The $10-and-below price point at Family Dollar is one of the reasons why so many shoppers flock to the store — especially to buy high-demand items like food, water, cleaning supplies, sanitizers, paper products, home goods, and over-the-counter cold and flu medicines.

Like every retailer carrying similar products, these items are flying off the shelves. Family Dollar has addressed these concerns in a letter regarding the coronavirus, and has a unique way of combatting the issue (read on below!).

As we all navigate through COVID-19 and its effects on our daily lives, the Krazy Coupon Lady will continue covering retailers like Family Dollar to ensure shoppers still get the lowest prices while staying safe. To answer any questions you may have, here are some helpful tips for shopping Family Dollar during the coronavirus pandemic:

Family Dollar hours

As of March 18, Family Dollar stores will remain open, but close early at 8 p.m. This gives employees ample time to exercise new cleaning protocols and restock shelves as best they can. You can check any updates to your local Family Dollar hours online.

Senior shopping hours

The first operational hour each day is dedicated to seniors, at-risk, and pregnant customers.

Family Dollar supply and shopping limits

Limits are in place for high-demand products. You will find signage explaining amounts you may purchase near the applicable items. As supply is unpredictable and continues to change, these limitations may change as well. That’s why there isn’t a set limit company-wide; rather, each store bases their limitations on inventory levels.

Supply restocks

Restocks happen on a regular basis. To ensure customers have as much access to essentials as possible, the company has temporarily ceased online ordering to redirect all inventory into stores. This is a process unique to Family Dollar, as we have yet to find another retailer responding with this technique.

Returns

As of March 27, a new return policy has been issued. For the safety of both employees and customers, all returns and exchanges are temporarily suspended.

As a caveat to this new rule, if you purchased an item and realized it’s past its expiration date, stores will honor a refund within 30 days of purchase.

Family Dollar pickup and delivery

Pickup

Store pickup is not currently a service Family Dollar provides.

Delivery

Online orders placed for delivery are temporarily disabled. While this means you must physically go into a store, the hopes are that more in-demand items are available when you need them.
