What is Target’s price match policy in-store?
When it comes to Target price matching, all you need to do is show proof of the lower price to the cashier at checkout. While standing in line, I always Google any high-priced items I’m buying, click on the links if the products are cheaper, and show the cashier my phone. They adjust the price immediately. No manager, no forms, no nothing.
You can also bring in a printed local ad and show it to the cashier if you’re into paperwork.
If you can’t find the price on your item in-store, do a Target price check at one of the stations located on various end caps, or scan the item with your Target app.
PRICE MATCHING TIP: If I’m shopping in the store, I also scan anything I want to buy in the Target app to see if the item is cheaper at Target.com. If it’s cheaper online at Target.com, I show the cashier the lower price and get it price matched.
What is Target.com’s price match policy for online shopping?
If you’re shopping online at Target.com and see a better price for the same exact item on another website, call 1 (800) 591-3869 or use the Target customer service chat. They’ll have you place the order and they’ll make sure you get the difference refunded to you.
Does Target price match Amazon?
Yes, Target will match the prices on Amazon. As long as your item is the exact same brand, size, weight, color, quantity, and model number. One caveat here is that the item must be sold and fulfilled by Amazon — you can’t claim price matching for items from third-party sellers.
Does Target price match Walmart?
They sure do! Same deal — the item from Walmart has to be exactly identical to get the price matched at Target, and can’t be from a third-party seller on Walmart.com. If it’s the same item and it’s fulfilled by Walmart, though, you’re good to go.

Absolutely. Target will price match identical items that are selling for cheaper at Best Buy.
Does Target price match Costco?
Yes. If you want the Target shopping experience with Costco prices, just claim price matching. On the one hand, this means you can save money on a Costco membership.
But on the other, sometimes you get Costco savings because items are sold in bulk. If Target doesn’t have the same giant-sized jar of peanut butter, you won’t be able to score the per unit savings since the Target item isn’t the same size and weight.

No, eBay is one online retailer that Target will not price match.

PRICE MATCHING TIP: If you’re in Alaska or Hawaii, Target won’t price match these competitor’s websites, so get ready to pull out those paper circulars. Everywhere else you should be set, though.
How long do I have to claim a price adjustment at Target?
An entire, glorious two weeks. If you buy something at Target and see it go on sale at Walmart, for example, within 14 days of your purchase, you can go back to Target’s customer service and show them the lower price. They’ll refund the difference back.

What is the Target holiday price match policy?
Every year, Target’s price match policy becomes the Target Holiday Price Match Guarantee from October through Christmas Eve. In 2023, the Holiday Price Match Guarantee is in effect from Oct. 22 through Dec. 24.
So, if you purchase something from Target in-store or online after Oct. 22, and the Target price drops on or before Dec. 24, you can ask for a price adjustment and Target will give you the lower price.
Does Target price match on Black Friday?
You bet. Target will price match with any competitor listed above for 14 days, even during Target’s Black Friday sales!
Does Target price match groceries?
Yes, Target will price-match grocery items, including produce. You will have to make sure that the item is the same size, weight, brand, etc.
But you’ll also have to make sure that if Target sells the item by the pound, the other store isn’t charging per item. For example, if green peppers are $1/each at Target, you won’t be able to price match green peppers sold for $1.46/pound at Walmart.
Another caveat to grocery price matching at Target is that if you are price matching per-pound items, you’ll have to make sure you’re shopping at a SuperTarget. Otherwise, it’s a no-go.
TIP: Target may price match your local grocer or other local retailers if they’re within 25 miles. This is totally at the manager’s discretion, though. So you can try, but you may or may not be successful.
Will coupons work when I price match?
Yes, but only for in-store purchases. First the price match will be applied. Then you can use the manufacturer coupon.
PRICE MATCHING TIP: If you’re using coupons issued directly by Target, you won’t be able to price match. But if the coupon is issued by the manufacturer, you can totally claim it.
Can I use Target Circle offers when I price match?
No. Sadly, you cannot combine Target Circle offers with the price-matching policy.
Will my RedCard 5% discount work when I price match?
Yes! Even after you’ve price-matched an item from a competitor, you can still use your Target RedCard to save an extra 5% on top of the price match.
Can I use price matching on out-of-stock items?
It depends. If you’re price matching from another retailer, you won’t be able to claim it if the item is out-of-stock at Target.
However, if you’re price matching a Target.com deal at an in-person Target location, then you will be able to claim the price adjustment if the item is out-of-stock online. If the item is out-of-stock online and in-store, you won’t be able to claim the price match. No rain checks in this scenario.
What items are excluded from Target’s price matching?
There are a few other price match exclusions you should keep in mind. Here are some things they won’t price match, ever:
- Alcohol (depending on the state).
- Clearance, damaged, closeout, or opened items.
- Pre-owned or refurbished items.
- Doorbuster or lightning sale items, including Amazon Prime or Fresh Exclusive Deals.
- Gift card offers.
- Contract mobile phone devices and plans.
- Optical products.
- Clinic and pharmacy purchases.
- Third-party marketplace sellers.

Are there limits on how many price matches I can claim?
No. Unlike Walmart, who only allows one price match a day online at Walmart.com (not in the physical store), there’s no limit at Target. Price match online or in store as many times as you want per day!
