt pans.

Got stubborn burnt food stains on your pans? Pour a bit of cola on the stain, and let it soak a few minutes before scrubbing with a sponge.

8. Soothe a wasp or hornet sting.

Wasps and hornets have alkaline venom, which should be treated with acidic remedies like white vinegar — or Coke. Bees and yellow jackets, on the other hand, have acidic venoms so you’ll need an alkaloid remedy like baking soda.

9. Tenderize steak.

Tenderize cheap cuts of meat with Coke. Really, it works! Just marinate for at least 30 minutes for more tender meat.

10. Remove oil stains on concrete.

Pour 1-2 cans of room-temperature cola onto concrete stains and let the soda sit overnight. Use old towels to blot the stain before rinsing off completely.

11. Get rid of slugs and snails in a garden.

Slugs and snails love cola, but cola’s acidic qualities will kill them and keep them out of your garden.
