1. Bow Tie Cinemas
Bow Tie Cinemas offers a free Kids Summer Film Series every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 AM. You can expect to see movies like Epic and The Croods. And the best part: admission is completely free for the entire family! Tickets are given on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to get to the theater early. Seating typically begins at 9 AM.
Cinemark offers select movies at a discounted rate (only $1 for admission!) throughout the summer months. You must purchase three or more tickets in order to qualify for the discount, so invite the neighborhood kids along if you need to! While you’re at the movies, don't forget to take advantage of the "Kiddie Combo" deal which features popcorn, a kid-sized drink and candy for around $5!
3. Harkins Theatres
At Harkins, kids and adults can enjoy one family-friendly film a week for 10 weeks for only $2 per movie! Or if you buy season tickets, it will reduce the price of each film to less than $1! I prefer the season tickets because it's cheaper and it guarantees that we get a seat! If you pay per movie, you have to buy your ticket at the box office, and it's always on a first-come, first-served basis.
4. Marcus Theatres
Head on over to your local Marcus Theatre to attend the Kids Dream Summer Film Series. Participating Marcus Theatres will offer $2 movies (such as Mr. Peabody and Despicable Me 2) every Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday from June 15th to August 13th. The theater also offers special prices on concession items; you can score a popcorn or fountain drink for only $2.50 each!
5. Megaplex Theatres
If you live in the Utah area, be sure to check out the Megaplex Theatre's Kids Summer Movies Program. The program offers 10 movies over a period of 10 weeks for only $10! You can expect to see movies like The Lego Movie and Turbo at these theaters. The program starts in June and ends in August. Check the website to see a complete list of movies at each participating location.
6. Regal Cinemas
Regal Cinemas offers the Summer Movie Express program where admission to certain movies (like Kung Fu Panda 2, Madagascar 2 and The Smurfs 2) is only $1! The program begins in June and ends in August. Movies start at 10 AM. My favorite part is that a portion of the proceeds from this summer program go to the Will Rogers Institute.
7. Showcase Cinemas
Showcase Cinemas offers a summer program called Bookworm Wednesdays every week from July 10th to August 7th. In order to get in free, kids who are 11 or under need to complete a book report form—yes, your kids will have to read a book and write a short report in order to get free admission. Kids younger than six (and all accompanying adults) get in free without having to complete a book report, and movies start at 10 AM!
8. Ultra Star Cinemas
Be sure to check out the Kids Summer Series at Ultra Star theaters! Every weekday starting at 9:30 AM, Ultra Star Cinemas will show a family-friendly movie (a different movie each day) at a discounted rate! Although prices may vary by location, I found admission to be around $0.50 per movie! This is my favorite theater to take my kids to over summer break because we aren't limited to certain days of the week—in fact, we can go to the movies every day of the week if we want!
