If you’re planning to shop Kohl’s Black Friday in 2024, then you’ll definitely want to start here. Typically their main event sale starts on the Sunday before Black Friday, with Super Deals (we’re talking seriously major markdowns) happening on Thanksgiving day (online) and Black Friday (both in-store and online).
In fact, in 2023 Kohl’s incentivized customers to shop IRL on Black Friday with a one-day-only, in-store sweepstakes. The first 200 customers at each Kohl’s store location received a peel-off game piece featuring a mystery prize, like $5 Kohl’s Cash or a Lego gift valued at $5,000 (yep, three zeros after that 5!).

When will Kohl’s Black Friday 2024 start?
Looking at previous dates, Kohl’s Black Friday sale kicked off on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023 and ran through Nov. 24, 2024 (which was the actual date of Black Friday). However, they typically have four different events that boast different deals.
With that in mind, we predict Kohl’s Black Friday sale in 2024 will start on Sunday, Nov. 24 and go through Friday, Nov. 29.
In 2023, Kohl’s hosted an in-store sweepstakes — the first 200 customers received a game piece with prizes like $5 Kohl’s Cash and a grand prize package of Lego sets valued at $5,000.
Once upon a time, before the interwebs, there was only in-store shopping. And while we heavily lean into our modern-day online shopping capabilities, stores want to get your butt into the actual brick-and-mortar locations, too. Kohl’s hosted a one-day-only Yay for Black Friday! sweepstakes on Friday, Nov. 24. The first 200 customers at each Kohl’s location across the U.S. received a mystery game piece. Each game piece was a winner, but prizes varied widely. There was no purchase necessary to play.
If you were fortunate enough to snag one of these game pieces, all you had to do was peel back the specified area on it and your prize was revealed. Now if it’s something like Kohl’s Cash (which it most likely will be), you could redeem it right there in store that day. But if it’s a physical prize like that sweet, sweet $5,000 worth of Lego sets, you had to claim it online (there’s a specific website you’re directed to on the game piece).
Kohl’s distributed 235,000 of these game pieces to their stores across the country, and the prize breakdown lent itself heavily towards $5 in Kohl’s Cash.
When will the Kohl’s Black Friday ad drop in 2024?
Without a crystal ball, it’s hard to say for sure. In 2023, the Kohl’s Black Friday ad dropped on Friday, Nov. 3. With this in mind, we’re eyeing Friday, Nov. 1, 2024 for their next Black Friday ad drop. Or, since Thanksgiving is late in 2024, perhaps it could drop on Friday, Nov. 8. Stay tuned…
Is Kohl’s closed on Thanksgiving?
Yep, Kohl’s is closed on Thanksgiving. If you love going into the store, you can do it on Black Friday. Store open at 5 am on Nov. 24. If you hate going into the store, you don’t have to — all Kohl’s Black Friday deals are available online.
Kohl’s “Doorbusters” are now Kohl’s “Super Deals”.
Historically, “doorbusters” have been insanely hot deals that retailers offer only to people who stood in line at the store on Black Friday. The term has slowly evolved to mean simply “insanely hot deals.” (No store visit is required in almost every case.) And this way you can shop still shop on Thanksgiving without Kohl’s employees schlepping into work away from their loved ones.
In 2023 some of the Kohl’s Super Deals only available on Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24 included:
- Earn $15 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent, was redeemable Nov. 25 – Dec. 6, 2023.
- Beats Studio Buds True Wireless Noise-Canceling Earbuds, $89.99 (reg. $149.99) — 40% off
- Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Mini Brands collectivles, $4.99 each (reg. $10.99) — 54.6% off
- 7-ft. Pre-Lit Christmas Trees, $67.99 (reg. $199.99) — 66% off
Spend $25 or more and get Kohl’s free shipping.
In past years, Kohl’s has offered a lower free-shipping threshold during Black Friday. Right now the free shipping minimum is $49.
If you have a smaller purchase, opt for free store pickup instead.
Can you use coupons at Kohl’s during Black Friday?
The short answer is: yes. Kohl’s always offers a promo code for 15% off your purchase, but a few brands are excluded (like Crocs, Draper James, and KitchenAid). In 2023 we used code GOSHOP15 to get 15% off our purchases online.
You’ll likely be able to get $15 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend on Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Usually it’s just $10 Kohl’s Cash earned for every $50 spent.
Shoppers received $15 in Kohl’s Cash every time they spent $50 on Nov. 23 and 24 in 2023. In the days prior you only earned $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent. It was a real opportunity to rack up Kohl’s Cash for other purchases in the future.
The $10 in Kohl’s Cash per $50 spent is the typical amount you’ll see during these promo events. But when they bump it up by 50% with the $15 in Kohl’s Cash per $50 spent, a single big-ticket item can net you a lot of Kohl’s Cash.
Spend your Black Friday Kohl’s Cash during Kohl’s Cyber Monday.
The Kohl’s Cash you earn on Thanksgiving and Black Friday won’t be usable until Cyber Monday. But the good news? It’ll be usable on Cyber Monday! So unless you see a killer deal on something you’ve been eyeing for a while, wait to shop Kohl’s again until Cyber Monday when you can use your Kohl’s Cash.
Look for game consoles, cameras, or KitchenAid mixers during Black Friday. Then shop when your Kohl’s Cash is active to create your own sales on items that aren’t marked down as low.
When you consider the Kohl’s Cash you’re earning on top of Kohl’s Black Friday savings, it starts looking like Kohl’s could have the best prices on half the things on your list.
When does Kohl’s Cyber Monday start?
Despite its name, Cyber Monday, Kohl’s usually kicks off their Cyber Monday sale the day after Black Friday. So, for the next event that could mean it starts on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024. Kohl’s shoppers tend to have three days to shop these deals, which end would end on Monday, Dec. 2, if our prediction is correct.
Kohl’s cardholders get deeper discounts and rewards members get an exclusive offer.
If you’re a Kohl’s credit card holder, you can absolutely use valid 15%, 20%, and 30% off coupons you receive every month during Black Friday. If you’re not a card member and want to be, you’ll get a code for 35% off when you sign up. Use this on your holiday shopping.
Not into the credit card thing? Join Kohl’s Rewards. It’s free and during Black Friday, there’s normally a member exclusive offer, like $10 off a $50 home purchase. Plus, you’ll earn 5% back on every purchase you make.

Make sure you’re on Kohl’s email list by mid-November. In years past, we’ve seen a “$5 off a $5 purchase” Black Friday coupon, plus a mystery coupon for Kohl’s Cyber Monday.

Keep in mind that Kohl’s Cash is calculated on the price after coupons have been applied (but before tax is applied — thanks, Kohl’s). If your goal is to rack up as much Kohl’s Cash as possible, then save your coupons for the second trip (the one where you’re spending the Kohl’s Cash).
Use the Kohl’s app to find rebate deals and save up to 90%. You’ll get Kohl’s Cash, too!
Sometimes Kohl’s offers mail-in-rebate deals that you can stack on top of their Black Friday sales. These aren’t always available, but when they are, you stand to save loads of cash.
The easiest way to find these rebates is to download the Kohl’s app and type “rebates” into the search bar. The Kohl’s app will pull up all current rebates.
Last year we saw $12 mail-in rebates for Toastmaster appliances that actually had us making money off the deal. Well, at least money in Kohl’s Cash.
Many kitchen appliances that are regularly $24.99 will be available for just a couple of dollars after you apply the 15% off coupon and $12 mail-in rebate.
Be sure to check the limits for rebates, too. Usually, there’s a limit of five of the same item per household, but sometimes it’s only two.
Shop Fitbit during Kohl’s Black Friday, not Target.
Frequent readers know that I love shouting out Target RedCard deals. That remains true. But when you factor in Kohl’s Cash rewards, Kohl’s beats Target on Fitbit deals. Keep in mind, however, Kohl’s coupons do not apply on Fitbit. In 2023 Kohl’s Black Friday had the following Fitbit deals:
- Fitbit Inspire 3 Health and Fitness Tracker, $69.99 (reg. $99.99) — 30% off (but you’ll earn $10 in Kohl’s Cash)
- Fitbit Charge 6 Fitness Tracker, $99.99 (reg. $159.99) — 37.5% off (but you’ll earn $20 in Kohl’s Cash)
Save $200 on Shark vacuums during Black Friday 2023.
During Black Friday, Kohl’s notoriously discounts their upright Shark vacuums by 40% – 50% off the regular price. In 2023, coupons did not apply on Shark as they had in years past. However, there were Shark models on sale during Kohl’s Black Friday with savings up to $200. Plus you had the ability to earn. up to $60 in Kohl’s Cash and $5 in Kohl’s Rewards depending on which model you buy.
Save $0.30 per bath towel when you shop Kohl’s instead of Macy’s.
Towels are a great thing to buy at Kohl’s after you’ve already earned your Kohl’s Cash, and during Black Friday, they’re super cheap.
Kohl’s offered The Big One bath towels for as low as $3.39 in 2023 after taking the 15% off with promo code. Additionally you’ll earn Kohl’s Cash on these purchases when you spend at least $50.

But don’t buy bedding sets at Kohl’s — buy them at Macy’s instead.
Macy’s Black Friday deals on multi-piece bedding sets really can’t be beat, not even by Kohl’s.
Both stores offer steep savings on bedding during Black Friday sales, but Macy’s usually takes the lead with 3-piece comforter sets for $19.99. For the record, the Kohl’s 3-pc. comforter sets are priced at $29.99 for Black Friday (so $25.49 after the 15% discount).
The only exception to this would be if you have Kohl’s Cash to spend and can bring the price of Macy’s bedding down so it’s less than what Macy’s offers. Let your Kohl’s Cash be your guide.
Opt for in-store pick-up to avoid shipping fees.
If your order doesn’t hit the free shipping threshold and you have a Kohl’s nearby, opt for the free in-store pickup. Sometimes when you pick up in-store, you’ll even get an extra $5 Kohl’s Cash. I love free money.
Return your Amazon purchases to Kohl’s and earn $5 in Kohl’s Cash.
Remember this when you’re bringing returns to 8 million different stores: You can consolidate your Kohl’s and Amazon returns into one trip by bringing them all to Kohl’s. That means you can easily return your Kohl’s purchases just like always, and then also return Amazon items through a fairly simple process.
Start your return process through Amazon’s returns page, and select the Kohl’s drop-off option. From there you’ll be emailed a QR code, which Kohl’s will scan when you drop off your returns.
The best part? Return Amazon purchases at Kohl’s and you’ll receive $5 in Kohl’s Cash. Now this coupon will say that you can only use it in the store, but if you add it to your Kohl’s app wallet, you can apply it to any Kohls.com purchases too.
That is unless you live in Anchorage, Alaska. Sorry, y’all. The Anchorage stores are the only Kohl’s locations that won’t honor this.
